I was at a complete stop and when I accelerated to approximately 15-20 mph, the rpms increased to over 5,000 and engine began to shake however when pressing on the gas pedal vehicle would no longer accelerate. My engine, eps, and oil lights all illuminated and vehicle stalled in the middle of the lane. Vehicle ignition would not engage after stalling. I had to have the vehicle towed. In sept of 2019 I had a similar issue with high rpms, vehicle not accelerating properly and safety light illuminating. I brought it in to the dealership where we purchased it used (June of 2019) and they claimed they could not find any problems. No recall was mentioned by them so I am assuming it was never looked into. Had it not of been for the tow truck driver I would have never been made aware of a possible recall issue.

Starting this past weekend, my son's car stalled while driving but was able to restart and get to his destination. Yesterday 6/2/2020 he received an oil change and headed to work. His engine started knocking loudly and started to stall again while he was on the hwy. He was able to pull over safely. We had the car towed to a garage. They said it was the engine specifically #3 rod. They told us it has been an issue with Hyundai for this engine.
After having to have my engine replaced due to my crank shaft getting clogged with metal pieces on the highway and destroying the engine. I've been having issues with the replacement engine feeling like it's stalling out or losing throttle either during a turn or shortly after. It's never popped and error code and only happens now and then.

My car stalled and stuttered between 1000 and 1500 miles in traffic and couldn't get it into gear once started. It was the fuel rail sensor. Now at 6000 miles did same thing. If sits for bit works again. It also reset itself and I lost all preprogrammed information. The gas door also opens at times when unlock driver door. The dealership had it the first time for over 30 days and had to contact engineers to fix it.

Vehicle stalls/dies while driving. It stalled 2 times but when I pulled over, it would start right away. While trying to make it home, it stalled for a third time and while pulling over it started smoking so bad I thought the vehicle was going to catch on fire. Vehicle had to be towed. There is an engine recall for this vehicle but dealer is giving me the runaround. Very disappointed with how Hyundai has handled the incident that almost caused an accident that could off been deadly.

Stalling, car stops running while the car is in motion or about to take off. This has happened more than once. The car was checked by the dealer, dealer said they found nothing wrong.
Takata recall on July 27, 28 2019 the esc light came on intermittently causing the car to stall driving south on I 75 and later on the streets. After turning the car off and restarting the car it drove along ok. During our return trip, the car stalled again driving north on I 75 , and we pulled to the side of the road only seconds before a 18 wheeler passed us within less than a foot between us. All five us could have been killed. We were lucky to find a national repair shop opened on a Sunday who diagnosed the problem as a faulty crankshaft position sensor( the car has 54,000 miles ) . The part was replaced and after 4 hours we were on our way, minus $400 plus dollars. Research indicates that this continues to be an unsafe and potentially deadly problem -that this sensor must be recalled- and the public made aware of the danger.

My 2012 hybrid Sonata, 104,000 miles, suddenly started jerking and nearly stalling one recent morning on a drive from home on a divided road. It barely moved forward, badly jerking, message on the screen was : hybrid battery low. Pull up safely an place the car in park". So after 1/2 mile, I returned home. Because of low speed on a divided road, there was a serious concern of being hit by another car. I had the car towed next morning to the Hyundai dealer. They reported 'nothing wrong found' and returned the car which is running fine, though jerking transmission at low speed. I am wondering if this happened away from home, what shall I do. I need assurance that that will not happen again. How do we get that assurance ?.
My brakes acting almost hit the curve when I was trying to stop, the transmission stalled almost causing another car to hit me from behind as I drove down the highway also the engine is using excessive oil afraid the engine will lock up causing an accident .
Vehicle stalled out / wouldn't restart / had to tow to dealer / has gas / was told motor locked up and not sure why?.
I own a 2012 hyundia Sonata se with 136,000 miles. This car has a long list of issues from purchase date of 2011 to right now. The engine/transmission has been jerking, stalling and not having full power intermittiently as of the three years but this surpasses it all. July 2, 2019. I was leaving from a parking lot in reverse and heard a loud boom noise, I thought a collision occured. I looked all around and nothing was there. So, I place the gear into drive. . . . . Boom again. My entire body shook and the car proceed to jerk and hesistate through the parking lot. Nervously, I had to get on to the dangerous interstate 35 south and the car struggled to get the optimal entrance speed onto the freeway. It jerked more and more while on there and immediately exited at the first exit. The rpm dial was extremely higher than normal. I had to take side roads to avoid being hit or hitting someone to my house. I have been slightly terrified driving this car before with the stop and go jerking combined with randomly not starting, but now I'm beyond that now. Driving the last couple days has me a nervous wreck with the reading of this issue happening nationwide with our kids in tow. Please NHTSA, make hyundia accountable with these documented unsafe cars on our roads all over the country. This is not right. Thank you.
