I was driving home from maryland and my car started making a knocking noise. We thought it was a stick underneath so we pulled over safely and tried to look under, but didn't see anything. As we continue to drive my car would only go 45 mph, and as we were on the interstate this was very scary. It's soon stopped accelerating, and we had to roll to the nearest exit. During this entire time, the car was still making the knocking noise. Once we got off the exit my car tires locked up and eventually stalled. It would no longer turn on. After this experience aaa towed it to the nearest Hyundai dealership where they told me my engine was shot.

Out of nowhere I started hearing a knocking noise from my engine. My car had oil so I didn't understand why it was knocking. Few days later I was leaving work heading home and my vehicle just stop on the highway. I was pressing on the gas and nothing didn't happened. So I had to pull over; as I was pulling over light smoke was coming from under my hood but my car wasn't running hot. I sit there 10 minutes before starting my car back up. That's when my car wouldn't start over. I tried again and it started but wouldn't move the light on my dashboard where blinking on and off for no reason. Previous before any of this started I also did not have the check engine light nor oil light was on. I had my car towed the next day to my home. That's when I had a mechanic to come and look at my car. The first thing he do is check the oil said my oil was good. He didn't understand why my car wouldn't move. Then the mechanic started my car up and it made and even louder noise went from light tapping knocking to something unexplainable like the engine just wanted to fall out the bottom. My mechanic had me to start my car up once more as he looked under the hood again to see what's wrong as he said stop the car. All the oil in my car has spilled into my driveway. That's when he told me my engine has blown a rod.

Engine failure/steering problems in July of 2015 I purchased the 2011 Hyundai Sonata from a drivetime dealership; starting mileage; 76,262. I only had the car about 2 months when the engine completely seized on the freeway in August of 2015. The recall 132 didnt come out until after I already had my car serviced by a 3rd party warranty and had to come out of pocket for 500 dollars. The cause was a complete engine failure at 77,498 miles. The engine was replaced in sept of 2015. Next issue I started to have was my steering wheel suddenly started to make a loud knocking noise on about 10/2018 while driving over any uneven road or even the slightest bump. The steering wheel completely trembles if I go over 60mph and feels as though the steering wheel may come unattached. My wheels feel as though they are ready to fly off. Present day-my engine is now starting to show signs of seizure again. It starts to jolt unexpectedly and the engine makes a loud knocking noise randomly upon acceleration. The car is very very slow to accelerate and is inconsistent with power despite constant and documented oil changes/checks. I have made an appointment with my local Hyundai deal for the recall 132 for this is the 2nd time I am now needing to have this engine repaired. I was told that I would have to pay for a rental of 35/dollars a day if my engine does need to be replaced.
My engine started making a knocking noise , when accelerating, going up hills, or speed limit going up. Makes knocking anytime foot is on the gas pedal. I see there is a recall on my car for this issue. But according to records the issue was only inspected. I have loss of power when going uphill. My car hesitates to start. I have complained numerous times of this knocking issue. But they said they couldnt find it. It started getting really bad 2 days ago, so I stopped at a mechanic who said its definitely the engine knocking. And if it was only inspected at the recall, it needs to be replaced by Hyundai. Because it may cause serious issues. And that Hyundai is responsible for replacing the engine. When it clearly should have been replaced. Even though it may have seemed ok when they " inspected " it. I have 2 children . And expect this to be rectified. As it should have been in the first place. Not just looked at and being lied to. I also see there is a lawsuit against Hyundai for not wanted to replace the engines, knowing they were bad. The noise happens on highways and streets. It doesnt stop. The original recall was #132.
Our car was in the number 2 lane of a 5 lane freeway when it all of a sudden lost power and the gas pedal didn't work and then a very sudden, hard jolt in the car. I wanted to downshift, but the shift lever went to park with no effect. I turned on my turn signal to get to the shoulder on the right. I let the wheels drag along the asphalt curb of the shoulder until I applied the emergency brake and turned off the ignition, by then, the smoke was filling the cabin coming through all of the air vents and my wife and I got out as quickly as we could. It wasn't until then that I found that we had been followed by a tow truck with its emergency lights on and blocked the slow lane of traffic for us and who had his dispatcher call the fire department. The engine in this car had been replaced in March, 2018 under a recall for engine knocking noise. The tow truck driver tried his fire extinguisher, but it had no effect and he stated it would not work because it was a gasoline fire. No injuries were sustained. In order to install the new engine they have to bend the fuel lines out of the way and a fuel line could have been kinked, or was never installed properly. No one had done any work on the engine since it was installed by the Hyundai dealer. I have a fire report, but it is 8 pages. Highway patrol was present, but they do not make a report when only 1 car is involved.
I was on the highway going 55 mph and my acceleration started to decrease and I could not pick up speed,as I exited off the highway I heard a knocking noise and my car died. I had to call my insurance company for a tow to the dealership napleton Hyundai, 649 dunn rd, hazelwood, mo 63042.

I took my car to the Hyundai dealership in turnersville NJ they claimed they but a "new" engine as a replacement of my recall because the engine was making a knocking sound so they kept my car for 3 months then they called me on memorial weekend to pick up my car two days after I picked up my car the engine light went back on so I took the car back then service department wanted to charge me to fix it which I refused too. Now last month I get another recall for my Hyundai 2011 Sonata what it's going on my engine light still goes on and to be honest I'm so disappointed with this car that I don't even drive even though I'm making payments on it still. I hate my car and Hyundai cars.
I was driving on the highway and as soon as I got off I heard a knocking noise coming from the engine so I looked it up on the internet and it said their is a recall on the engine for that very problem.
2011 Hyundai Sonata limited 2. 4l. Vehicle has been eating through 2 quarts of synthetic valvoline 5w20 oil every couple weeks. The dipstick always has black tar like oil on the tip. There's no leaks underneath as I keep a piece of card board under it while parked. I began noticing this at around 82,000 miles because when getting it changed around every 2500 miles, the mechanic always stating, "your really low on oil. " so, now I check my oil every other day. . The engine has been making a loud knocking sound for over a year now. And, the check engine light came on at around 112,000 miles. I just had the engine recall test done at the dealership in terre haute, in. They stated it passed the inspection test and still couldn't tell me why it goes through so much oil or why it's knocking so loud. Also, the check engine light is still on. . And, now I'm at 140,000 miles. Also, I've had to replace the starter selonoid lever 4 times now! it's a cheap 8 dollar plastic part that keeps breaking inside the starter. And, will pass the starter test if u take it in. Left me stranded each time. Dealer wanted $800 to fix plus tow fee. . I did the job myself instead.
A catastrophic engine failure occurred on the freeway while driving at 70-80 mph. The first warning was sudden engine noise, a loud ticking or knocking sound. This was shortly followed by the oil light illuminating, then the engine light, and then engine seizure (rpm dropped to 0). As I was pulling to the side, smoke began billowing through the vents. Upon exiting the vehicle I realized the engine was on fire. The vehicle was well maintained with no prior warning. The fire was put out with gatorade from an observer who pulled over.
I was driving about 55 mph on a highway and my car just shut down in the middle of traffic and wouldn't start, I was blessed not to get from behind. I had to have it towed home. Now I'm afraid to drive it. Also my steering wheel has been making this rattling/knocking sound anytime I try to steer it at all times. I have call in every recall notice I've gotten and I'm always told my car wasn't in the recall.
Takata recall. My Hyundai Sonata completely died on me without any warning. One day while I was driving my 2011 Hyundai Sonata on the highway all the dashboard lights came on. Next thinng I know the car cut off while I was doing 65 mph with my 2 year old daughter in the vehicle. Luckily I was able to get the car stopped. Luckily I was close to home and managed to make it safely. The next day when I cut the vehicle on I started hearing a knocking sound from the vehicle. On my way to work the car cut off two more times and when I tried to cut it on again it would not move. I had the car towed to Hyundai and I was given the complete run around about reparing my vehicle. I informed the manager j that I had a recall on the engine and he said no work is going to be done without Hyundais approval. So now im stuck here with no car trying to figure out ways to go to work everyday and school and transport my kid to and from school. Im awaiting to see whether Hyundai will honor its recall and fix my car. Im a very unhappy customer and lost all trust I had in my vehicle.
My 2011 Hyundai Sonata VIN# 5npeb4ac2bh018098 started having a terrible knocking noise while accellerating on June 3, 2017, and I had to have it towed to our local Hyundai dealership, bakersfield Hyundai, for my scheduled appointment yesterday. I believe that the issue is most likely related to recall 132/txx3. What has me frustrated is that I took my vehicle in for inspection when first notified of the engine issues. At that time, my car had about 90,000 miles and Hyundai claimed no issues were found. Based upon my car's current condition at 116,000 miles, I believe that the issue was always there, just not identified by Hyundai correctly. This placed all drivers and passengers in my household at considerable risk. In fact, the vehicle has been the primary vehicle of my teenage son! as a new driver, he would most likely not know what to do if the engine completely lost power and could have been seriously injured! I have also had to miss time from work and had to pay $54 for the vehicle to be towed. All of which could have been avoided if Hyundai had been more proactive about replacing the engines. Now the service technicians are telling me that there engines are on backorder for up to 9 weeks! the said that I may qualify for a rental, but I doubt that my teenage son, who drives the car to school, sport activities and work will be able to use a rental since he is under 18. Hyundai has known of the need to replace these engines and should have increased manufacturing replacements as soon as they became aware of the issues. I am also wondering what guarantees will be in place with the new engine block.

Purchased this car in September 2016,replaced rear drivers side tail light, two weeks later the same tail light blew out and I replaced it again. I have replaced this same tail light every month now since I purchased the car. I have also changed the oil faithfully since I purchased the car in September of 2016. The oil light started illuminating last month(March)then it would go out,I had the oil changed,3 weeks later the light illuminated and the check engine light illuminated again, again,I had the oil changed first week of April. I was driving home from running errands, car would not pick up speed on the interstate so I pulled off to the shoulder got out checked under the hood because the check engine light had illuminated again and the car had a knocking noise coming from the engine compartment,I check the oil dipstick,it was bone dry,I had just had the oil changed maybe two weeks prior. I had the car towed home, put a couple of quarts of oil in the car, started it up and it stalled out in the driveway. April 26,I had it towed to my mechanic shop to diagnose the issue. Today April 28,2017 he tells me that the oil bearing is losing oil pressure and now I need a new engine.
