2 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2010 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 12/24/2009

As soon as I got on the freeway, the steering wheel, brake, and accelerator locked up. I managed to make it down the ramp to the side of the freeway. I put on the emergency brake because, the car kept rolling. I attempted to turn the car off but, the key was stuck in the ignition. The car was still on. I managed to get the key out and waited a few minutes then I restarted the car. I drove to the nearest exit and when I got off the freeway, it happened again in the left turn lane so, I could not get over. I waited and restarted the car like before. I parked and let the car run for a few minutes. Since then it has not happened but, this is a 2010 Hyundai Accent (hatchback) and I bought it not even 3 weeks prior to this incident. I took it back to the dealership and they could not find out what was wrong with it. They told me because they could not duplicate the problem, they were chasing a ghost and could not help me. I asked what if it happens again and leads to an accident. I was told they can't help me with that question because they could not find a problem in the car. They returned the car to me with nothing fixed and no answers. I do not know what lead up to this problem. I have not crashed or damaged this car in any way. If the dealership does not know what is wrong and how to keep this from happening again, how am I supposed to feel safe driving this car?.

5 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2008 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 10/18/2008

I had the car checked by the factory rep, and service mgr. At crestmont Hyundai via a road test. I described the vibration problems with the tires and they both agreed to "load " balance the tires, which took away most of the tire problems. The second problem is with the shifting of the transmission ( automatic) when cold or hot. When cold going from reverse to drive the car has a " dead" zone before it will engage into drive. These few seconds that I wait for it to engage has caused problems in traffic, which I feel will result in a accident. When it does engage it shifts very abruptly or basically "lunging " into drive. The factory rep. Even said the nature of the car shifting the way it does is normal. Upon exiting the h/way if the car does not have sufficient time to send the signal from the computer to the transmission, it searches for the signal or abruptly shifts into drive or hangs in a semi neutral "zone" before engaging. If this is a normal operation of this car, someone is going to be hurt or killed as a result of it. Please help before I take a hit on trading away this car for a Honda or Toyota. I was assured when I was purchasing this car that the difference between a automatic and manual trans. That the gas mileage was negligent. I now know that the finance mgr. Was definitely wrong and I was a fool for not doing my "homework" . The gas mileage is actually worse than my 1991 Honda civic hatchback, that has almost 180,000 miles on it. Go figure that one out!!!!.

14 Automatic Transmission problem of the 1999 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 12/04/2003

Car has been in Hyundai dealership in thousand oaks, CA 4 times this year with exact same problem. It feels like transmission to me. (I have automatic) when on interstate, rpm's will go high and car won't shift. At stop light, car will sit without my foot on brake or gas and not move. Extreme pushing on gas pedal to get car to accelerate is needed. Everytime in dealership they say it was some sort of sensor. This last time 12/4/03 they said they won't replace my transmission yet and will change some computer chip in transmission. They said "your car is safe to drive. " I took my car home with it doing the same problem. On my way to work that night my engine light came on and car doing same problem. Left work in am straight to dealership (within 4 mi) and told the head guy. He said he knew me and my car and didn't want to help. "what do you want me to do?" he said. I said "I'm not driving my car. " he said "do you want to leave it hear?" I said "yes. " I told him my engine light has never come on before and now it is on. He said "you have driven you car with the engine light on before. " I said "never, my light has never come on before. " I left with a loaner car which he was reluctant to give me because I wasn't supposed to get that until 12/9/03 when I was to bring in my car to have the chip replaced (they had to order it). My car clearly unsafe to drive, they won't listen to me. I know of a recall #99v178000. They haven't looked into this. It came July 06/ 1999. I bought my car around 7/13/99. No written or phone call to me regarding this recall. I took my car in for the recall #v03 manifold and there wasn't a problem with this.

We own a 1999 Hyundai Accent. Bought brand new from dealership. Have had numerous problems with car, currently transmission problems. Have taken car to dealership, problem supposedly not under warranty, but charged us numerous times. Got on internet and found numerous recalls on this make of car. We have never received a recall notice regarding any of the problems. Would like to know how to go about obtaining these recalls, should be free from car company, and how to get this car repaired. Auto transmission not shifting properly, been going on for over 8 months, no one seems to know what is wrong with it. There are several recalls associated with this problem. Why were we not informed about the recalls, and why did't the dealership know about the recalls to fix the problem to begin with. Since we bought the car, it has been to the dealership repair shop 5 times, for the same problem. The car begins to have problems shifting gears, it loses power, as not going higher than 20-30 miles. When the gas pedal is applied, the car gets stuck for several seconds before it jerks and begins to run again. Everytime we take it in they repair the pulse generator. The pulse generator has been changes two time in the last three months alone (June, August), and now its ready to go back into the shop again. 33 Automatic Transmission problem of the 1996 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 06/27/2001

The closest dealership to me was in augusta georgia. The transmission shop in my town told me I needed a tork converter, epc assembly, complete planetary set up,left axle bearing, housing, busking kit?,master kit, fluid, fliter, and auxillary cooler. I notified Hyundai, western nat'l, taylor automotive in GA. , and todey in CA. Not until after I called with charges was I told Hyundai had to do the repairs for warranty. Ca. Told me that I misunderstood my owner's manual when it said that if it was unreasonable to get the vehicle serviced by an authorized Hyundai tech. , my warranty would be nullified. Hyundai nullified my powertrain warranty 1month later. I was told by Hyundai's cust serv. In CA. That I had no right to call my situation an emergency, only they had that right. I asked them and all concerned why they had me tow the car knowing my local tech had diagnosed the problem and they knew that. I was told because another tech touched the transmission and they did not take transmissions apart but switch to new trans. They would chrg. Me at 1/2 price. A "new" transmission and p/up of the car was8/24/2001. On the way home, the car would slow down on small inclines fr 55 -45. It started stalling when turning or going over bumps. I was able to take it back on 1/9/2001 and no codes from diagnostic mach. And the tech saw that a hose needed cleaning for the accelerator sticking. Almost home, the car jerked, stalled, changed gears;reved up and would choke when accelerating. It threatens to go off and sometimes does when accelerating from 0-anything. I was told I had to bring it back, but I am afraid that it will stop on the road like it did 1/9/2002 when a truck almost hit me. The car is in worse shape now then before. I know these problems have been documented at Hyundai from more than I. We all seem to void warranty,1996 Accent's transmission defective, gears shifting problems,no codes or findings when brought in for serv. &rude reps.
