Automatic Stability Control (asc) Problems of Hyundai Sonata

The contact stated while driving at approximately 60 mph the vehicle unexpectedly swerved and the steering wheel had no resistance with the esc light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to (plaza Hyundai 2740 nostrand Ave #2, brooklyn, NY 11210) for a diagnostic exam. The diagnosis was that the steering angle sensor, abs wheel speed sensor front passenger, front passenger axle had failed. However the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximately 140,000. The contact mentioned that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 13v354000 (suspension) and 05v216000 (electronic stability control).

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that both rear suspension arm assemblies, alignment, and the lower arm plate failed and needed to be repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle rear end swerved while driving but the contact thought that the failure occurred due to low tire pressure until the electronic stability control light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where a diagnostic test was performed. The failure was located on the rear left and right wheel where the frame was corroded and cracked causing the rear tires to wear prematurely. The vehicle was repaired. The left and right frame, radius arm, lower control arm, and tires were replaced. The approximate failure and current mileage was 159,801.

At a low speed I lost control of my 2006 Sonata. The rear upper control arm broke free from the k frame and the drivers side wheel shifted out about 3 inches. The stability control activated and steering became very difficult. When inspected by the local garage they found the k frame had disintegrated from rust. For the past few years, my 2007 Sonata's esc (electronic stability control) system has turned off intermittently without my pressing the esc button located to the left side of the dash. When this happens. An esc off light is illuminated in the instrument panel.

At the time my husband asked if they had any knowledge of any problems occurring like this and the person in the service department did a quick search and stated the he found none. When we returned home on wenesday, July 27,2005 my husband did some research on the computer and found some problems already linked to this car and this problem. I phoned your organization this morning and talked with them. I was advised to let you know that there is a NHTSA campaign id number of 05v316000. I took it to the dealership along with my frustration and complaints of this car even making it off the lot. In a 10 - 15 minute conversation I had with the service manager the chip was replaced , supposedly fixing the problem.
