Noises During Shifting Problems of Hyundai Elantra

Hi team, there is a grinding noise whenever I shift my car from park to drive. It happens whenever I shift from park to drive/reverse or slow down quickly. So, I am concerned that there is a safety issue here. I feel really uncomfortable driving my own vehicle when there is something wrong with it. This puts me to think that this might be a transmission issue. The vehicle is under warranty and less than 100,000 km.

Date: 14 Jan 2017 odometer: 1214 miles problem: chemical smell in passenger compartment: -- not sure, but might be engine oil -- caused severe, long-lasting headache, nausea and dizziness. Problem: when engine is cold: -- continuous clicking sound coming from engine compartment. -- sound stops when clutch is depressed to shift gears, then starts again when gear is engaged. After engine warms up and am on the highway: -- sound seems to stop, but cannot be sure because of road noise problem: ice droplets discovered inside windshield. My Hyundai makes a clunking noise from the front end. It happens whenever I shift from park to drive/reverse, drive to reverse, and vice versa, and also if I speed up, or slow down quickly. I tried getting the vehicle checked out at a dealer, and I was told "I don't know why, but many of the Elantra's come from factory making that noise, and we don't know why. Obviously, if it was a safety issue, then Hyundai would have issued a recall by now. " I was upset by this statement, because it does cause my vehicle to jerk when I am accelerating and breaking, as well as other strange things, so I am concerned that there is a safety issue here. I did buy this vehicle pre-owned, and it has been happening since the day I bought it. I brought the vehicle back to try to get it repaired under warranty, but I was told that there wasn't anything that could be done to fix the issue. I feel really uncomfortable driving my own vehicle when there is something wrong with it, and according to the dealer, there is nothing I can do to resolve this issue.

The car won't start at times. I turn the key, all the lights and radio come on, no power to start the engine, no noise, no crank, nothing. If I wiggle the gear selector gently it will start. Last night it was stuck in park and I had to turn the car off, wiggle the selector a little again, and then it started and unlocked the gear selector. And yes, my foot is always firmly on the brake when I try to shift gears.

The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that while driving up an incline, the transmission made a loud clunky noise and shifted gears noisily. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the dealer performed a diagnostic and located the failure at the transmission. The transmission would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 139 and the current mileage was 218.

1) when slowing down at an intersection vehicle downshifts with a thumping noise and the car jerks violently. When accelerating from an intersection the vehicle upshifts with a violent jerk. 2) check engine light is on and dealer states the gear 4 ratio is incorrect. 3) dealer unable to perform replacement unless car owner covers cost.

This is my son's car. He had been stopped at a stop light and was proceeding to shift from 2nd to 3rd, he heard a grinding noise and the car felt like it had a flat tire. He put in the clutch and coasted to the nearby gas station. Smoke was coming out from underneath his car. When he looked, there was a trail of fluid and a puddle under his car. Car had to be towed -- needs whole new transmission (and vehicle has only 8,500 miles on it).

At 2,235 miles I was experiencing a harsh 2 to 3 upshift and alot of chugging noise. A whole new transmission was installed. The at 5. 630 miles I had a leak in the brake master cylinder. Both items are being repaired under warranty but it is very inconvenient and frustrating to have a new car have these "serious" problems.
