The transmission failed as I was driving and the vehicle is available for inspection. My safety was put at risk as the car failed suddenly and I was stuck on the side of the road with my children. The problem has been confirmed by my mechanic. It has not been confirmed by the manufacturer, police, or insurance no lights were on previous and the car seemed to be just fine.

Our Hyundai Elantra se 2017, engine blown. Started with knocking sound and when we stopped on the side of the highway it powered down. We have been told that unfortunately so many of Hyundai's vehicle engines have been super problematic within the last decade. We were stranded on vacation. Had to pay for towing twice and a rental car to get back to north carolina because we had to get back to work. We also have had to pay to diagnose the vehicle twice. We had the issue diagnosed with an independent service center tuffys auto in st. Johns florida and now it currently is at Hyundai in st. Augustine. We have been without our vehicle for over a month and with the trending problems with these engines we shouldnt have to come out of pocket to fix it. Hyundai corporate has not been helpful at all even though we have had a case manager for over a month and they havent given us any info.

I'm having issues with my car and I don't feel safe riding in it. While driving it start to coast. If I make a turn it shuts down. I am having some of the same issues some Elantra having but because the VIN# doesn't show a recall I'm penalize for having this car.
Due to cdk global cyberattack, I cannot complete my safety recall of my Hyundai Elantra 2015 (abs fuse that can cause engine to explode, according to Hyundai safety recall report). Hyundai does not allow dealerships to keep safety recall parts on hand (or a very small amount). I have to walk into the dealership to order the part. I cannot call to order the part. I have to constantly drive to place of work, home, sit in traffic, with a defective fuse that Hyundaiusa refuses to keep safety recall parts on hand. Please create a national policy against manufacturers to have a minimum units (1000 units of fuses, parts, etc) as the safety recall occurs. Because dealerships cannot order parts due to this cyberattack. My mental anguish of driving a vehicle that cannot have a safety recall repaired due to parts not being able to order (especially if they can keep large amounts of units on hand at dealers), is through the roof! I cannot take time off, I have to drive to not be evicted, anything repossessed, etc. And where I live has limited transportation options, (and told to use ride share like lyft or uber). Insurance companies is unhelpful. If manufacturers say they cannot keep parts on hand, then how do they ship the parts so quickly, under normal operations? 3rd party mechanic shops cannot order these parts as the manufacturer has to complete the recall repair.
I experienced an issue where I was driving the vehicle, and then a "hybrid system fault" message appeared on the driver information display followed by the complete loss of power. This made me have to pull over to the side of the road with no ability to accelerate out of the way of traffic to come to a stop. Once I was stopped I tuned off the vehicle and tried to turn it back on, but the vehicle would not respond so I attempted pressing the 12 volt battery reset button to the left of the steering wheel to see if this would allow me to turn the vehicle on and the car came back to life with no warning lights or messages and drove normally. This happened three more times over the course of ~1. 5 hrs on my way home on the highway. I understand that things happen, I just wish there was more warning before all power was cut and the vehicle went into limp mode as this left me in a dangerous situation. The vehicle has been dropped off at the dealer and is awaiting a new hybrid battery replacement under warranty.

Vehicle shut off 8 times on my wife while driving. Check engine light did come on with a warning from the vehicle stating a possible issue with our engine control system. Shortly after, while on the roadway, at about 35-40 mph, the car completely shut off. Luckily my wife was going to a church and the church men were able to push her car safely, with our kids inside, off the roadway and into the parking lot. Hyundai roadside assistance was contacted and vehicle was towed to matt bowers Hyundai in gulfport, ms on June 5th. During a 12 day stint at the dealership, it was determined that the problem was caused by the open safety campaign (bulletin 206) and the egr valve assembly was replaced. We took back delivery of the vehicle June 18th, 13 days after the tow/problem.

While driving on the expressway, my vehicle suddenly stalled out. I was able to restart in but the car would not go over 25mph. I was able to pull off the next exit and call for a tow truck. My vehicle was brought to a local shop and they pulled the engine and find that it was shot. Due to Hyundai, they requested to do their own diagnostic and found the same issue. The vehicle ad less than 80,000 miles on it. I received an invoice for repairs required which was over $16,000 in repairs including replacing the engine. I pleaded that they cover the engine and this seems to be a recurring issue with this model. They refused. I am stuck with a vehicle I cannot a drive and is now sitting in my driveway with no option but to wait for a open recall.

While diving the vehicle started to sputter and the ignition turned off. I was able to start it but the vehicle was making loud clunking sounds and max speed of 10mph. I pulled off on the side of the road and called for a tow to a reputable repair clinic. I told them what happened and they stayed they would be required to remove the engine to determine the issue. $$$ I paid the funds and they informed me the engine was shot. The vehicle has just over 80,000 miles. I contacted Hyundai directly and was told the manufacturer 100,000 mile powertrain warranty was invalid due to me not being the I original owner. I convinced them to take a look and make their determination. After paying out of pocket again for towing and the $175 I initial service fee Hyundai again told me the engine was shot and their was other issues alongside the engine that would need to be fixed. They gave me a quote of over $16,000+ on a vehicle that was less than 6 years old and under 85000 miles. None of which they stated was covered under their powertrain warranty. The vehicle is blue booked at about $5,000 and I spent less the what would be required to repair the vehicle. Hyundai has been zero help, they have not supported their product even after I was told by a reputable resalesman that there is a silent recall on this engine for this issue. Im left without a car, still being required to pay the car payment to the loan company and keep full coverage on a car that hasn't driven since early may 2024 and the insurance company isn't helping because the vehicle wasn't in a accident and is an electrical/manufacturing issue, regardless that I have loan lease payoff. I honestly need some advice. Not to mention I am a disabled veteran, Hyundai will not pull any strings. It's sad because I know this is no fault of my own and had taken care of all the vehicles needs when required (oil, tires, spark plugs, alignments ect. . What should I do??.
I have a code "p0867 transmission fluid pressure" that showed up on my car. Yes. Dealership refused to fix under "service campaign 963". Dealership confirmed issue. No. There is a check engine light that appeared. To continue after the questions, max Hyundai of manhattan, address: 8020 us-24, manhattan, KS 66502. Refused to fix my vehicle under "service campaign 963". As the service campaign indicates code p0867 must be present, which it is. As well as a VIN that starts with 5np, which my vehicle also has. As well as 20my Elantra's. Which my car falls into that category as well.

This vehicle recently had a new engine and new transmission installed into it in February of this year. Less than 10k miles on it. The engine light came on on 4/12/2024 and I took it back to the dealer immediately. They called me on 4/15/2024 stating that their engineers and techs had had problems on the transmission recently installed on it due to manufacturing and/or faulty parts, and to replace that transmission with a new one. Still waiting to get the vehicle back at this point in time.
Initial report on March 7, 2022 (approx. 94k miles), second report on Dec. 12, 2023 (approx. 111,700 miles). Third report March 27, 2024: recent event occurred on March 23, 2024 (approx. 112k miles) when my vehicle suddenly stopped moving while driving 55mph on a freeway with child passenger in the vehicle, putting both of us at risk for collision. Vehicle did not have any warning lights turn on prior to or during event. The vehicle did not move again after multiple attempts to accelerate to exit freeway safely. After shifting to neutral and back to drive, the vehicle suddenly jolted and accelerated randomly while holding foot on the gas pedal (no control over timing of acceleration). We were able to exit the freeway safely. This same issue repeated multiple times while driving us to a safe area to call for a tow truck. The vehicle was towed to dealership location it was originally purchased at on March 26, 2024. Diagnostics appointment scheduled for March 28, 2024. I have completed oil change services on this car about every 1,200 miles to keep the engine running since there was no solution for any of my previous reports to dealership (even when opening a case with Hyundai), their previous determination was to close case since the diagnostics report did not show error codes in report. Previous dealership advisor made a verbal comment that the real problem is something their computers do not scan codes for, and his recommendation was to "drive it til the wheels fall off" after paying thousands in services that did not solve the root problem. Hoping this appointment will lead to a safer outcome.

I have been encountering a series of troubling and erratic issues with my vehicle. These problems occur under various driving conditions, including acceleration, steady-state driving, and braking. However, the most prevalent and problematic occurrences seem to transpire during acceleration and braking. During acceleration, I've observed inconsistent behavior. Sometimes, the car shifts smoothly, with minimal torque drop between gears. On other occasions, the vehicle accelerates initially but then abruptly loses all power between gears, resembling the sensation of someone engaging the clutch in a manual vehicle and shifting slowly. This results in a temporary power loss lasting 1-2 seconds, followed by an over-revving and clutch slip, leading to an unintended surge in acceleration. The issues I've encountered during braking typically begin with a chattering noise and vibrations that seem to be an imbalanced or shocked reciprocating mass, I can assume maybe one of the clutches/flywheel . This is often followed by decreased brake pedal linearity, requiring increased brake pedal pressure to stop. This normally results in an unintended aggressive forward jerk just before coming to a stop, akin to someone releasing a clutch on a manual transmission vehicle too quickly when downshifting while the engine speed is too low. One night I went to get diapers for my baby and it was raining and I hit the breaks and the breaks lost control and I crashed into a median wall and my car kept spinning around. Ambulance were called and I was admitted to the hospital with minor injuries.
Started noticing my 2020 Elantra was "jerking", "lurching" while in motion of driving. Rpm would shoot up. A handful of times I would be losing power and almost not make to where I was headed. Starting/turning from a dead stop, I would have no power and then suddenly it would surge and then I could get up to speed. I did not have any indication before hand or while driving. I did not have any lights come up, while driving or when it did the startup check when turned on. I barely made it to a auto service, he drove it from one end of the parking lot to the other, then whipped into a bay for him to look at. I was told it was the transmission, specifically cvt slippage and he suggested I do not drive home.
The contact owns a 2023 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that while driving at 55 mph and above, the rpm fluctuated and the engine revved loudly. The transmission then seized in 5th gear, and the vehicle lost motive power. No warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the failure recurred while driving at 65–70 mph with the cruise control activated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The failure persisted, and the vehicle made an abnormally loud sound while the transmission was shifted into park (p). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,600.
For the past two weeks, the car has intermittently stalled out and the engine, oil, and battery lights come on. The dashboard electronics and radio stay on. When this happens, I have to put the car in park and turn it off, then turn it back on. It has restarted immediately each time and drives normally. It has stalled out multiple times in a day, but not everyday. I took it to my mechanic twice to pull an error code from the warning lights, but he could not. My safety and the safety of others were put at risk when it stalled out while I was deaccelerating on an exit ramp that merges with three other lanes. I could have been hit from behind by others exiting the interstate highway or hit on either side of my car from drivers switching lanes at that junction. It stalled out the same day in the middle of a roundabout, where drivers yield and merge at 30 mph. I've noticed that when it stalls out, I'm usually braking or the vehicle is turning. The car is currently at the mechanic, who has not yet been able to reproduce the stalling and warning lights, but he did pull a diagnostic trouble code: p010600; description: manifold absolute pressure/barometric pressure circuit range/performance. He's not sure if it's a faulty sensor or if something is causing the trouble code since the warning lights weren't on with the code. The car has not yet been inspected by the dealership or others.
I took the vehicle in for it's regular oil change on 1/19/2024. My regular mechanic stated to me that "the engine is knocking, you need to get it to the dealer so they can fix the issue as it should be under warranty. " he finished the oil change and we came home and immediately made an appointment with our local Hyundai dealer - that appointment is on 1/30/2024 at 9 am. This is an extremely concerning issue as it affects the whole vehicle and the ability of it to be driven and last a long time. No warning lamps, or messages occurred for this issue, only the statement by my regular mechanic. I want to make sure this is documented in case Hyundai tries to get out of fixing the issue. This could be a very expensive problem. The appointment was made for the 30,000 mile service, but I will make sure they are aware of the engine issue when I take it in as well.
The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle was able to be restarted. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 95,000.
Horn has now shut off at 11k miles. Jerky shifting transmission combustion engine failed to start several occasions. Many error warnings for the lane keep assist.
My vehicle keeps shutting down while I’m driving. It happened 5 times in the past week and twice today. It happens when I’m driving slow to make a turn or after the car has been stopped for a while (I. G. Stop light and drive through window). Three out of five times were in areas where I could safely restart my car. The other two were in the middle of a busy expressway while making a turn and passing through a busy intersection. I was almost hit from behind. The car that swerved to avoid hitting me was also nearly hit by a vehicle in the other lane. I’ve done research and several other people had this issue but there’s no recall on my car. I don’t know if it’s a battery issue or electrical wiring, etc. , but it is terrifying. Each time it happens my vehicle makes a strange rattling nose and I can’t quite tell where it’s coming from. The car also shakes for a while afterwards.
Engine seized while going 55-60mph with warning lights only 15 seconds before my vehicle completely stopped on the highway (route 18 east brunswick, NJ) the engine was replaced by Hyundai along with the manifold and catalytic converter. Vehicle lost all control and power and started excessively knocking while I tried to get to the shoulder but only made it to the right lane. The safety of others and myself were out at risk due to no control of the vehicle. Repair order attached.
The contact owns a 2020 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine light was illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 98,000.
All of the following has occurred to me; delayed or sluggish acceleration gear slips shaking, shuddering, or juddering harsh or rough shifts immobility or stalling thumping and other objectional sounds my car has just over 25000 miles. I have only had it serviced at the dealership. I have complained about this issue to only get a software reset which. Doesn’t solve the issue. The last time I left it at the dealership for this issue , they had it for weeks , was told that the issue was replicated , only got a software reset. My problem persist and only seems to be getting worse.

Auto would not go into reverse or drive gears at startup in regular parking space. Received a bluetooth message that drive train would not function. Towed to dealership where problem confirmed. Electric engine ordered along with high voltage wires. Upon installation of these parts it was discovered that the assay harness was severely crimped during construction of vehicle at the factory and had crimped (cut) wires. Parts ordered and repaired. Hyundai refused to install new electric motor, only replaced harness and wires. Please note this appears to be a defective auto as built at the factory.
Twice with this 2022 Hyundai Elantra a rabbit has chewed partially through a wire to the transmission. Some soy based coating that Hyundai uses is delicious to rabbits, then they partially chew through the wire, resulting in power and transmission issues during operation, including revving engine, failure to change gears, and unable to reverse. These wires need better protection as being chewed on causes a safety issue while driving before a check engine light comes on.

This normally results in an unintended aggressive forward jerk just before coming to a stop, akin to someone releasing a clutch on a manual transmission vehicle too quickly when downshifting while the engine speed is too low. The steady-state symptom occurs less frequently but occasionally involves a momentary loss of power, almost resembling a backfire without the noise. I can only assume that this is related to brief disengagement of the clutches. I sought assistance by taking my vehicle to a local dealership who kept it for a little over a week. Unfortunately, they were unable to reproduce these issues, and no actions were taken to address my concerns. This unpredictable behavior from the vehicle often catches me and my passengers off guard and really makes it hard to trust the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, she heard an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine compartment, and the vehicle lost all motive power. The driver was able to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle then stalled and failed to restart. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a general engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 155,000.

Car still jerks forward after their “repair” attempts. Car will also not accelerate on the highway and won’t go past 55 without engine codes and the car going limp.
When driving (typically at a low speed) the engine will shut off with no warning.
My car has randomly shut off 2 times in the last 48-72 hours. The first time in happened was a stop light, while idling the vehicle shutoff and restarted. The second time it happened was while actively driving the vehicle approximately 30 mph. The vehicle has been taken to a local dealership and they are unable to figure out why this is happening. There is no check engine light or any other warning lights present both times this has happened. This is a huge risk for this to happen while the car is actually in motion.

My engine is ticking. The auto shop told me that my motor is shot and the same thing happened to my sons car. We both have the same car same year. There has been a law suit for this issue.
2022 Hyundai Elantra hybrid limited with 25000 was fine when I drove home from work. An hour or two later, got in vehicle which then shuddered and died. Manufacturer deflected blame to avoid performing repair under warranty but needed a new alternator. Car went into limp mode and just would not start once engine cylinders misfired (all cylinders misfired!). This issue after they refused to repair or tow, deemed it safe but almost wrecked due to it dying when driving off the lot assured there was no issue.
My 2023 Hyundai Elantra vehicle displays a low oil pressure message when accelerating. Is this related to the recent recall for the electric oil pump assembly that may overheat and increase the risk of a fire?.
Transmission studders and looses acceleration while driving.
