The engine loses power. I almost got hit merging onto the highway. The oil light keeps coming on right after I get an oil change. The sensor for lane departure does not work. This can cause deaths it needs to be fixed Hyundai of greer will not fix the issue. I almost died. I have stopped payments on the vehicle and I have purchased a new one. I refuse to drive this death trap.

Check engine light is on. Hecu internal failure. Active dtc present: c1237 primary pressure sensor signal. Sensor failure inside the abs control cycle. Values at pressure sensor changed from 0. 3 bar to 78. 0 bar; no change in supply voltage. Supply voltage constantly at 14v. Hyundai has mentioned that there are no active recalls and that this part is life threatening if it fails - but since the warranty has expired they are shying away. Online there are several known issues with hyndai and hecu. Specially for models before 2009. Its hard to believe that Hyundai is not aware of this problem and seems like they are avoiding their responsibility and playing with human life. Would appreciate if the government can do something.

Hybrid system warning. Check brakes. Do not drive. The car shuts down while you are driving and you get this warning with alarms dinging loudly. It renders the car unusable and is unsafe in traffic. If you turn the car off and wait you can restart it but it just happens again. It happens on the freeway at high speed and on slow side streets. Took it to the dealer and they said it was a sensor in the brake booster so we replaced it. A week later it happens again. About a year before we got a similar message: hybrid system warning. Do not drive. But it didn't say anything about the brakes. Happened multiple times at varying speeds in all weather. The dealer replaced the 12v battery and the message stopped. Now we get the brake problem instead. This is very unsafe as your car shuts down at high speeds! dealers appear to have no solutions that are correct. It is a common complaint on Hyundai owner forums. See the following: https://www. Hyundai-forums. Com/threads/2018-sonata-hybrid-hybrid-system-warning-safely-stop-and-do-not-drive-warning. . The car in question is the limited edition with hi tech package & accident avoidance pacakage ,has been acting up & requireing updates regarding safety, sensors codes errors & failure to read & correct conditions. One of one was the brakes & front end avoidance rader/sonar equipt . Going east bound less then the road designated speed post . All of the sudden a truck across the line no lights making it almost unnoticeable . I had been driving in the sonar ,rader mode it failed to work the brakes, lights where not working correctly confused and claimed error. ,turn signals impact crossing one more lane still the avodiance failed to notify those inside . How ever since the spreed was slow minor damage was recorded still waiting for adjustorto review damage. I have taken in care on many occasions complianing about this same goes with the rear end safety cameras not wooking as nenned. One partys where injured yet the Sonata did get damage the other truck was old a dark redish blk color the truck was about 20-25 years however there where few street lights to view the sensors malfuntion it was confused not noticing truck driver warning of this hazard no lights . . . To the car, damage front grill & bumper, trims the brake system seem to need to be check as the anti lock did not come on off popperly the braking system seems to be not funtionly needs to be address thus it might of been part of the issue also the intake maniflord was making a wheening noice and the cover of the air filter not secured making the car not ide correctly. . . The car was in motion traveling east bound in lane 2 . The car & truck hit & at that time everything came on warning errors failure stating fail engine ,brakes ,along with many error codes reading . Take to shop problems with safelty features lane changes & a wheening noice .
The sensors for braking did not work. I had an accident where I rear ended a truck. The brakes didn't work, only slid into the back of the truck. I was on a busy street when an emergency vehicle turned on sirens at the last second. The truck stopped as it should have. I braked as hard as possible but the car kept going until it collided into the truck. I have read reports on the 2017 Sonata which states the car will stop when it senses imminent danger. This one didn't. My concern is- is there more cars like this one out there that don't work as it should. I purchased this car 02/2017. Had only 23 miles. I took my car in for servicing the day before and was told there was a recall on the car. I never received a notice of recall and still haven't. Supossedly that was taken care of. The invoice shows the recall was for altn screw. It shows it was for santa fe spt/sonata.

The car either accelerating or braking jerks as if it starts and stops on it's own. I am afraid of driving it. I've had it to the dealer a couple of times and my first complaint was that it jerked into gear. It didn't matter if reverse or forward. The check engine light will come on. The dealer replaced a shift sensor but that didn't fix the check engine light nor the stop and start at random times. When this happens the car slows way down and I barely can get it to go forwards. The last time it happened was at night. I pulled onto a street from a stop sign into traffic. I barely went half a block and had to pull into a driveway to get out of the traffic behind me. The esc light came on briefly on the dash. I looked at the off switch and it was illuminated. I pushed it off I think. The road was dry and there was no reason that turning at 5 mph would create a reason for such a reaction from the car. I only have 30k miles on the vehicle. It should not be doing this.

As I was accelerating onto a highway the electronic emergency brake system ( attached to rear wheels of vehicle) without warning activated while vehicle was accelerating at speeds of over 55 mph. Brake system pulsed violently and then wheels completely locked up cause the car to rear wheels locked up causing damage to entire rear braking system. Hyundai failed to alert me to this danger and only disclosed it after the vehicle failed. After the vehicle was towed to the Hyundai dealership, Hyundai now claims to have this notice out- manufacturer campaign tff 2016 Sonata electric parking brake logic update. Luckily, we maintained control of the vehicle throughout the skid and system failures. We had to throw water on rear wheels/brakes to keep them from catching on fire. Entire rear brake system destroyed. . . Multiple sensor systems failed for this fault condition to occur. According to Hyundai manuals, this situation is impossible with their redundant sensors/check sensors, yet it did occur. Hyundai is investigating, however they did not seem too concerned that they put my family in danger with a product they knew was defective, yet they never alerted me to this issue. Vehicle has 5002 miles on it, and was purchased 3-5-2016, owned just over 3 months.
I have a push button ignition. Three times this past week, my car has failed to start. When I press the button, all of the lights come on, but the engine does not turn over and when trying to press the break in conjunction with pressing the push start engine button, the break pedal is stiff and does not press downward. The third time this occurred, I was stranded for 1. 5 hours. My brother came to give me a "jump" as he thought it was my battery only for sparks to come from my battery and for his cables to get so hot that they melted. I had my car owed to allen samuel's Hyundai in north richland hills, TX the next morning only to be told that because they are unable to "recreate" the issue, there is nothing they can do. I also reached out to Hyundai and was told that since there are no recalls, there is nothing they can do. This is a safety issue and because they are unable to recreate or do not have any recalls, then I am stuck with a lemon car. The second issue I have been facing (which has been ongoing) is the sensor in my gas tank recognizes my tank as "full" when I fill up with gas but this is not indicated on the gas hand readout. Again, this was brought to Hyundai's attention and because they can't "see it", "recreate it" and there are no "recalls", then there is nothing that they can do. Again, this is another safety hazard as I may think I have a certain amount of gas in my car when in reality I do not. The first issue occurs when the car is stationary. The first time I was at home, the second time I was at work and the last time (most recent) I was at a restaurant. I believe the cause of both issues are sensors with the break that connects it to the push button and a sensor in the tank that connects it to the gas hand. The gas hand issues occurs each time I put gas in my car.

As I applied the brakes I could feel the abs trying to kick in and then the car started excellerating. I was approaching a very busy street so I put the car into a snowbank. I had the car towed to dealership, in fear of driving it, to get ot inspected. Mind you, this make and model car has had several recalls. While in shop they fixed two recalls #'s 132 and 136 and then they diagnosed that the brake sensor malfunctioned and that they had to recode it. I was fortunate to have avoided what could have been a major accident. They, Hyundai, don't really want to stand behind their product once it's past warranty.
My car caught fire while being towed by my motorhome in south miami, FL on route to key west, FL. A south miami, FL Hyundai dealer repaired my car but did not replace all the parts paid for by my auto insurance company. The repair shop did not keep the burned parts as requested by me and my insurance company representative. Later, another Hyundai dealer completed the repairs as authorized by Hyundai USA after numerous communications with me, but the Hyundai dealer would not provide me with the burned parts as requested. Hyundai did not report that a fire had caused the damage. Not sure if Hyundai USA or its dealers have requirements to report fires in their vehicles. I have names of contacts with Hyundai USA in CA. I have the burned tpms sensor not replaced by Hyundai, but paid for at my expense to a tire store in my home town. I have pictures of my car on fire; pictures of the burned parts on car in possession of my insurance company representative; I have receipts from the south miami Hyundai repairs, and I have receipts from the other Hyundai dealer for parts needing replacement but not replaced by the south miami Hyundai dealer but paid for by my auto insurance company. I also have a receipt for replacement of the burned tpms sensor by a tire store in my home town. I filed a complaint against the south miami Hyundai dealer with the local government agency responsible for licensing auto repair shops in that county.

Brake pedal sensor failure resulted in a car that wouldn't start. The key-less entry depends on the brake pedal being depressed, otherwise the ignition will not turn over. Under normal operation when the driver is trying to start the car, the key must be inside the vehicle, the driver must depress the brake pedal and then press the ignition button. The car normally turns over. In this situation all systems function as if the car does not know the brake peddle is being depressed. The battery has full charge, all accessories function normally, but the ignition will not turn over. Because there is no way to manually start the car, the car is rendered completely useless.
Car lost anti-lock brakes and electronic stability control functions. This was caused by the drivers front wheel sensor wire rubbing against a sharp sheet metal edge. See photos.
The contact owns a 2009 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that after taking his vehicle to a certified dealer for regular service, they informed him that his rear brakes were worn due to the caliber sensor failing. When the caliber sensor failed, the wheels would lock up if not replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000. The VIN was unavailable.
