37 Brake Light On problem of the 2013 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 07/12/2019

My sockets constantly melt , the connector for my starter melted and my car would not start Hyundai wanted me to pay thousands to replace my wire harness when they are aware 2011-2014 have electrical issues, also my lights do not turn off I have to unhook my battery every time I get out of my car. My brake lights do not turn off while driving so nobody knows if im stopping or notand every Hyundai I see seems to have the same problem. I know it is a defect that they do not want to claim. I have had my engine replaced, also my brakes go bad extremely fast due to an issue with my axles that were mysteriously replace a month before I bought the car but they wont cover me because im a second owner.

Failure Date: 07/10/2019

Recall code 136, brake lights stay on. This does not show up in my history of recalls for my Sonata. The vehicle rear brake lights will stay on after full release of the brake pedal. Brake lights may show off, car is then shut off. 2 minutes later, the car brake lights are on (not all the time, but frequent enough). This is a reoccurring event.

40 Brake Light On problem of the 2011 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 07/01/2019

This issue has been going on for months now. And I have driven around seeing many other Hyundai Sonatas with he same issue. When I hit my brake, the brake lights will not go out. I have finally figured out how to get them to go out (pulling my brake upwards with my foot). This has resulted in my lights staying on and my car dying a few times. It is a very dangerous problem as others are not able to tell when I am braking because my brake lights stay on wihtout putting my foot under the brake and pulling up on it.

44 Brake Light On problem of the 2014 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 04/25/2019

2014 Hyundai Sonata was dropped off to nearby Hyundai dealership for scheduled recall appointment campaigns 180, 953, 160, 162, and 946 on 04/24/2019. Dealership communicated to me all recall inspections were made, and no further repairs or replacements to the car was needed at approximately 11:30am on 04/24/2019. Car was then picked up through the sales department at my earliest convenience on 04/25/2019 at approximately 7:00pm. After driving 9 miles on a 55mph street, my car lost immediate acceleration/power causing the speed to reduce without warning, and without brake lights activated (witness to this is the individual who drove me to the dealership to pick up the car, and was currently driving behind me at the time of the incident). After immediate loss of acceleration/power (the car was moving at 55mph), the check engine light began blinking. The car was immediately moved off the road, and a burning smell was detected after removing myself from the vehicle. As the service department was unavailable, the sales department from who gave me my car we're unable to properly assist me with receiving a tow back to the dealership, and provide me with a loaner car for the cars inability to be driven. At approximately 8:50pm, a tow arrived to take the vehicle back to Hyundai's dealership in which the recall inspections and campaigns were performed. Dealership approved a rental for the following day, yet unavailable/unable to be approved until the service department re-opened. Currently, the dealership has me in a rental car through enterprise, covering the cost except for $1. 00 a day (which is to be paid by me). More so, as this is not my car, an additional coverage charge of $9. 00 per day was required to insure me coverage in the event the rental is involved in an unexpected accident. As of 04/28/2019, I am waiting to hear an update from the dealership about my car.

45 Brake Light On problem of the 2012 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 04/21/2019

I believe my car has been affected by the NHTSA campaign number: 15v759000 brake pedal stopper pad deterioration I have noticed that when the brake pedal is not being pressed, the brake lights do come on and stay illuminated preventing accurate communication to rearward following vehicles that the vehicle is slowing or stopping. Additionally, I have been able to shift the the transmission out of park without depressing the brake pedal. Lastly, when this all occurs while driving my vehicle loses power as off I am pressing the break. This has occurred while driving on the street, highway and while turning.

46 Brake Light On problem of the 2013 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 04/14/2019

Problem with my Hyundai Sonata 2013 GLS taillights/brake lights are not turning off. The car is off, key out of the ignition, lights switched off and foot not on the brake and lights are remaining on. They stay on throughout the night and day. The worst time is while driving , they remain on as if I'm driving with my foot on the brake. This is ridiculous. I am left to figure it out on my own as there is no recalls and I refuse to pay the dealership for something that should clearly be a recall. With hundreds if not thousands of people reporting this issue with Sonatas from modules dating back that I can tell from 2007 to current. I refuse to get this car agai and as soon as I can sale it consider it sold!.

59 Brake Light On problem of the 2012 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 10/21/2018

Takata recall I was driving in carrolton, GA one evening and was pulled over by an officer and was told both of my brake lights stopped working at or around the same time he gave me until Nov. 27th, 2018 to get them fixed. I was at first replacing the bulbs and they would burn out. I started calling around to different shops to get them fixed and they were all telling me the same thing. That is has become very common with my car( Hyundai Sonata) and that I had to replace the whole system. I found out that is what I have to do and a total of $500 to get both done. I missed my due date to get thwm fixed because it wasnt a simple replace the light bulb fixed and required more money. If this is true why haven't there been a recall on the brake lights? brake lights are very important and unsafe if that are not working hence why it is against the law. If most lr all your cars are having this problem you should be the ones to fix this problem.

65 Brake Light On problem of the 2013 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 09/03/2018

My brake lights constantly burn out and get hot. My harness even melts due to the heat and my bulbs. I have replaced my brake lights at least 6 times or more in less than 2 years. I have complained to Hyundaiusa and the dealership about the issue since 2016 for them to want to charge me over 500. 00 for the repair. I'm also having issues with my headlights blowing, my interior lights coming on when they want too(have to leave them on off all the time) and my lights flickering. I am terrified of my car catching fire due to the electrical issues it's having. There have been several issues with this car since I had it and it's ridiculous.

66 Brake Light On problem of the 2012 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 08/17/2018

While driving in motion or after driving briefly after a complete stop. The emergency brake light may come on, or the actual brake lights would start to flicker for no reason. The rpms on the car would drop very low and then rise over 3000. The vehicle would then decelerate and not allow to go higher than 25 mph. The engine also makes a knocking noise. This has caused two near accidents ,one being t-boned by another vehicle and another almost being hit in the rear of the vehicle by another vehicle. This has been stated to the local dealership at least twice and they state they cannot find anything wrong that would cause these issues. The vehicle has been taken to taylor Hyundai of augusta each time to be inspected.

67 Brake Light On problem of the 2013 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 08/12/2018

After hitting the brakes the brake lights stayed on, after a few minutes the car went to idle without warning, then back to cruise then back to idle and stayed about a minute, then back to cruise, then back to idle. Hyundai is aware of the problem, but not issuing a recall. The problem almost cause a crash with cars going around us. If it would have happen on the freeway it would have been worse.

68 Brake Light On problem of the 2013 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 08/01/2018

Both brake taillights bulbs keeps burning out this is an ongoing issue, it happened four times for me this year 8/1/2018, and three times last year 2017. Every time it happens I change the bulbs with the manufacture standard ones but fails again and again, I have done some google research and find forums of complaints regarding this brake light problem. Its becoming a safety issue because the tail lights sockets are overheating causing the buld to melt and stick into the tail lights socket, I notice the same problem when I change my bulb earlier this year. There's a lot of Hyundai owners complaining about this issue it needs to be fix before someone's car catch on fire.

69 Brake Light On problem of the 2011 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 07/27/2018

The brake lights stays on as if pressure is being apply to them. Car be at 60 plus miles per hours and the car comes to a slow stop while I'm applying pressure to the gas; having other drivers almost to hit me in the back.

70 Brake Light On problem of the 2011 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 07/02/2018

Takata recall - in 2016 there was a recall for the brake light switch to be fixed on my car. They said that they fixed it but now I am having the same issues as my brake light switch is still malfunctioning. My brake light stays on the whole time when I am driving which I have had to replace the bulbs as they were blown and one of them had melted. As far as I can see, if this was properly repaired then none of this would have been happening. I have to constantly lift my brake pedal to turn them off before I get out of the car so that they will not be on. This happens while in motion and stationary.
