1 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2015 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 11/16/2020

I have repeatedly experienced sticking calipers (evidenced by parking break not disengaging at 20,000 miles and again at 38,000) and extreme wearing of the rotors. Front rotors required replacement at 20,000 miles, 39,000 miles. Rear rotors required resurfacing at 20,000 miles, 39,000 miles. Rear and front rotors required replacement at 65,000 miles. Experience shuddering while braking at highway speeds due to rotord.

4 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2007 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 07/16/2014

Both sun visor's would randomly fall from its hinge and would block my visibility while driving. The rear brake calipers have never worked. Especially with such low mileage. I have recently had a brake inspection and the front left caliper was the only brake that has been functional for the past 20,000 miles.

5 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2003 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 06/10/2013

In the past 6 weeks, I have drove my car maybe 5 times because it has been in and out of the shop so many time for default brakes. Once it seems to be fixed, they starting smoking. So it goes back in the shop for another week. Then I get it back, and I don't have any brakes. Goes back in shop, get it back and then my calipers stick again and cause my brakes to smoke. I have not had my car for almost 2 weeks because it has been sitting on my driveway and I do not feel safe driving it, nor is it even drivable because it is probably going to set on fire. I have about $2000 dumped into this car due to default equipment on the car, which the recall people claim it has nothing to do with their campaigns, so they told me to bring it to my local Hyundai dealership and have them check it out. They found I need new brake seals, calipers on all 4 sides and new roaders (that we just replace a month ago brand new) because they are worn down so much due to the calipers sticking, locking up and smoking once a week for the past month. I work a full time job and a part time job to pay off my college loans. I cannot keep putting money into a 2003 car that I have only had for a year. It is not worth me spending another $600 to replace the brake system again for a car who has so many recalls on it, I can't count on both of my hands. Since I am a new owner, don't you think I would of received the recall notices in the mail? yeah, that has not happened. I do have a lawyer and I will not be afraid to give her a call because my car is complexly unsafe to drive and by the time I am done fixing all these problems (that are on the list of recalls) this car will be almost a $10,000 car which I only payed $5000 for.

6 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2009 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 05/16/2013

Rear brake caliper problem! the rear's only have to be lubricated every 15k miles or annually. A manufacturing problem that should be listed on a recall problem to replaced with a redesign that does not require this lubraction. (please note: people and as myself do not know this, and do not do this. Therefore, the caliper becomes frozen, and the wheel is not braking when it should be. This is a safety hassard. The repair is a new caliper and disk. Conclusion: other manufactures do not have this problem.

7 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2011 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 11/28/2011

At 17k miles, and my 4th oil change at the dealership, I was informed that Hyundai recommended the rear brakes be lubricated at 15k miles to avoid future issues with the calipers/pads/rotors. I found this to be very unusual because the front brakes should be doing most of the braking on these front wheel drive cars and they only mentioned the issue happening with the rear brakes. I told them if this was actually true then there must be a manufacturer defect as I have never had this occur with any of the other foreign cars we have owned in the last 10 years. ( 4 Honda's, 2 Subaru's) this dealership is actually being proactive in that they are trying to prevent higher future repair costs, they mentioned the rotors having to be replaced if this "preventive maintenance" wasn't performed. Hearing this, I have searched the internet and have found the following: many people reporting rear pads wearing out way earlier than front pads, brake calipers were getting rusted and sticking, eventually seizing, overheating the rear discs and eventually damaging the rotors. There is definitely something defective in the rear braking system if Hyundai admits that the rear brakes should be lubricated at 15k miles. But not the front brakes and that the rear brake pads wear out faster than the front pads.

8 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2005 Hyundai Elantra

Failure Date: 05/09/2006

: the contact stated the resistance of the brakes has decrease considerably since the vehicle was purchased. The brake pedal must be depressed with extreme force to stop the vehicle. When the vehicle was inspected by an independent repair shop, it was determined that the left rear caliper was defective; causing excessive brake pad wear on the left side. As a result of the excessive brake pad wear, the left rear rotor has developed deep grooves. The manufacturer has not been alerted.
