I was driving on a city street going approx. 30 mph when the car felt like it had downshifted into a low gear. The tachometer wa revving between 4,000 and 5,000 rpms even though I was slowing. I pulled to the side of the road but was unable to put the car in park as the gear shift was stuck in drive. After several attempts to put the car in park, I pulled the gear shift down as low as it would go past d(rive) and then I was able to push it up into the park position. Once I put the car back into drive again the engine and transmission were normal.

I have taken my car to 2 Hyundai dealerships to be looked at. When I drive my car gets stuck in a high gear & gives me a hard time driving unless I accelerate dramatically to drop the rpms & the car will drop gears. I live on a very steep hill & came close to a very dangerous accident due to this issue. My car did not want to make it up my hill because the car makes a loud noise. The day this happened it was snowing & I had to accelerate to make it up & almost crashed because my car was rolling back down the hill & I live off of a busy intersection.
I bought the car brand new. After about 8 months the car would get stuck in second gear when slow down. The car also kicks very hard while it does this. One time I was rounding a turn after it rained and as I slowed down around the corner the car kicked and the rear end of the car slid out into the plastic divider poles between the lanes. The poles caused a ding in the car an cracked a window. At the time it happened so fast I thought I had hit something and only a week later when the car kicked again did I realize that was probably what happened. I brought the car down to the dealer and was told I would be given a new pulse generator under warranty. Then there was a recall on a part in the transmission and that was fixed. The problem still persisted and I have had the pulse generator changed four more times. My warranty is now up and the problem has come back. I have even installed a brand knew transmission.

The transmissions on these cars fail and get stuck in gears causing dangerous driving situations and breakdowns. I had several of these cars as company transportation and they all have the same problem.

In December, 2000, with only 5000 miles on the car, the transmission locked up and needed to be towed back to the dealer. Since then, the car has had nothing but transmission troubles. The transmission has gotten stuck in 2nd gear while out on the high way. When slowing down, it has suddenly jerked into first gear, causing the car to not accelerate. It has jerked into 2nd gear, feeling like the car has been rear ended. Each time it has been back to the dealer, they can find nothing wrong with the car. Presently, at 45,000 miles, it is getting another new transmission.
While driving automatic transmission stuck between gears, and vehicle lurched forward, causing driver to lose control. Vehicle ran off the road due to this problem.
