Brake Disc Rotor Problems of Hyundai Elantra

Trunk lid opens by itself either when driving or while parked. Had my 2010 Elantra towed to dealer Saturday 03/05/11 after hearing a loud sound under rear of car as if something metal had broken, then it sounded like something under the rear of the car had dropped, then a loud scraping noise occurred, this happened while turning right into my paved driveway. I stopped immediately and looked under the car, there was nothing in the road or my driveway. As I pulled the car in the driveway loud rattling and scraping sounds and sounds of springs stretching and breaking were coming from the left rear wheel, I looked for anything foreign stuck in the wheels and saw nothing. The dealer said all they found was rust on the rotor. Give me a break, all rotors rust and it rained all day Sunday before they looked at the car. I had driven the car at least 45 miles that Saturday before this all occurred, there would have been no rust left on the braking surface of the rotors by then. Besides rust does not cause the sounds that I heard. Also when the car was up on the flat-bed I noticed the left rear wheel was on a slant. I will ask the dealer to fully inspect the suspension and if they can pull the rear rotors off to inspect the emergency brakes and to check out why the trunk lid opens by itself on Tuesday 03/08/11, and I will let the NHTSA know the results. Loud clunking noise and vibration from rear of car when braking. Took it to dealer and they replaced warped rotors and machined brake drums at 4,400 miles. Problem started again and even worse at 4,700 miles. I will be taking it in today. I'm afraid that after 12,000 miles the warranty will not cover them anymore, even though they are obviously defective and have been from the start.

Consumer received recal 03v496000 concerning brake wear/corrosion: consumer contacted the dealer about recall repairs. An appointment was made, but the dealer claimed that the parts were not available.

Braking from highway speeds 70 down to 50 results in serious vibration and pulsation due to out of round disc brake rotors. Feels like possible loss of braking control. Problem has existed since vehicle was new and corrected only by machining the front brake rotors. Original rotors machined 3 times in 65000 miles. Original rotors recently replaced with new oem parts and problem occured again within 5k miles. Complained to dealer and Hyundai regional manager. Explanation was that rotors are not defective if out of round and condition can be corrected by machining. Appears rotors are unable to withstand braking temperatures and warp as result. Quality of steel material used in manufacturing the rotors appears poor. Hyundai does not seem to acknowledge problem with flaw in manufacturing process.

The brake rotor overheated, which caused a grinding noise when the brakes were applied. Dealer is aware of the problem. Mr.

Almost every time the brakes were depressed there was a loud clanking sound coming from the driver's side. Consumer heard the noise at least one hundred times. Vehicle was at dealer four times concerning brak problems.

Both front rotors have multiple hairline cracks -never been cut with plenty of brake lining left -- all highway driving not stop and go .

Rotors failed resulting in grinding noise.

Rotors were warped;trunk lid do not close properly. You can stand beside the car and look down inside the trunk. Transmission jerks while stopped in traffic . While in th process of stopping the transmission feels as though it's going to fall out of the car. I've taken the car back to the dealer for these and other complaints and they continue to tell me that no problems can be found. Please help me get these issues resolved.
