The parking and brake lights will not turn off when I turn off my car. This is resulting in the battery dying constantly and I am not able to lock or secure my car.

The vehicle slows down on its own and will not allow me to rev up even when pressing the gas pedal down. Also the light for traction control turns on and the brake lights stay on all day and all night whether the car is on or off.

Sometimes my brake lights are on when I am not pressing on the brakes. Why is this happening. It seems that something is malfunctioning because it does not happen all the time.

The emergency parking brake light does not come on when set, however parking brake does function.

Could not start car parked in the garage, and fault drained battery. Warning lights said do not operate car hybrid system not functioning. Have car towed. Also had brake waring light light up on dash. Had to have car towed. Good thing this did not happen when driving but when trying to start the car. Dealer reported that abs module failed. 57,200 miles on vehicle. Repair cost estimate is over $3,200.

When driving the car makes an awful beeping noise and says hybrid system malfunction safely stop and do not drive and the brake light is on in the dash. While all brake function is suddenly gone and I have to stop with the e-brake. This happened both on the city streets country highways and freeways at random times. I was told it was the hydrolic brake pump. This has been happening since November.

Loud beeping alarm goes off, the power behind the gas pedal starts to decrease and breaks start to make a terrible grinding sound. The screen says to stop so I have to pull off to the side of the road. Even after I turned the car back on the yellow �(!)� sign was still flashing and the beeping alarm started again. The screen says �hybrid system warning. . . � then changes to �check brakes�. The red emergency brake light is on constantly. It has done this 3 times in past 4 days.

Brake lights remain on, even after vehicle is parked and key is removed, draining the battery. Brake lights remain on throughout normal operation of vehicle and only extinguish when the negative battery terminal is removed from battery. When power is re-applied, the brake lights are lit- even with no key on the ignition. Hyundai believes the brake pedal stopper pad material can deteriorate, which allows the stop light switch plunger to remain extended when the brake pedal is released by the driver. They recalled model years 2011-2012, but the defect persists in model years far beyond this- past the 2014 model Sonata that I have discovered.

I noticed the brake lights were still on after the car was parked and turned off in the garage. On further inspection the brake pedal switch stopper had disintegrated and was no longer depressing the switch. The vehicle could shift out of gear without pressing the brake. I did not feel safe driving the vehicle until this was repaired. This was supposedly replaced in 2016 under a recall for a similar failure. I drove a separate vehicle to obtain a replacement part and the problem is now fixed. There was no warning before failure.

When I purchased the vehicle in September of 2020 I noticed every once in awhile when I push on the brake the brake light would come on and the panel felt very spongy. I took it to the dealership and they fix the light they told me the brake pedal feel was normal. But kia and Hyundai have a recall out right now it does not cover my car but from what I've read of the recall it sounds like that's what's happening to my car. The pedal feels very spongy it always feels like it's going down to the floorboard when you press the brake.

While driving the car, sometimes it does not respond to the pushing of the accelerator thereby either slowing down or hesitating creating scary and hazardous conditions on the road. This happens while driving on the interstate at high speeds or on the city roads in slow traffic. The behavior is unpredictable and uncontrollable. Also, the brake light stays on even when the brake pedal is not touched which is dangerous while driving. Upon research on line, this is not an isolated case but has happened to a number of Hyundai vehicles. It seems this has to do with either the rubber stopper of the brake switch or the failure of the brake switch or both. I called Hyundai and was informed that no recalls have been issued to fix this problem but the warranty on the stopper has been extended to 15 years and unlimited miles. They should extend this warranty not just to the stopper but to the whole switch assembly. It is obvious that Hyundai has acknowledged the problem with the brake switch assembly but is not informing the owners of the potential safety hazard caused by the failure of this assembly. In reality they should issue a recall to replace this assembly.

Tl-the contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The contact noticed the brake warning light failed to disengage as the traction control warning light illuminated. The vehicle would be turned off when the failure occurred. The contact stated that he would have to pump the brake pedal a couple of times in order for the brake light to function properly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer edwards Hyundai 1029 32nd Ave, council bluffs, IA 51501 where it was diagnosed that the brake pedal stopper failed and needed to be replaced. Th vehicle was repaired. The contact mentioned NHTSA campaign number: 15v759000 service brakes, hydraulic as a possible solution to the failure however the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 131,000. Ck.

The car while I'm driving sometimes the car is unstable also when I turn on the car and I prepare to put it on drive the car apply the emergency brakes by itself. The emergency brake light is on and there is no way to remove it, I have to turn the car on and off continually until finally the car removes the brakes. I was driving on the highway and on the street and while I was doing so the car put on the brakes by itself. One to two months ago I took the car to the dealer and I told them about it but they said that the care needs 2 updates, apparently the car has two recalls. 6 hours later after the update the care wasn't working properly and they kept the car for 3 to 4 days, I got a loner by then. Last week Wednesday 08/05/2020 I took the car again to report the problem and I was told the care would be ready in 5 hours but after 5 hours it wasn't. Since I didn't feel safe in the car I told them to keep the car and give me a loaner because the car is going to take one week to fix because they have to order parts, they want to keep the car but they didn't want to give me a loaner. I contact Hyundai corporate to report this incident because it is twice already, and I was told that someone would be in contact with me in the next 48 hours. I missed the call and I have been trying to call to get in contact with them again to fix the problem but every time I call they come with another excuse. While driving down the interstate at 70 mph in the fast lane I received loud alarm "hybrid system warning! safely stop and do not drive. Also on the dash board was a yellow triangle with an asterisk. In addition the red brake warning light was illuminated. The car accelerator no longer responded but lucky I was able to get the car to the side of the highway. If traffic were heavier (which it normally is in my area) I could have been involved in a high-speed collision. Once I got to the side of the road and pressed the brakes, there was a very loud noise and vibration felt in the seats and brake pedal. The vehicle finally stopped, I turned it off, checked the brakes for leaks. I also checked the brake fluid level. Everything looked normal when I restarted the car, not alarm. Everything cleared up. This is dangerous. I have searched the web and found that many others are having this same problem. For now the car is sitting in my drive-way. We don't feel safe driving it and from what I read the fix is expensive. I have a video of the dashboard during the malfunction if needed. Thank you.

The brake pedal dosnt retract and the brake lights don't work and this condition drains the battery at night while it's parked.

The abs light keeps coming on and off. The brake lights will stay on. Today my brakes just locked up as I was driving down the road.

This started may 1, 2020. . . Rear brake lights constantly stay on when car is turned off, seatbelts airbag light came on 2 days thereafter on dashboard, then esc indicator light came on 1 day thereafter on dashboard.

- engine had metal shavings in it which led to excessive amounts of oil consumption, it took the dealership almost a year to admit that the engine was going out -the brake light switch keeps going out, I have replaced my third switch in my 7 years of owning this car. -the taillight wiring harness warp the taillight housing for the brake lights due to excessive heat generated from the 2537 bulbs. In general, the wiring harness don't even last that long.

Brake lights will not turn off, causing other drivers to think I have my foot on the brakes. Also, they do not turn off after I park the car and remove the key from the ignition. I have looked this up and it is a major complaint, but no recall on my vehicle. There was a recall in Jan of 2016, but not on my car. It was for the brake light switch plunger.

The front driver side door handle has came off and so has the passenger side. The inside door handle on the driver side has came off and the driver side door is totally inoperable. This s a total safety hazard in the event of an emergency, a car crash god forbid or even the car catching fire. Getting to safety would be very difficult. I cant afford to continuing fixing an issue that is defected to begin with. The brake lights doesn't illuminate all time when engaged and my air bag lights are on and my car sways in the back due to the control arm being rusted.

The rear lights melt around the brake light bulbs and you can't change the bulb because the whole where it goes into melts both sides are currently melted.

The brake lights are remaining on even if brake pads are not being depressed. While driving or in park. The car also will stall while driving down the road.

The brake lights keep burning out every couple months. You can check from my VIN that I have only serviced from local Hyundai dealership since I bought it from them. I researched online and this problem is affecting many Hyundai models. Basically, the brake light socket is so hot that it burns and melts the light bulb. This is really a fire hazard. Why is there not a recall yet on this problem? over the past year, I have replaced my light bulbs like 4 or 5 times. Please take a look into this. It will save a lots of people.

When turning the steering wheel I hear a clicking noise like something is loose or broken. There regularly is a burning smell like hot plastic is melting and the brake light constantly burns out. When changing the bulb I noticed the casing appears burned and it is difficult to remove the bulb for replacement. I smell the burning scent when I stop and exit the vehicle. The clicking noice is whenever I turn the steering wheel.

Brake peddle sticking not releasing brake lights to turn of in rear. Which caused a shortage. . In electrical wiring that shorted out whole dash system and security including power windows glove department etc. Issues when brake light was not releasing transmission was jumping to gear of reverse and drive with out my control.

I was in a car accident in 2019 and my airbags never deployed. Since then, the airbag light has stayed on. I've gone to every mechanic around about my airbag light and they all say I have a recall on the car. I've also been pulled over multiple times over my brake light either not illuminating or staying illuminated while driving.

I seen my vehicle had a recall about the brake light. I seen it flashing so I thought something was wrong with my brakes I had them change my wheel barrels changed routers changed and it still make a scrubbing noise.

Cars brake lights are continuously lit even when engine and driver has turned off the vehicle and left. The dealership said that that is a big problem with the Sonatas. They called the problem TSB/stop lamp switch. This vehicle has the same problem either stationary, moving or engine & key turned off. It also shows signs of engine hesitation when first moving.
