While parked in my driveway, my wife tried to lower and move sideways the passenger side sun visor, made a loud "crack" noise and it broke off the hinge, leaving the electrical wires exposed and that's the only thing keeping it up. I'm afraid it will cause a short circuit if wires break and touch the metal edge. Now the visor will not stay up and she's hit the side of her face twice while getting into the car.
The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that both the driver and passenger side sun visors became fractured. The manufacturer was notified, who stated that there was no recall for the failure and offered no other assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 60,000.
Both sun visors have failed on our 2007 Hyundai Elantra. When the driver's visor fell off while driving down the road, it nearly caused an accident because it was hanging in front of my face, and I couldn't see where I was going. I have since removed the visors altogether, and now have problems driving in the morning or late afternoon due to the sun shining in my face.
I am 5' 1" tall or short!! the sun was shining in my eyes and I needed the driver side visor down. It would not open so I had to apply a little pressure. The triangular clamp and the visor rod broke. I read that there have been several complaints in this regard but Hyundai refuses to replace it for free. The mileage is less than 60,000 miles.

Both the driver's side and the passenger's side sun visors fell completely off while I was driving (this happened three weeks apart). Because there is a vanity light in each visor, the wires broke when the visors fell. The bare wires touched and shorted out my electrical system. It's not under warranty anymore, but it seems as though this must be some kind of manufacturing defect since it happened to both visors!.
The contact owns a 2001 Hyundai Elantra. While driving 15 mph, the driver side sun visor broke and fell on the steering wheel, causing him to pull off the road. The dealer stated that had to purchase the sun visor and bracket to repair the problem. The contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000.
Sun visors no longer stay flush to roof and drop unexpectedly into line of vision. Visors on both driver's and passenger's side are affected. Cannot easily remove visor since connected by wire for light. Visors replaced out of warranty.
Hyundai Elantra 2006 has a very strange problem with inside mirror. Mirrors gets dark by itself for some reason and when you touch it and move a little bit mirror comes back on. Dark means it gets black and turns darker such that you can't see from that mirror. Also Hyundai's mirror automated-switches are faulty. They don't work sometimes, sometimes they do only for up-down but not left-right. Switch changed by dealer but the problem remains.
My complaint deals with the front window. It was cracked while driving on a highway by a small rock. The car is five months old. I have heard of two other owners of the same vehicle who have a similar experiences with cracks and expansion in the front window of Hyundai Elantra model 08.
The contact owns a 2006 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that the heat will blow only when the vehicle is in motion. She is unable to defrost the windows in the mornings because the heat does not blow through the defroster. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer for repair at least four times, but they stated that the issues were a normal occurrence for her vehicle. The dealer called the manufacturer and they arrived from California to inspect the vehicle. The contact was informed that the case would be closed since the vehicle was designed to function in that manner. The failure mileage was 36,000. Updated 02-26-09 updated 02/26/09.
I am 87 years old and bought a 2000 Elantra brand new in 1999. I have only put 25,000 miles on this car in 7 years and the only time I have opened the rear windows was when I hit the wrong button by mistake. Well recently my son drove the car and opened the rear windows - both of them failed in one week. When we took it to the dealership they wanted to charge $69 per window just to diagnose the problem. My son said that they have to know what the problem is cause we can't have the only Elantra that had this problem and since there was virtually no use of the windows it had to be a faulty design or motor. The service man swore up and down they were not aware of any recurring problem with the back windows. They called me and said it would cost $375 per window to replace the window regulators. That is a total of $750 for both windows. I feel I have been deceived and lied to after finding this website with the number of window problems reported and no one in my family will ever recommend or buy another Hyundai product from a dealership.

2001 Hyundai Elantra GLS -- one month ago (January 2007) the airbag light on the dashboard commenced slowly, dimly appearing then slowly fading out in one continuous cycle of several seconds. The condition repeats as long as the ignition is switched "on. " I noticed Hyundai's recall of the 2001 Hyundai Elantra for exactly that problem and took the vehicle to the local dealership for repair. Evidently, the condition is caused by one-or-more faulty airbag sensors. The result, according to the recall information, is that one or more airbags may not deploy when activated. The dealer entered my vehicle's VIN, told me that my vehicle was not covered by the recall and refused to replace the sensors without charge. Because of the exorbitant cost of replacement, please ask Hyundai to include my vehicle in the recall and/or mail me a letter of credit that I can give to the dealer to have this condition repaired. Accordingly, I must continue to drive the vehicle in this condition until I hear from you and/or Hyundai, here concerned. Otherwise, last June, 2006, both sun visor retaining brackets (holding the visor to the roof) cracked about a month apart, rendering the sun visors useless, in that the placement of the visor cannot be controlled. . . It simply drops and hangs when released from the retainer. My driver's side bracket broke just at the most inopportune moment, when the sun was shining directly into my eyes at a level just above the top of the steering wheel. I feel fortunate to have been on a lightly traveled road at the time, such that I pulled over onto the shoulder for a few minutes until the sun rose a bit higher in the sky. Those brackets should last longer than this; likewise, the airbag sensors should last longer than this. Abl. Pco.
The ball joints cracked which caused the front left tire to become detached from the vehicle while driving approximately 70 mph on the freeway. The consumer contacted the manufacturer but they have not done anything about the issue. The vehicle's tcm/ecm software failed which caused the transmission to slip/surge while driving. The vehicle would not go into reverse due to an internal failure. The dealer replaced the a/t assembly and flushed the a/t fluid. The left sunvisor was coming apart. The visor clips broke and as a result they could not hold the visor in a stable position. Seat belt bolt cover broke. The passenger side door lock was hard for the passenger to unlock from the driver's side. The dealer replaced the door latch and actuator assembly. The vehicle's heater took about an hour to effectively warm the vehicle. The dealer determined that the blend door was loose at the actuator.
