The air bag sensor in my car is defective. This was already a recall by Hyundai, but for reasons I don't understand does not include my car and I believe it should have. It is the right make, model, and year the original recall included. Apparently the seatbelt tension adjuster is also involved in my case.
There was a recall on the OCS sensor which was fixed by Hyundai couple of years ago. Now this problem has again appeared which Hyundai USA does not want to take care of. This is a safety issue and a manufacturing defect and should be taken care of by Hyundai USA.
Takata recall my car dashboard indicates the airbag is on countinously and the passenger seat belt light is flashing even there is no one on the seat. I went to Hyundai dealer and they check the problem and the error code is b1447 but, they tell me this error is not recall for my car and they are ready to fix it but with buying about $1500 for just the part which is OCS sensor in the passenger seat plus the labor work I need your help for this issue, it is related to my family safety, please.
My airbag sensor light has been on for the past few months. I've looked online and saw that this is a common complaint for Hyundai's. Also, my esc light goes on and sometimes stays on. Again another complaint with this car. Both are safety issues that seem to be negligent on the manufactures part. With the number of complaints that have been logged this should be a safety recall issue that Hyundai should be responsible for.
The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Sonata. While operating the vehicle with the front passenger seat occupied, the front passenger air bag sensor light illuminated, which indicated that the air bag system was turned off. The contact also indicated that the seat belts randomly activated while operating the vehicle. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. My passenger airbag is no longer active. A dashboard light has come on / stays on, saying airbag not working and the passenger seat belt causes the dashboard light to constantly blink, because the occupant matt sensor is not functioning /code b1448 sensor has deactivated for the airbag. This is a major safety issue and Hyundai hasnot recalled this . I called Hyundai to check and the repair is extremely expensive. Hyundai has has numerous similar problems with other models. Red "air bag" instrument panel light came on and has not gone off in 5 days. I am currently planning to make an appointment with a Hyundai dealer to address another air bag issue with the passenger air bag system under a recall initially released on 4/2008, but which I have only recently received notice in the past few months. This recall does not address the current problem as I understand it from various consumer forums. However there are a substantial number of people complaining about this similar issue that appears to be all part of a defective OCS system overall. Since the red lamp indicates that the air bag system is now deactivated, this raises a more serious issue than the passenger sensor issue, since now the driver as well is unprotected.
Passenger front seat air bag buckle/sensor assembly has failed. After seeing so many similar reports, I want to make aware that I have similar issues. I am also wondering if this has anything to do with the recall on the OCS? I have yet to have the recall fixed, because they have refused to do so, until I received another letter and called Hyundai. Who then called the dealer. Am still waiting for the results.

2007 Hyundai Sonata front passenger air bag sensor light fails to shut off when passenger is sitting there. Problem reluctantly resolved and the seat was reportedly replaced. The condition has returned with the new seat. Wife weighs 125 pounds. I have photo's of light on for at least 10 minutes.
Passenger airbag light stayed on ( I should say was off ) even when daughter who weighs 110lbs sat in the seat. This began at 2,000 miles. Took to dealer they said they did not see a problem and never fixed . . Mileage now 3,200 and still does it at random.
Airbag light stays on dimly when passenger(over 120lbs) is seated. This happens at will not all the time. We can make it turn off by stopping the vehicle and getting out of the car and reentering. We are concerned that the airbag will be inoperative if the indicator is lit. We called the dealer and have are not reassured that this isn't a real problem. Scheduled again for a dealer check.

The "passenger front air bag" light does not turn off when my wife, who weighs 123lbs, rides in front passenger side. This means that the front air bags are not activated. Went to dealer for service & was informed that this was within factory specifications. Spoke to Hyundai hq & was informed that specifications should be 80lbs. We have an initial appointment for 9/18 to meet with a company service rep, which we can not meet (we will be up north visiting g'kids) advised to make appointment after our return late September, which appointment would be in October. In the mean time I guess we are to drive extra carefully. If this happened to us there must be many more out there. This is potentially a very dangerous situation & no one from the company or dealer seems to be concerned, when I want this taken care of immediately.

My 23 year old daughter traveled with me before she was recently married. She has moved to GA but I will be moving her back home to FL when her husband is deployed. The airbag system never worked for her no matter how we made her sit in my car. She is 5'7" and weighs 130#. My dealer will not fix my air bag sensor because she is not here with me so they can see that it is not working. They told me to drive to GA and have my car fixed there after I show a dealer in GA that she activates the deactivation of the airbag. This will leave her at risk of injury when she comes home to see me. I am a former child passenger safety technician instructor and I bought this car because of the airbags. I want my system disabled so my air bag will remain on. How can I get my car fixed? laurie.
