I have noticed excess click in the steering column when turning or riding over bumps in the road. In addition, the steering wheel gives a slight resistance when the noise is present. This happens when the vehicle is in motion and when maneuvering the wheel when parking. The problem has been persistent since June of 2017.
Loose steering shaft. Steering wheel I s slightly loose and being refused warranty on this part in dealership. As I have exteded warranty.
While sitting still, when steering wheel is slightly turned to one side or the other, there is a loud clicking/popping noise. This also happens when turning while driving. When driving and hitting a slight bump, the clicking/popping is so bad that it sounds like the steering wheel is going to break into pieces. There is also some "play" in the steering wheel.

Car suddenly developed loud clicking noise when turning the steering wheel slightly or going over bumpy road. Steering also feels very loose; has a lot of play in it. I took the car to sterling mccall Hyundai dealership in houston, texas this morning. Service department says it's part number 56315-2k000-fff that needs to be replaced however Hyundai has a long back order for that part, and they're unsure when they will receive it. I asked the service department if the car was ok to drive because I felt it was a dangerous issue. The service advisor said he checked with his manager and the car was perfectly safe to drive until the part came. In. So I'm driving the car but the steering doesn't feel right.
The steering wheel has a slight catch when turning. I was told by the dealer that they could fix it but it was going to cost me. I do a lot of highway miles so there shouldn't be any reason to have steering problems after only 3 years. I had the front stabilizer arm fixed twice due to noise on the front end, was not covered because they said I ran over something, which I did not. They didn't fix right the first time so had to pay again to get the other side fixed.
Service campaign 927 confirmed left pull completed straight trak installed struts. Alignment. Update eps. Still pulls left on crowned roads. Steering light and wanders at highway speeds. Called dealer and was told "it is in spec and to contact Hyundai consumer affairs". They will not fix. It is now worse than before they tried to fix. I have contacted Hyundai consumer affairs two times with no response.
The car pulls to the left and the steering is slightly tilted left in normal driving position. Also have to apply a constant force to keep the car straight. At high speeds the steering feels free.
My 2011 Hyundai Sonata veers to the right. I have to keep mor pressue on the left side of the steering wheel inorder to keep the car straight. I have taken the car three times to the dealership but the problem has not be fixed. I have been told that the car steering goes slightly to the right but was not guarnateed that it could be fixed.
2011 Hyundai Sonata 2. 0t limited purchased 01/17/2011 drifts/pulls to the left. At times the driver is required to maintain constant pressure on the right side of the steering wheel to keep the the car straight. The behaviour is especially noticeable if you turn the steering wheel slight right. When the steering corrects itself it drifts to the left quickly. This problem occurs on both crowned and flat roads. The vehicle has been taken into the dealer twice, but the problem has not been corrected.
The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata limited. While driving approximately 45 mph he noticed that the vehicle pulled to the left. He stated that the steering feels light when turning to the left and heavy when turning to the right. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer for the failure. He stated the failure has been on going for three weeks. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was 100 and the current mileage was 1,200.
The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. While driving approximately 65 mph, the electronic power steering and esc service lights illuminated. Within seconds, the steering wheel became extremely stiff. The contact shut off the vehicle and when restarting, the vehicle resumed normal operation. The vehicle was neither diagnosed nor repaired. The failure and current mileage was 1,800.
2011 Hyundai Sonata se - constant steering problem I had my vehicle serviced for an identified continuous drift or pull of the steering system. The dealership had my vehicle in for service on two separate occasions for two weeks, and completely exhausted all their known and recommended service fixes per Hyundai technical support. Hyundai technical support recommend that the dealership to submit for a Hyundai engineer to look at the vehicle. The dealership submitted for a Hyundai engineer to service the vehicle. Upon receiving an approved service number for this to occur the Hyundai engineer confirmed and identified the drift/pull of the vehicle. The Hyundai engineer attempted several adjustments to the alignment, sub frame and computer system. Nothing fixed the identified drift/pull issue. The Hyundai engineer, dealership service manager and dealership technician all drove another vehicle off the lot from the unsold dealership inventory and identified the same drift/pull of the steering system in that vehicle too. They noted that my vehicle drifted/pulled less than the other vehicle they drove from dealership inventory. Unable to fix the constant drifting/pulling of the vehicle steering system the Hyundai engineer certified the constant drift/pull as a "natural" design effect of the vehicle. It should be noted that this problem isn't a slight drift/pull of the vehicle, but a constant drift/pull pitting the driver against the steering system. Take your hand off the steering wheel for a slight moment and the vehicle veers off center to the left. This in my opinion should not be a "natural" occurrence of any vehicle. Actually, edmunds. Com noted this exact occurrence in two separate inside lane reviews of the 2011 Hyundai Sonata. This is not a one vehicle incident, but a manufacturer design flaw of the new electronic powered steering system. The are no service bulletins at this time to address this constant drift/pull of the vehicle. Thus, leaving me no recourse.
