Driving home from work one day at 55miles per hr my engine just stalled out and turned off , since then the engine makes a clicking sound and has lost all power , and the tires make a clicking sound when I turn.
First, my low beams quit working months ago. Bulbs are good. I even took it in to a shop to have it checked. They said they couldn't find anything and that it was an electrical issue. That makes sense since I just started having issues with the dome lights inside as well. Have to have the inside lights turned off or they will not go off. Most recently, on the highway on my way to work, my car lost power and the dash lit up with lights and I had to pull over. Started making a loud clanging noise as well. Took it to the shop again to get it looked at. They said my oil was almost gone. No oil on the dipstick. I just recently had the oil changed! should not be out of oil. They further noted that there were no signs of oil leakage anywhere. Suggested that the engine was faulty and was excessively burning oil. Not sure what I aza m supposed to do now. I have a issues with safety due to my lights not working, and a bigger issue with my engine not working properly. I need help!.
Driving car and it stalled and died. Engine making clucking sound. Had to tow to mechanic engine locked up. Also before engine failure car hard to start . The vehicle was in motion when died in the city.
My engine light has been on for 6 months and I had the timer sensor replaced twice. And it is still on. My car steering wheel vibrates at times. The steering wheel makes a cracking noise while parking or pulling out. Also my airbag light has been on continuous for 6 months over the steering wheel. Keep taking it to the shop and told to check recalls but my car is never listed.
I have only had the car for about 6-7 months I bought it from a private owner I changed the oil and bought a new battery. The car did high milage at 194,000 miles I still bought the car. Last week while on my lunch break I was in my way to go pay my car insurance when I seen I had 32 miles to empty which I never let it get that low but I did obviously that day. As I begin to go up hill it felt like it stuttered so I figured I was running out of gas. But as I came over the hill I press on the gas and noticed that it revved up and to my knowledge the car was locked up the steering wheel was not able to turn the breaks were locked up and all my dash lights were on. I was scared and just let the car coast down the hill approaching a red light with traffic stopped all I could do was hope I didnt get it or hit no one else for not having much control over the car I braked as much as I could and coasted it into a gas station to where. I made it to the pump and turned the off off and went and got gas for the car. Tried to turn it over and not a thing happen sounded dead battery like it wanted to start but once I turned the key and it did not start if I tried right after just made a click click noise. I took my battery out and home to charge thinking maybe a bad cell or maybe alternator. Bought new battery and it not start so no not the alternator. I am at lost for words tried to turn the crankshaft and wont budge. Am I able to still get this looked at by Hyundai even if I just bought the car. Its registered to me if it is caused by these recalls does the car have to still be running for me to be able to recieve the benefits I have never had a car just straight die. Never made any noise or smoke or got hot. Also I noticed when I have the key and drop it down into all the gears it goes but when I slap it over to the manual side I can go from 1st to 2sd and that's it.
I was driving my car down the street and it made a clanking sound and then it just turned off and wouldn't start again.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the air bag indicator was illuminated and a clicking noise was heard from the steering column. The dealer (north town Hyundai, 7420 transit road, williamsville, NY) cleared all the recall codes that were pending on the vehicle, but the clicking noise and air bag indicator failures still persisted. In addition, smoke emerged from the engine compartment. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 106,457.
Engine suddenly lost power while making a clattering sound from within the engine as we were driving on a highway at about 55 mikes o'er hour. Local mechanics say it is in the lower part if the engine. There are articles in the internet stating that there was a recall due to metal shavings but I cannot find the actual recall.
Takata recall : Hyundai Sonata limited edition had proper maintenance on it while driving it shut off on me made a click noise wouldn't start at all thought it was my starter had a machanic to fix it later found out after spending over $300 it's not the starter it was my engine that burnt out and burnt my starter now I need for someone to explain to me how this happened with no warning at all no lights came on the dash to warn me it just completely shut off on me and my grand daughter in this terrible heat. . . . .
Electric failure at first, always stuck on road. Engine was replaced on recall, clunking sound underneath, struts replaced and had to pay, that did not fix problem, then they replaced coupling in steering wheel, noise still happening with clunking sound, which also is wearing out tires in front thst were replaced 3 x. Dealer did not fix problem, they dont know what it is. , clunking is while driving over a little bump or while steering car and turning.
My car model, Hyundai Sonata 2011, has been recalled for engine issues. I checked the VIN number of my car and my car has been affected. When I took my car to dealership they told me because my car is not making a clicking noise they will not fix it. I told them that my car has been recalled and I want them to take care of it. They refused it because according to them they did not hear anything. Recently my car started making clicking noises when I turn my wheel. It seems that the steering wheel is loose. I can especially feel it when I go through bumps. Even when I am stopped and turn the wheel from side to side I can hear the noise. I am hoping that when I take my car to dealership they will fix the problem as I saw a recall for this issue as well. Looks like the dealership only wants to fix the smaller type of recalls and not the major pricy ones.
The car was in motion at approximately 40mph when the oil light on the dash illuminated. The engine then shut off, causing a loss of power and absence of braking assist, which made the car very difficult to stop. The car did start again, but made a loud banging/clunking noise. I drove it the next day and it did the same thing again, and the clunking became louder. It appears to have spun a bearing judging from the loss of oil pressure and the noise (oil level checks out fine). This could have caused a serious accident if it had happened on busy roadway like the one that I travel to and from work. This occurred with approximately 115,300 miles on the odometer. I had the recall 132 inspection done on this car at 110,485 miles, and it passed at that time. Please note that this dangerous failure is still happening after the recall inspection is performed. The inspection procedure may not be sufficient to diagnose this issue.
The starter on my 2011 Hyundai Sonata is inoperable. It doesnt turnover. Ive the key in the ignition several times. There is no clicking noise; it's silent. My Hyundai only has 67,281 miles. I've kept up with all recalls and the regular maintenance schedule of my vehicle. Please advise.
Vehicle is making a loud clicking sound in the steering column and while turning either left or right its a double clicking loud sound. While the vehicle is at a still position when you turn the wheel you can hear a clicking noise both right or left. If you hit a bump you can hear a loud annoying sound like something is loose. It gets louder and louder. You can hear it over the radio. This happens either on streets and the interstate aka highway.
I drove my car to work and it was just fine, went to leave that evening and my vehicle started making a clicking noise and then would not crank at all. It then poured liquid from the engine and I knew there was a bad problem. I contacted Hyundai and they said there was a recall on my engine and that it would have to be replaced but it could take months to do this. I understand and am very grateful for this but I'm a full time college student and I have a job and I'm left without a vehicle. I've asked about a loaner until mine is done and they told me no because I'm not 25. I'm just out of luck and they will not help me and seem to be in no hurry to get my vehicle back to me. I can't rent one because I'm too young and I bought a $1500 to get me through and now it's not working. I need someone to please help me!!.
The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. While driving approximately 65 mph, a loud noise came from the engine and the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was coasted to the side of the road and turned off. Previously, the steering column made a popping noise and the vehicle shook. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that nothing could be done. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the recall was closed and referred the contact to the dealer. The failure was not remedied. The failure mileage was approximately 113,822.
The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. While the contact's daughter was driving 20 mph, the vehicle sputtered, made a knocking noise, and lost power. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to southern states Subaru of raleigh (2511 wake forest rd, raleigh, nc 27608 (888) 439-5154) where it was diagnosed with a faulty engine that needed replacement. The contact stated that the vehicle was serviced per NHTSA campaign number: 15v568000 (engine). Upon retrieving the vehicle from the dealer, a clicking sound was heard coming from the steering column and underneath the vehicle. The dealer informed the contact of a recall for the steering coupler, but the vehicle was over the mileage and could not be repaired per the manufacturer recall. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v190000 (steering), but was unsure if the recall was serviced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and reffered the contact to Hyundai awards to repair the vehicle. The contact stated that the manufacturer inquired of an estimate of the repairs. Without an estimate, the contact quoated $500. The vehicle was then taken to johnson Hyundai of cary (5000 old raleigh rd, cary, nc 27511(919) 439-2059) where it was diagnosed with a steering coupler and axle failure. The technician stated that the axle damage occurred at the time of the engine replacement. The contact called the manufacturer again with a more accurate repair cost of $800, and was informed that they would only pay $500 towards the repair. The failure mileage was 90,043.
I unfortunatley have the sonora with the engine recall which to me is asking why Hyundai just isn't replacing engines regardless of failure? there is no resale in a car with this open recall . My other issue I need to have addressed is my steering was upgraded and approximatley a month or so after I heard a clunking noise in the driveway when I turn the steering wheel from side to side, I called my dealer ( Hyundai 112 in medford ,n. Y ) and it was almost scripted ,I was told it's a bushing or something he said and it's not part of the recall. I have to pay for this. If you check online you will see it's a major failure ,why it would be such a flimsy plastic gear in steering ? I hope you can remedy this as a recall. My car had no noise until the steering was quote upgraded by Hyundai , again plastic piece in a steering motor?.
I have had this car a little over a year now. It has made the same noise since I've had it. I've been to the huynda dealer many times. They don't understand what's wrong. When your car is between 2000 rpm and 3000 rpms or steadily at 2000 it makes a continuous raddle noise coming from the engine and continues until you take your foot off the accelerator. You want to know my opinion about the damn car? anyone who owns one should be given a new one. Because the car is a piece of crap. Now I also saw a complaint about someone having to replace the coupler. I have documentation that shows I paid the Hyundai to replace my steering coupler. It was over 300 dollars. When your driving down the road the steering is hard to control and the wheel makes a clicking noise. So I took it in and they coupler needed to be replaced. I want reimbursement and you guys should implement another recall about replacing everyone's coupler. You guys should make Hyundai give everyone a new car who has gone through al the mess we have.
Car started making a metallic clicking noise at highway speeds and then stalled when trying to accelerate. I was able to get the car off to the side of the highway. The dealership indicated that the engine was shot. Appears to be related to NHTSA 15v568.
I purchased my lemon vehicle from webb Hyundai in highland, in and purchased it used in March of 2013. I'm always hearing about this 100000 miles warranty, my vehicle hadn't quite made it to that, when I first questioned the clicking in the steering wheel and shaking of my vehicle; because my car was used for me to daily travel throughout the entire state of indiana, my vehicle in July 2017 had exceeded the 100000 mile and the used warranty stated coverage only up to 60,000. However, I wrote Hyundai, took it back on several occassion and they did actually fix my engine, thanks to the recall, in which they first denied me for 45 days, when I receive my vehicle back I told them about the clicking noise and I always was given some lame excuse and it's amazing how in July of 2017 they were constantly calling my phone and I even got an email on July 12, 2017 on how they've been attempting to phone me, not mentioning all the continual calls I had given them prior to this. However, during this time our family was dealing with a crisis in which me getting back with them was not as urgent and when I did try returning the call on several attempts between August and September of 2017, I never received a call back and I still have ownership of the awesome lemon that was sold to me.
I took my car in to len stoler Hyundai at 11275 reisterstown road owings mills MD on Feb 08 2016 for a recall campaign 132 and campaign 136. I was told everything had been inspected and was fine. On Feb 14th 2016 I was driving home late at night on a residential street when I noticed a noise, clicking sound when suddenly the car stalled. I called my son and he tried to start the car. The oil gauge indicator was on and when he inspected it indicated that oil was very low. Which was unusal because at the time of the recall, I was told my oil was low and I also had an oil and filter done. There was no indication of any leaking from the bottom of my car then nor at the time the car stalled. My son put more oil in the car. The car wouldn't start and he pushed it to the side of the road. The next morning I called aaa and took it back to len stoler Hyundai. Its been three weeks and they are still fixing it.
The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. After the vehicle was started, an abnormal clunking sound emitted from the engine and the vehicle vibrated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician added a fuel additive and fuel system cleaner, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 57,000.
2011 Hyundai Sonata. Consumer writes in regards to NHTSA's campaign number 15v-568. Consumer states that vehicle was repaired but the issue still exist. The consumer stated the brake light switch was replaced several times, and there was clicking sound coming from the steering wheel.
Car still idles but does not accelerate while in motion while driving in the dark (only) my traction light comes on. During this time, while I am driving, the car fails to accelerate. It will lose all momentum. The car never shuts off. I have to remove my foot from the gas and reapply it, for the car to correct itself. Very scary. I drive on the highway everyday to and from work. Sometimes it does it repeatedly, giving my car a "hopping" feeling. It does not do it every morning but at least 3-5 times a week. Some days I am worried I will not make it to work or worse get hit from losing speed. My car also makes a clanking noise while I am reversing. I have had it shut off on me once while driving on the highway during rush hour traffic. Sat for about an hour on the shoulder before the car would start again. I received letters in the mail about a recall and took it on February 4, 2016 to the Hyundai dealership. Was there for almost 3 hours. They fixed my brake stopping pad and some handles on the doors but said there was nothing wrong with the engine. . . . . I am not sure if they were honest or not after reading some of the comments on carcomplaints. Com.

I was driving my 2011 Hyundai Sonata on a mountain road 10/4/2014 when it started to make a clicking sound coming from the engine. Before I even had the chance to pull over all of my sensors went of the the engine completely died including power brakes and steering. Huge safety concern as I was driving on a winding mountain road. Dealership is telling me I have to replace my engine and because I'm the second owner the 100,000 mile warranty doesn't apply to me. This vehicle needs to be recalled for this huge manufacturing and overly dangerous flaw.
Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle a knocking and clicking noise was present coming from the engine. Oil changed 1-1. 5 months ago. On 8/5/14 while driving home the car started having a ticking noise coming from the motor and the oil light quickly flashed but then went away. Made a right turn and there was a squealing noise followed by a loud boom. Car then began to have a clunk coming from the motor and would stutter like it was trying to stall out. Checked the oil and there was not much in the motor. No oil leaks. Car is parked at the same place all the time while at work and home, no oil marks left where car is parked. 2 quarts of brand new oil put into car (car was not driven after this happened-brought oil to the low oil mark on the dip stick) the next day and car was towed to faulkner Hyundai (paxton st, harrisburg PA). Car was received at dealership by 9:30 am on 8/7/14 but was never looked at until the following day. Received call from dealership stating the noise was from coming from the bottom part of the motor and questioned when my last oil change was stating "there was very little oil in the car and it was very dirty. " first red flag considering that was brand new oil. Hyundai is now trying to not cover this under the warranty. This issue seems to be common on this vehicle from all the research I have done and should probably be recalled. Hyundai customer service is a joke as well as their vehicles. And their "America's best warranty" is a gimmick to get people to buy these polished pieces of crap and more than likely will not be honored. Still waiting to hear from Hyundai on a quote for the repairs and if the warranty will cover it.
I'm hearing crackling noises from the engine bay, I suspected it was the turbo. But after researching and checking forums many people are hearing the same noise.
I was driving my 2011 Sonata on I-95 north in MD near baltimore. I was in stop and go traffic at 8:20am, when with out any warning, my car shut off . I looked down and all the lights on my dash were on. I coasted to the left shoulder and I tried to restart it and it wouldn't. I waited for 30- 40 minutes in rush hour traffic on the left shoulder of 95 for someone to come and jump start my car. It started immediately when it was jumped, with no problems, with no lights on the dashboard indicating any problems. I was about 1/4 mile from work. Once back in traffic, my car turned off a second time. Again, I was able to get it started with a jump with no problem. When it started the second time we heard a clunking noise and drove it 3 blocks to my office. No dash warning lights came on. I contacted my dealer, annapolis Hyundai and they said I would have to have it towed in. I contacted Hyundai's road side service and they towed it at no cost to me. I was asked for receipts and service information immediately before my car was looked at. After 6 days and continual calls, they advised I would need a new engine. As my car is only 3 years old and the engine is under the 100,000 mile warranty( it has approx. 64,000 miles on it), they advised they would have to send documents in to Hyundai and they would have to approve. My car has been there for 16 days and I have been refused a loaner car until Hyundai honors the 100,000 mile warranty. My car had originally been scheduled for service on 1/27 as I was having problems with the car not starting on at least 3 occasions and it needed to be jumped started(with 2 times by geico). During this time, there was never any indication there was a problem as no warning lights came on my car. This car is unsafe and should have a recall on the engine. A car should never stop running while it is in drive especially in traffic.
