O whom it may concern, my son was in an accident this past Tuesday 4/3/18 where he reared end another vehicle. . The air bag light came on but the air bags never deployed. It was enough damage to total the car. . Aprox 9-12 thousand dollars in damage. . Luckily no one was injured but I am very concerned about the air bags not deploying. The adjuster from the insurance company also was wondering why they did not deploy. I have read there is some issues with the 2017 Elantra and airbags not deploying correctly but not sure if applies to this situation I would like someone to review the damage and give me some kind of idea why the air bags did not deploy. . Sincerely brian gray.

Takata recall- vehicle was turning left when hit from driver's side by another vehicle. Driver was injured, airbags did not deploy. See pictures. State police suspect that none of the airbag sensors were triggered during the collision when it was expected they would do so under such circumstances.
My vehicle was in car accident on 2/13/18, was hit while driving on the street with such a force that the car was pushed across median strip onto on coming traffic. Hitting another vehicle. Which the air bags did not deploy?.
My airbag light has come on a few months ago. This is an extremely common problem in the 2011 Hyundai Elantra. It is said to be the clockspring. Hyundai wants hundreds of dollars to replace this. The airbags will not deploy if the light is on, making it very dangerous to drive this car. This should be recalled! it is worth nothing that I did not have this problem until after Hyundai fixed the ecm recall. The airbag light came on as I drove home from this service.

The airbag light came on. Airbag will not deploy in a collision. This is dangerous and should be a recall for the 2014 Elantra gt models as well. There are a number of complaints found online. There has already been recalls on previous models. The 2014 should be added to the recall list.

The airbag warning light came on on my dashboard a few days ago and has been on ever since. I have read on several online forums how several other people have been having the same issue and how this means that the airbag will not deploy during a collision. This is a serious safety issue and the dealerships should be charging over $250 to correct this defect. I have not yet been in an accident, but I don't want to wait until then for someone to take action. Thank you.
In my Elantra 2012 the light of the airbag is on, the vehicle has not suffered accidents or strong blows, and has followed the maintenance recommended by the manufacturer (following the manual), (95k miles). The dealer says that the airbag light may come on because some of the sensors are damaged; the cost of the repair can range from $ 250 up to $ 3000. With this light on, the airbags will not deploy. Hyundai has a good reputation, and safety should be included in the warranty, especially since the vast majority of Elantra owners complain about the same problem. (googling). The solution should be included as a recall.
The clock spring has worn after roughly 55k miles and just being out of warranty. Dealer replacement is $300 and airbags will not deploy without repair. This began after going over rough brick pavers and the light is intermittently on, probably about 80-90% of the time. As I understand it the veracruz and santa fe models had a similar issue a few year prior (11-01-052) and online searches show this is a common issue with (at least) early production elantas. While owner diy replacement is possible, it is not recommended due to srs system importance as well as lack of ability to recalibrate software.
The contact owned a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. While driving approximately 40 mph, a vehicle crashed into the front end of the contact's vehicle. The vehicle sustained severe front end damage and was destroyed, but the air bags did not deploy. The driver sustained injuries to the neck, back, shoulder, and stomach. Medical attention was received. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 45,000.
I was taking my dad to church on Sunday he sat on seat. I notice passenger airbag off indicator did not go off . The car was driven in city and on highway thank god air bags were not needed air bag light came on dash later that day . I called broadway Hyundai on Monday they said if air bag light on dash was on airbags would not deploy. I took car in to broadway they told me airbag sensor on passenger seat was severed and part would be 1600. 00 to repair. Later they called back and said they could but used seat in for 297. 32. I didn't like that because same thing could happen again, but could nor afford 1600. 00 for ome part. I call Hyundai and ask that I should be compensated for danger my dad and myself were put in and reinvested repair. This is poor workmanship having sharp metal rails and clips over plastic wire membrane. Not happy with used seat same thing could happen again and this part could be in 1000 of other vehicle. A case was started and no reply for Hyundai. A fair settlement of 1600. 00 for correct part if need in future and danger we were put in. I feel this should be checked out there could 1000 of this danger on road today and some people may not take airbag light seriously. See attach photo take by repair technician jeff.

On April 14th 2017 I got into a car accident where I ended up on my drivers side in a ditch and my side impact airbags never deployed. We have been in constant contact with Hyundai since than with no resolution. We have before the car got fixed and after the car got fixed pictures of the airbags and you can clearly see where someone had tampered with them. My car has been sitting in our driveway since may 4th not being driven because we don't feel safe driving it not knowing if the airbags are going to work if we need them too and we were told to not use it by Hyundai until someone from Hyundai could come and inspect the car, which they never did. I also have all the phone calls we have ever made to Hyundai written down including times, dates, who we talked to and what we talked about, all the emails sent back and forth with Hyundai we also have printed. It has gotten to a pint now that we actually got the bbb and the north carolina state attorney general involved. I have included the pictures my husband took of the drivers side and passenger side airbags.
On April 14th 2017 my wife was involved in a car accident where she hydroplaned off of an onramp at 60-65mph as she was getting on the highway and rolled her 2013 Hyundai Elantra. The side impact and side curtain airbags never deployed. At the time of the accident she was a month and a half pregnant. I her husband called Hyundai while at the hospital. I let them know that "none" of the airbags deployed and they said that they would start a case. I also let the company know where the car was being sent which was a Hyundai dealership in town and asked if they would check the airbags which "never happened". The car was repaired and we picked up the car on may 4th 2017. We have been in constant contact with Hyundai about the airbag situation and we feel that they never really took it seriously. My wife's car has been sitting in our driveway since may 4th, 2017 not being driven due to (a) my wife being afraid of the car and not feeling safe inside. (b) not knowing about the airbags and the "ongoing investigation". Fast forward to today September 20th, 2017 I received an email from Hyundai saying that due to them not being able to check the car and airbags out "post-accident they were unable to find any faults in the airbags, and then they go no to say that the Elantra's side curtain airbags are not supposed to deploy in a rollover accident. My wife was traveling at between 60 and 65 mph when she lost control of her Elantra and I can not understand why they (a) did not check the airbags when the car was at a certified dealer/repair shop and (b) why they are telling us that the side curtain airbags were not supposed to deploy in a rollover. From the research that I have done in any rollover the side impact and side curtain airbags are supposed to deploy in a rollover. I do have picture and emails fro the accident and emails from Hyundai.
Airbag warning light comes off and on. Dealer states the clockspring is bad. After doing some research there are a lot of complaints regarding this problem. Also found out when the airbag light is on the airbag will not deploy if there was an accident. There should be a recall on the clockspring.

It was Jan 8, 2017 and it had been raining. My son was driving the vehicle and he hydroplaned on the freeway going 55-60 mph. The vehicle did a 90 degree turn on the freeway and hit a guard rail. Both my son and grand daughter had whiplash but no other visible signs. The air bags did not deploy. I opened a claim with Hyundai. They sent an private inspector and Hyundai determined that the air bags should not have deployed (see attached).
In January 2017 I was involved in a accident. I hit another car in the rear at 65 mph. The air bag failed to deploy I have been trying to get information from hyundia for over two years and they will not give any information they finally looked at my vehicle and said that the air bag failed to deploy because it was not designed to deploy in that type of accident . I assume there is a manufacture design problem. I was traveling on the freeway and a young girl crossed four lanes of traffic right in front of me and I hit her dielectric in the rear at 65 mph. Hyundia would provide me any documentation to confirm there assessment I am a texas licensed insurance appraiser and have a lot of experience with accident reconstruction. I believe this is a serious manufacture design problem and should be investigated. I have saved the car for inspection if needed. I was permanent disabled in the accident and hyundia wwill do nothing.
The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, another vehicle crashed into the rear causing the driver to crash into a utility pole. During the crash, the vehicle sustained significant damage to the front end but the air bags did not deploy. The driver suffered a concussion, neck and back injuries that required medical attention. A police report was taken at the scene. No further information was available. The vehicle was towed and the cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.
In my 2011 Hyundai Elantra, the airbag light is constantly on. This seemed like a safety issue and so I took it to the Hyundai dealership that I purchased the car from and they quoted me $300. 00 to replace the clock spring. After doing some research, I have noticed this is an ongoing issue with this car and that I am definitely not the only Hyundai Elantra car owner this has happened to. Without the $300. 00 to replace the clock spring, the air bags will not deploy in the event of a collison. How is this a safety issue and therefore not on a recall list?.
I have a 99 Hyundai Elantra 4 door. Last week the steering column caught on fire while it was being driven. More specifically, I was at the time in the hardee's drive thru when the smoke and flames started. I was able to get my car to roll out of the drive thru and into the parking lot. I have spoken to a few mechanics who say that it seems like it was a short in the electrical system in the steering wheel. It melted all of the steering column, dash, cracked the windshield with the heat, and other fire damage. The car is now totaled and undriveable. I am a single mother of 2 kids and this was my only means of transportation. Also about a year ago, I was in a head on collision that was not my fault, and the airbags did not deploy in the steering wheel. I had contacted Hyundai afterwards, but they said that the car was fine and not to worry. I have no way to scan my documents, but I have a police report as well as several emails from Hyundai from last year, as well as pictures of the damage.
