My 2015 Hyundai Accent started having issues with oil consumption at about 80,000 miles or so. I was having to check and add oil to the vehicle regularly in addition to oil changes. The oil consumption issue got worse as the vehicle got higher in miles, having to check and add oil every 600-1000 miles approximately. I was not aware of the known issue with Hyundai motors and the oil consumption so I was not tracking milage or dates of adding oil unfortunately. At about 100,135 miles, the vehicle suddenly broke down on my way to work. There was no warning other than the oil consumption problem. The car rpms got very high and the car started decelerating until it wouldn't go forward anymore and was stalled on the side of the road. I had the vehicle towed to a Hyundai dealership and at this time it waiting for the diagnosis, however, they are sure that the head gasket has to be removed (for $500) to get that diagnosis. When the car died, there were no warning lights on at all, however, previously, there had been lights for low oil occasionally, but not always, when the oil was low. Many times when I checked and the oil was low, there was no light that indicated that it was low.

I started burning oil and was going through a quart of oil every 150 miles, then due to the excess oil consumption my catalytic converter went out.

The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Accent. The contact stated that on several occasions while the vehicle was idling, she depressed the accelerator pedal however, the vehicle hesitated and then lunged forward. The contact stated that while the vehicle was shifted into neutral, the engine revved but then failed to engage in a timely manner when shifted to the intended gear. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000.
The car loses power randomly. It typically happens at a stop light or a stop sign, usually within the first 10-15 mins of starting the car. It hasn’t happened after or while the car is driven for a long period of time. However, it has happened while getting on to the highway and while making turns into intersections. When the car loses power, there is no warning. Sometimes, it is hard to put the car into park and restart the car when it loses power. Oddly, however, when it loses power/ stalls/ shuts off, if the radio or other devices are on, they stay on. Symbols that appear on the dash when the car shuts down include the engine, oil, and battery lights. These lights also come on when you first cycle to start the car. We’ve taken the car to a Hyundai dealership and they said that they can’t find any codes, when they connect the car to a code reader.

The contact drove the vehicle to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Accent. The contact stated while an independent mechanic was checking the vehicle, while shifting the gear shifter, the vehicle lunged forward and the contact notice that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic however, the contact was unsure what needed to be replaced. The vehicle was also taken to the local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 59,000.
Okay, I'm going to try my best at explaining what I am experiencing. This is my second Hyundai Accent. The first car I had was a 2004 Accent. The second car I have now is a 2015. Both cars have the same exact problem. And I am not fixing it. This is definitely a manufacturing error. It's so dangerous too, because my engine could just blow up. Anywhoooo, both cars just burn oil like gas. I repeat, burn oil like gas. I need to check the oil every (at the most) 2 weeks because of how badly oil is just burning up. Also, there is a "check engine" code being thrown for something small in the evap system. Same cars, 11 years apart. Same problems!? I don't think that is right whatsoever. I have researched ongoing recalls & expired recalls. To my disappointment, I find nothing. This is a major issue. There is absolutely zero irony in 2 cars, being 11 years apart, newer one being a 6 speed manual, having the same issues exactly. I was so happy to get a newer one, thinking, "OH there can't be possibly anything wrong with this model". Wrong. Absolutely, positively no car should have to dump almost 5 quarts of oil in your car every 1000 miles or less. I constantly need to buy 1 or 2 quarts of oil biweekly for this 2015 Hyundai Accent. I can't just get rid of it, cars are expensive! this is absolutely the manufacturers problem. So I am going above their heads to get this taken care of. Monday, I want to try and call Hyundai, either the one near me, or some "hotline". This is unacceptable. My car will show that "low oil pressure" light and my heart just drops. "I just put oil in it!". I say to myself. Do not get me wrong. I love my car. I want my car taken care of. As, when I bought it, blaise alexander *apparently* didn't know about it. And they flat out lied about the check engine light! I've had numerous people look at it. They hardly have an answer. Its expensive and labor intensive. Please help me solve this problem. I am not the only one. -morgan buerk.
Occasionally when you accelerate it hesitates and does not respond. It has been taken to a mechanic and a dealer and they cannot find the problem but it does happen. It is dangerous especially when pulling out onto a very busy road where I live this is a side street entering a very busy highway or most anytime. It is random it happens ever since car was purchased can't give exact date.
At first in the beginning my car does it once in a blue moon; however now everyday for the past two months my car would power down while being at a red light, stop sign, or in motion. When it powers down the engine and battery lights comes on. I would have to put the car in park and restart my car. It normally does it twice everyday. This is a safety hazard for myself and my baby. I'm scared that a car would come up behind and hit me while my baby is in the car. I fear our lives. When I took it to autozone for them to check and see why my check engine light was on the code was always catalytic converter. I went to go get that fix and my car is still having the same problem. Also, when my car is in motion the rpm doesn't move it stays at 0. Also, the sensor for the passenger air bag isn't working. When somebody is sitting on the passenger side the airbag light is off, but when somebody isn't sitting there the airbag light is on. I haven't been in any accidents.
Engine/power train the engine went out on my vehicle while I was traveling from houston to dallas texas on a major highway. I had it towed to Hyundai dealership who diagnosed the engine problem. I was asked to provide documentation that showed oil change maintenance was being performed from 70k-82k miles. I provided that information to the dealership and they conducted a pre-approval and sent it over to Hyundai corporate. After several days waiting and stranded in dallas, I received the news that the claim was denied for improper maintenance. Unfortunately, I was not told what type of maintenance was needed since I provided the documentation requested that showed I did have maintenance. I called Hyundai corporate to file a complaint and get a better reason for denial. I was told I should have received a call with more information and I still have not received any feedback. I visited a Hyundai dealership back in November who told me my engine was going bad and provide paperwork. I was not informed by the dealership when this information was needed and how soon. I took the care for an oil change after visiting the dealership as it was time and the engine light went off. I feel Hyundai is not honoring their warranty for my car although I provided the information they needed to show I was keeping up with oil changes. I have no vehicle and purchased this current vehicle under the impression they would honor their 100,000 warranty. My car is under 100,000 so I'm not understanding why they are not fixing my engine.

I notice my car had a knocking/ pinging sound and took it to the dealer to get serviced about 7 months ago. The dealer claimed they couldn't replicate the noise which is false because I took one of the service representatives for a ride to show him the noise. They decided to clean the intake which helped, but the pre detonations are back again, this time they are more noticeable. I've read several Accent owners in forums complaining about pinging, knocking, and pre detonations. Hyundai must act on this issue!.
Vehicle would not shift from park to drive. Brake lights didn't illuminate. Vehicle towed to local garage, where it was determined the brake light switch was defective. 30 minutes and $80. 00 later the problem was remedied. Hyundai has had multiple recalls of their brake light switches, but each time the apply the recall to a very narrow selection of models, of which this aforementioned vehicle is not included. Stranding a 19 y/o girl in a dark parking lot at 9:30 at night could have resulted in a less favorable outcome. How many other unfortunates suffer because of a failure on the part of Hyundai to step up and fix an inexpensive part.

I live in las vegas nevada, this vehicle overheats and shuts the air conditioner off when it reaches 75% on the temperature gage. Anytime the outside temperature is above 100+ degrees the car will reach 75% while driving in about 30 minutes, if the car is stationary it'll get there in about 10 to 15 minutes. Hyundai manufacturing has said that this is due to a small radiator and a small cooling fan but will currently not repair these issues. Most Hyundai dealerships will claim that this is not a problem or that the car does not have a problem. The photographs depict the temperature rising while driving the car. The only time the temperature went down was when I manually shut the ac off.
I was getting on interstate 95 & the car jerked back then completely stopped shift in into gears & has no reverse.

While driving the car it loses electrical power and the vehicle stalls, which causes it to lose lights, gauges, steering, etc. The car will not restart immediately after stalling out, sometimes up to an hour. This is a very dangerous situation and has happened over 8 times now. The local Hyundai dealer said it might be the ip junction box or it might be a lose grounding wire and they will not give us a definite answer for a fix. The car continues to lose electrical and stall and is now unable to be covered under warranty due to the fact of the mileage is at 60,100. I see this as a manufacturing fault with the electrical system and Hyundai should take care of this major safety issue at no cost to the consumer.
I have owned this car which was stated to be brand new for just about 3 month. A few weeks ago I had to pull over for a flat tire. This week same thing. When the car was towed to route 60 Hyundai I was told the damage was front end damage causing the 3 month old tires to wear to the cords. These are hankook tires which have been subject to many class action lawsuits. Route 60 basically called me a liar and insisted I caused the front end damage. This car is unsafe and this dealership should be ashamed of themselves for not honoring their contract and warranty.
A trip turned into twice being stranded on the side of the road with this car. Never been out of the bay area with it. It starts skipping a few beats, loses acceleration. Recovers itself until the next time. Becomes quite intermittent after that point. I got to jacksonville after leaving here. Lost power, tossed white smoke out the tail pipe. Just lugs along and then recovers. So I pulled off the freeway. Into a shopping mall. Turned it off. Started it again? nothing but white smoke out the back end. I called a tow truck. Had it towed into the local Hyundai dealership. Where after an hour? they had done some type of emissions clean out? and a transmission flush. Out of pocket? $289. I leave. I decide to come back home instead. I just didn't trust this car the rest of the way to va. . I get to ocala. Merging on to the 75 interchange? two cars and a semi behind me. A semi to the left side had to move over because I punched the gas to merge on? stalled, something went boom under me? and so much white smoke behind me? it engulfed the vehicles behind me. It literally lost power and I had to coast over to the shoulder? then recovered itself. I got it to the rest area a mile up the road. Called a tow truck again. Had it towed to the local Hyundai dealership. These people replaced the cat converter and a sensor. The rest of the trip home. At the 60 mile mark again? it starts up again. Spitting and sputtering. Losing acceleration. . Trucks behind me. I'm praying by this point. I eventually pulled off at the wesley chapel exit * and slowly made it home back to clearwater. Hyundai America is who I called at this point. Took it in yet again to a local Hyundai dealership who as usual after 2 days? find absolutely nothing wrong. I get it back? and it sounds worse and runs worse than it ever did now. Sounds like a puttering volkswagon. I am seriously afraid of this car. Seriously!.

The contact owns a 2005 Hyundai Accent. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to shift out of the park position. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 09v280000 (exterior lighting). The approximate failure mileage was 41,000.
Try to start car and it would not turn over. I had it taken to a mechanic and they diagnosed it as a faulty neutral safety switch. This has happened to me several times and has left me stranded.
My car was parked in my driveway. I went out to pull it into the garage. When I took my foot off of the break to excelerate, the car lunged forward (without me giving it any gas). I returned my foot lightly to the break. The thrust threw me into the steering wheel. I called the tow service and had my car taken to the dealership for repair. During the ride to the dealer the tow driver said that he had to hold his foot on the break in order to control the car and get it on the truck. The dealership kept my car for three days and told me that there was nothing wrong with it. She told me that the diagnostic showed no numbers that would indicate there was anything wrong with the car. She stated that there were some codes that came up but they were erased because they didn't matter, they came up on their own. The diagnostic was done on day one. What was being done on the other two days? this is not the first time that I have had to take this car in for this type of repair. They always tell me that there is nothing wrong with the car, however when I get the car back it drives like new. Not so much this time. The breaks are still a little off. Is a dealership allowed to repair your car and not tell you what was wrong? I ask this because of the above and during one of my visits on of the workers told me that "they will do anything to stay #1".
I was in an accident on October 14, 2013 where I struck a deer head on at 50mph and the airbags did not deploy. I wrote to Hyundai and complained, and after their "investigation", they determined that I was not entitled to any assistance. Well, two nights ago, on Wednesday, December 18, 2013, I struck and went under a Ford f150 truck. I was pinned in the vehicle. My airbag did not deploy - again. How am I to feel safe in this vehicle? their "investigation" said that the airbags were in working order and that simply hitting a deer would not make them go off. Well, this time I hit and went under a vehicle and was pinned in my vehicle and they still didn't go off. I am so disappointed in Hyundai. This was my first new car. And it has lasted me 1 1/2 years, not even. I was not cited for the accident as the officer said it was not my fault. My insurance company is considering totaling the vehicle. I am beyond upset. I'm opening another complaint against Hyundai, maybe they will "get it" this time. This is unacceptable!!!!!.
This vehicle is extremely dangerous driving in the snow. I have driven a number and variety of vehicles in all types of weather across the country. I have certainly driven in worse conditions and in lighter vehicles in worse conditions. There has been a light snow all day 3-6 inches. I was driving on both the interstate and county maintained roads, all paved. Traffic was medium heavy, it was around 6 pm. The vehicle has no traction (it was not icy out) and kind of "bounced" through the snow, like it was going to stall. I started out at 45 but when I realized I had no control, I slowed down to between 35 and 25. If I accelerated in the least, the vehicle didn't really respond. It felt like driving a boat in the water where there is a delay. The car went where it wanted to go. I could keep it somewhat straight, but there was no responsiveness. I was at the mercy of the other drivers. I stayed in the outside lane with my hazards on. I don't know how to describe it, but it was like it wouldn't slow down when I tried to take my foot off the accelerator in response to it drifting, it choked like it was going to stall. It behaved like a stick but its an automatic. And it was like the tires "bounced" in the snow. Its those little tires. The reasons to not own this car just keep adding up. I'm terrified how I'll get through the rest of the winter based on driving last night. I've never felt so out of control in such conditions. It wasn't that bad out. I should have had more control. This vehicle should not be allowed on the road in the winter time. They should recall the vehicle or have to buy them back at the cost owed. I can't believe it's legal to allow a vehicle that performs so poorly in moderate winter weather to be on the road. How will I get through the winter? I now want to get rid of this vehicle ASAP before I end up dead.
I was unaware that Hyundai had issued a recall on these vehicles back on September 2, 2009. My car started not wanting to let me shift out of park, after I had applied the brake to do so. Just last night October 2, 2013. I noticed that my brake light were on and not my headlights, and the car was in park, and the vehicle was off. I will attempt to get this fixed at the Hyundai dealership in enterprise, al. I hope they will fix this safety issue, as I have readed other complaints from people across the nation have had with this and dealerships have refused to comply and fix this free of charge. Hopefully the dealership will fix it.
While going 65 mph car shifted into lower gear on its own. Would not shift back. Has done this many times since then. When put in park and turned off, most the time will work right after.
I have had issues with shifting into gear. I have taken it to several different mechanics and they have not been able to find any issues at all. I also just found out that my fuel level sensor is not working either. I have not been able to find any recalls on either. It's upsetting to see that others are having the same issue with the shifting problem and it doesn't seem that anyone within Hyundai has bothered to see if this problem exists with other 5 speed Accents.
My wife and I, both over sixty, were driving back from ohio to connecticut on the penn rt 80, it was snowing and the road surface was slippery but drive-able. About five miles before the milesburg, PA exit, the car began to loose power and the windshield and the wipers iced up such that our visibility was impaired. I had to stop on the unplowed shoulder of the highway to clear the ice. It was very dangerous as large speeding trucks and cars were passing close by. The traffic included an irate penn state plow driver who beeped and yelled at us. When we restarted our trip, the Hyundai Accent would not go faster than about 15 - 18 miles per hour. We managed to get off the exit while riding on the snow covered shoulder after a very long and strenuous ride. The next day we drove the car, which ran perfectly, to the Hyundai dealer at state college. The car checked out fine. The dealer guessed that the car went into a "limp home" mode because of the road conditions. I concerned that this car company would design a system that would put a couple of senior citizens in such life threatening peril. I feel that we were very lucky, any one of those big rigs could have easily crushed us. Other drivers, put in the same situation, may not be so lucky. Why was this unsafe "limp home" approved by the government?.
My brake lights do not illuminate when pressing on the brake pedal, and my automatic shift is stuck in park unless I press the button in the small hole located to the upper left to unlock it. I was informed by Hyundai that it sounded like I had a broken switch located by the brake pedal and that it was causing the brake lights to not register when I pressed in the brake pedal. I have an appointment for tomorrow but if there was a recall done on other VIN numbers and mine isn't listed I'm going to be upset.
August 2011 purchased 2010 Hyundai Accent auto. 4 door sedan. VIN [xxx]. As previously reported to the NHTSA, in March 2012 a better business bureau arbitrator ruled that the car had suffered manufacturer defect transmission mounts. The dealer did replace the two mounts which substantially reduced a front end and passenger compartment vibration and shaking. Some vibration remained; I took the car back to the dealer. At two dealers I was told by about six Hyundai employees that the remaining vibration was "normal". But I went for another inspection, the mechanic noted the vibration and said it was normal. But thirty minutes later, the service dealer wrote vibration "cannot be duplicated". So the arbitrator and Hyundai corporate consultant [xxx] in writing witnessed the constant vibration and made such ruling after Hyundai dealer said "could not be duplicated. " October 2012 Hyundai's [xxx] said vibration had been fixed; this was not true. The defective mounts need to be the subject of recall for the safety of other Hyundai owners. The 2013 Accent. Purchased August 2012. The owner manual says check for vibration in the steering wheel; and have loose bolts checked at 15,000 miles. By online appointment I asked the dealer: "engine idle is erratic, not smooth, please adjust; with air conditioning running, car idling in park, vibration felt thru steering wheel, please adjust; when put in gear, engine moves, please adjust motor mounts. " la Hyundai at lax cancelled the appointment and with corporate [xxx] refused to inspect the vehicle August 15 in person on. . Read more...

I began having trouble taking my car out of the park position when I pushed the brake and one day I couldn't get it to come out at all. I called my local dealership and explained the problem and took it in to be check. They told me that it was a sensor that was bad and they needed to replace it and they also informed me that I didn't have any brake lights whenever I pushed them while driving. I was having trouble for about a month leading up to the day I couldn't get it out of park. I was able to used the shift lock override to force it out, but I still didn't have brake lights. It was fixed for about $150 including parts & labor. This was very scary though because I could have easily been rear ended since drives behind me didn't know I was braking.
The contact owns a 2000 Hyundai Accent. Almost two months after the transmission was replaced on the vehicle, the engine failed to start. All of the indicators on the instrument panel were illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to a mechanic and had the battery replaced; however, the failure persisted. She called the manager at the dealer where the transmission was replaced and was advised to make sure that the vehicle was fully in the park position. She placed the gear from park into drive and then back into the park gear. The engine was finally able to start. She believes this is a safety issue because she should not have to move her gears around numerous times to start the vehicle. The contact has an appointment with the dealer to have the vehicle inspected. The current and failure mileages were 84,000.
