1 Service Brakes problem of the 2013 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 08/15/2025

The incident started August 15, 2025, I was driving my car and the traction light came on I stopped and turned it off. I proceeded to drive it after that and came home. Then I noticed my brake lights were constantly on so I took a piece of cardboard and folded it in a few folds and put it between the brake pedal and the brake switch it turned it off. I then proceeded the next day to drive my car it was doing fine until my caliper seized on my rotor and left me stuck on the side of the road, I then called a mobile mechanic he came out replaced the caliper on the left front driver side it still did not unseize my rotor for my caliper to move freely so he installed a new master cylinder it worked for 2 days then I was always driving it felt like the tire was falling off the car a lot of shaking and bouncing. So I parked it that unfortunately sees the caliper on the rotor again three times. I had a new caliper put on it worked for a week my traction light was off. And then my traction light came back on as I was driving it seized up again I've replaced a lot of fuses, new masters cylinder, new caliper, new brake switch. I'm at a loss help me!!.

2 Service Brakes problem of the 2016 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 07/24/2025

The emergency brake light, abs light, and esc light all come on while driving & speedometer goes to 0. The speedometer also stops tracking mileage when these lights come on. This used to happen on & off, but now it’s almost permanent. Hundreds are reporting the same exact issue online, but mechanics cannot figure out what the problem is. Me and countless others have taken the vehicle to mechanics multiple times with no resolve and thousands of dollars worth of diagnostics that are incorrect and don’t resolve the issue. It is dangerous because we don’t know how fast we’re going, and we don’t know if your abs, emergency brakes, & esc are all working properly. This issue is impacting Hyundai Accents years 2015, 2016, & 2017 based on the multiple threads & posts online. I think it’s related to electrical issues too because my windshield wipers & blinkers will randomly malfunction while this is happening. A random online user said that it is a “Smart junction box” issue that needs to be replaced. Please look into this and issue a recall because thousands of people are spending thousands of hard-earned dollars with no resolve.

3 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 04/25/2025

On the [xxx], my 2012 Hyundai Accent caught fire in the engine compartment and engulfed in flames. Right before the fire started, smoke came out of the air vents into the car, causing me to become stifled and choke for several minutes. Smoke was also coming out of the hood. At that point, I lifted the hood and there were flames coming out of the engine. During the past six months prior to the fire, I developed a chronic cough and now believe it might have been attributed to fumes that I have been inhaling through the air vents from my car's engine. My [xxx] mother and [xxx] son have suffered headaches, coughing, sore throat and congestion when riding in my car with the air conditioner turned on. The remains of the vehicle were inspected by the rockdale county fire department after they extinguished the fire. What remains of the car is available for inspection in rockdale county GA at a tow yard designated by the rockdale county emergency rescue team members who assisted me. It was too damaged to tow to my home. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the engine catching fire on [xxx]. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

9 Service Brakes problem of the 2014 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 09/02/2024

I was entering highway on entrance ramp there was a loud pop and I could see plumes of smoke coming from under the car, so I turned the ignition off on the car and pulled over to the shoulder, the brakes failed so I had to let it coast to a stop. Then I waited until I could safely exit the vehicle and did so quickly. I had the vehicle towed to a local shop, and they told me I should report it. There was no warning that it was about to happen and yes its available for inspection still sitting at the shop I had it towed to. They also said I should have it towed to the manufacturer service center but this is my first time dealing with anything like this so im unsure what to do. I did do a cursory inspection under the hood with a mechanic from the shop and there was a burnt wire and a bunch of what looked like oil down at the bottom of the engine, but the oil was still full so I dont think it was oil.

11 Service Brakes problem of the 2014 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 08/07/2024

There have been 2 recalls in which this vehicle was serviced for within the past year- 1 for undercoating 2 for leaking brake fluid fuse. Neither time were my brake lines inspected for any damage. One month after the fuse was replaced, my brakes went out with the dealership saying the lines were rusted through. Now, we are stuck without a vehicle because there are no brake lines available for this vehicle, everything is on back order with no eta. Had either time this car was serviced for these band aid recalls been looked at, we would not be in the situation we are now. No vehicle, no parts available, a dealership completely unwilling to work with us. Research was done and every vehicle in the 2014 Hyundai class except for the Accents were recalled in canada for brake lines rusting out after undercoating in canada. This needs to be looked into because as it stands, our estimate is $2600 to fix an issue that should had been better addressed with these recalls. We were driving back from an outing with our grandchildren when the brakes went completely out with no warning. The brake light did not come when the brakes failed. By the grace of god we were able to get this car to a Hyundai dealership where it sits today due to poor communication on their part, no parts, and complete frustration on our end.

17 Service Brakes problem of the 2015 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 06/05/2024

Around the middle of may 2024 I received a recall notice #23v651000. I made an appointment for approximately 2 weeks on June 5. When I arrived I was told the part was never ordered. Coconut creek Hyundai said they would order the part and call me in a few days. After not hearing for 2 weeks I went back to Hyundai and was told the part hadn’t come in and to go home and they would call me in a few days. After several more weeks I went back and was told the part still hadn’t arrived. It was about a month and a half and still no part. The service manager told me that Hyundai USA was placing a low priority on my model car and manufacturing that part last after all the other models. It’s now 4 months later and I have never received any call from coconut creek Hyundai. When this first happened I contacted both coconut creek Hyundai and Hyundai USA. Hyundai USA said they couldn’t interfere with the local dealer even though it’s a federal safety recall! Hyundai coconut creek basically blew me off. I think this is deliberate on the part of Hyundai USA to service higher cost vehicles before lower cost. They are playing games with my personal safety and that of my car. They are deliberately defying the recall! I believe whatever compliance procedures you have in place should be enforced to the fullest including fines if necessary. Again they are defying the recall and putting my safety and other Accent owners in jeopardy simply for profits.

24 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 04/15/2024

Brake line corrosion and leak on drivers side. Location approximately where drivers door meets passenger door. It appears that all of the brake lines except a one foot section in the above location are coated with a hard rubber for corrosion protection. The one foot section in question however is raw metal which is "protected" on the bottom side by a removable plastic covering. The covering is clearly inadequate as the brake line rusted through, potentially causing a serious accident. I notice that canada has some recalls on hyandai vehicles other than the Accent for rusty brake lines.
