The car drives normally until you press on the brakes after going high speeds it jerks. At stops if the car isn't in neutral the engine stutters we've replaced the cam shaft sensor 3 times now and that's the code that comes up everytime the check engine light comes on after the jerking. We also replaced the spark plugs and coils hoping it would help the shaking at stops and it didnt.

While driving the car at highway speeds, the car and engine start to shake. The shaking impacts the steering wheel and drivability of the car. The car loses any acceleration power and the check engine light comes on. The issue usually lasts 1-2 minutes. Afterwards, the shaking slows down and stops, then the check engine light turns off. When I took the car back to the dealership, they said the engine needed to be replaced. 5 months later we are the same issue is happening.

Wastegate accuator defective multiple times since engine failure replacement. . But rick case Hyundai wont replace under warranty as it was giving issues when the warranty period was still valid. Possibly damaged at the time of block replacement as I had to return to the dealer 3 times to resolve check engine light and turbo failure.

Vehicle turned off a few months ago while driving on the highway. Waited a few minutes then turned it back on and nothing. A week ago I get a check engine light with code p0014. The dealer said it was a sensor problem and I bought the pieces and replaced but problem still occurred with the same codes. Now the dealer says it is an engine problem and it might be replaced. After doing some research I have seen that many people have got this code before when their engine on 2011-2012 Sonatas have seized or stopped working. The dealer isn't being compliant in changing or fixing engine. I I believe the engine recall has affected my vehicle and it passed initially but two years later once my car is over the 65k limit now it is becoming a problem.

Engine knocking, checked the oil and it was fine. Drove it straight home which was about three miles. The next day I was driving it to work and the knocking was getting louder and louder, pulled over, checked the oil and it was sludge. Took it to grease monkey, which was directly across the street from where I was. They changed the oil and put an engine cleaner through it. Still the same. They took a look at it and said that the engine is seizing. I always maintained the car and no warning lights ever came on until after the oil change, then the check engine light came on. Mileage around 113,000 when this happened.

I stopped for gas and when I attempted to start car an alert came across my screen saying car has a hev issue and check engine light. I would have to wait for 15 to 20 minutes for my car to start again. I was assuming it was bad gas but mechanic confirmed that it wasn't a bad gas issue. I went to the dealership and they said it's a potential electric issue that my warranty does not cover. I had yet even exceed mileage above 70000 miles. I believe this is an issue that is an inconvenience to me and other drivers because it is starting to happen more frequently. This could be a father for anyone in a urgent situation and need to be able to activate the car to leave immediately. Thank you for your consideration.
Yesterday evening 14oct2019 vehicle was unable to power up, hybrid system hev warning light went on as well as the check engine light. Tried several attempts to get the car going. Finally got it going. Brought it to the dealer for diagnosis 15oct2019.
I was driving down a city street when all of a sudden my 2013 Hyundai Sonata stopped on me. It was like the engine cut off, all the car lights came on--the check engine light, eps light, etc. All the lights came on at once and the driving wheel locked on me, it was extremely hard for me to turn the wheel at all. I was pressing on the acceleration pedal because the car was stopping in the middle of a city street where other cars were passing by me. However, I was unable to accelerate or press on the brakes on the car, I was able to coast the car to the side of the road. Once the car was on the side of the road, I tried to crank the car back up with no luck. I was able to get the car "on"--as in being able to listen to the radio but the car would never fully turn over. When trying to get the car to crank up I began to notice smoke coming from engine and a spark coming from the engine would light up a little every time I tried to get the car to turn over. I also noticed that the hood of the car also smelled like burnt metal when I was able to get the car on the side of the road even before I tried to restart my car after it cut off on me. The engine completely stopped on me in the middle of the road. All my maintenance and services with my 2013 Hyundai Sonata were up to date. I had got my car serviced less than a month ago before this happened to me, the engine seized. After repeatedly trying to start the car with no luck. I had to call aaa to come and tow my car.

On August 20, 2019, my car's engine failed without warning while driving across a bridge during rush hour traffic. I had to rush to the shoulder closest to the lane I was driving, placing me at the left side or the median of the bridge. My car's check engine light did not show up, so when my car was towed to obrien Hyundai they were unable to identify or duplicate the issue. I refused to pick up the car after they had it for several days and after refusing to pick it up, they finally were able to duplicate the engine failure. They then shared there was a recall on the engine and that Hyundai would replace it for free. I drove the vehicle without issue, until June 3, 2020. My engine failed while in motion on a residential street. I was able to safely turn around and park my vehicle back in my complex parking. June 10, 2020 I got the vehicle towed back to the Hyundai dealership. They told me the engine failed again and I will need another replacement and Hyundai would cover it. I have no trust in Hyundai's replacement engines if the new one from August 2019 failed in under a year. I never received a recall notice before that point in August 2019 pertaining to an engine replacement. This vehicle model is a death trap and accident waiting to happen that I refuse to jeopardize my life and safety over.

While driving along a major roadway at 60 mph, the vehicle simply shut off and much of the lights such as check engine, etc lit up. I lost all power and brakes and coasted to a side street. The car would not start again and began heavy smoking. I had it towed to my mechanic who stated the engine had locked up. There were no warning signs, check engine light, or any other indication there was a problem.
About 3 weeks ago around 6am I was driving to work while on the highway when suddenly the check engine light pop up and the throttle pedal went down and it won't pedal or move no more. Didn't know what was going on until my car was towed the dealership place where I was told is a recall. Two weeks after I was called that my car is ready and good to go but unfortunately before the car got to my place the check engine light is back on and the accelerator pedal don't move normally again, when you are on motion and you try to change lane or overtaking the pedal won't move until you force it with pressure and if you happen to be at traffic lights the same thing will happen, the car don't move normal again. I took it back to the dealership and explain what happened to them again and they took the check engine light off that it should be fine after but alas the problem is worsening day in day out and my safety is on the line now. Initially I was told they are going to replace the engine but I realized they didn't replace the engine instead some parts were replaced and that makes it worse than before. Driving the car now is at the high risk for me or other road users because I don't know what could happen next. The check engine light is still on and the pedal still not moving well and especially when you are moving uphill. Please I will like this to be investigated because I don't if other people have experience similar problem.

I was on the interstate during torrential downpour, my car's check engine light started flashing and I couldn't accelerate above 2,000 rpm or go over 60 mph. It was very dangerous. I took the car to the dealership to be repaired. After 3 days I picked the car up, and they said they replaced the knock sensor and the car was fixed. Since then this has happened 3 more times. Car is currently in the shop. I started researching on my own, and I read that the knock sensor was an update Hyundai added after the recall of the engines in these cars. This knock sensor is actually protecting my car (and me) by putting it in 'limp mode' because it senses something dangerous in the engine. I have contacted Hyundai consumer affairs to inform them I am afraid to drive the car because this has happened so many times and clearly is't fixed, and I'm sure it has to do with the recalls they have and engine fires. They've done nothing. Last time I went to get the car the manager at the dealership said that many people were having issues, but Hyundai doesn't allow them to actually fix the problem. They have to do work-around fixes instead of the actual repairs needed. The manger said he predicts that "there will be a class action lawsuit because of Hyundai not doing anything to actually fix this engine issue". I don't know who to turn to, but I' am afraid to drive the car. I don't want to be driving down the road and the engine catch fire. I'm currently pregnant and it has been very stressful dealing with this issue. I fear the dealership will disable the knock sensor so that it stops putting the engine on limp mode and then I will have a fire. I also fear that the knock sensor may not work correctly next time and the engine may catch fire. I need the engine fixed. I hope by submitting this complaint it will help get this engine problem solved for me and consumers.
My car's check engine light came on and I took it to the shop for diagnosing. The code p1326 came up and nobody can figure out the problem. My car doesn't accelerate properly and take a minute to shift gears and drive properly. There has been open communication on the issue by other people.
While attempting to merge onto interstate 85 in atlanta, the car hesitated and would not accelerate. At the same time, an alarm began to chime and once I avoided a collision, I noticed a flashing engine symbol on the dash. At this critical time I was "lucky" to have not been involved in a fatal car accident. The car limped to the autozone and p01326 was discovered. The az employee and the longtime manager said they were surprised when the code did not pull up any info in the database. I researched the internet and found some information and the 2 minute Hyundai video on the bearings, catastrophic engine failure, potential fire and the knock sensor. Southtowne Hyundai said it was a wiring problem and reset the code. I asked if the vehicle was safe to drive and the representative said yes but within 5 miles of leaving the dealership, the check engine light came back on. I have sent several emails to the se regional manager, steve flood, and southtowne's gm, charlie simmons, but they have not replied. Their underlings have. I have lost faith in the vehicle and believe it (and other Hyundai cars) is unsafe.
On a 2-way city street, vehicle in straight forward motion when it abruptly stopped working. Check engine light came on. Car was towed. Result was service campaign #18-01-032, t3g, engine dtc - p1326. Car has been at the dealership since 5/7/19, for over 3 weeks with no repairs made.
On 4/24/19 at approximately 5:00pm, I was driving down a busy city driving when my check engine light came on followed by all of the lights on the dashboard blinking. I drove into a parking lot and my car completely shut down on me. It would not turn on or start at all. I had to use my car insurance to have my car towed to my friends house because the Hyundai dealership was not within the towing range to be covered by my insurance. I called the Hyundai dealership service department at the very beginning of the next day, 4/25/19. The dealership came and towed my car to the dealership. After the inspection, I was notified that I suffered an engine failure and the engine had to be replaced. I was provided with a rental car, which I can use until my car is fixed, but Hyundai will need to send them a new engine so they dont know yet when the car will be fixed. I was also told that I would have to pay for the hoses, gaskets; anything that wasn't either a black surface or metal because the warranty does not cover those. The estimate for me to pay would be around $300. Also, during the inspection for the engine, I was told the axels were leaking and those needed to be replaced including all of the components of the brake system. I would have to pay the $50 deductible and the warranty would cover the rest. When the car completely shut down while it was still moving was very unsafe, especially during rush hour traffic.
Tl- the contact owns a 2009 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving the check engine warning light illuminated, the vehicle stalled. The contact coasted to the side of the road and powered off the engine. The vehicle was restarted and was able to drive. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the p0014 code came up and the contact was informed the cam sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic where the cam sensor was replaced. However, the check engine warning light illuminated once again and was taken to another independent mechanic and was diagnosed that the vvt and rr vvt solenoid needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure recurred and was taken back to the independent mechanic a full service was completed, the technician flush the engine with cleanser and change the oil. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and schedule an appointment at jim burke Hyundai dealer, (1424 5th Ave n, birmingham, al 35203, (205) 386-959. The vehicle was taken to jim Hyundai dealer and was informed that the vehicle was not under warranty and a diagnostic testing was completed that the dtc p0013 and p0011 check and found cvvt and assy not holding the camshaft timing and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 79,930. Aw.
My daughter was driving on the highway when the car started to buck and wouldn't accelerate. The check engine light came on and she pulled off the highway. She called Hyundai and they told her not to drive the car and to have it towed to a dealership. We were then told by Hyundai that this is a known problem. They installed a knock sensor wiring harness and said they hope that does the trick but it could need a whole new engine. Expected repair time is 6 weeks since parts are on backorder. We have since spoken to several dealerships as well as consumers and there are so many complaints that some people have been without their cars for months.

I was driving the call at about 50 mph and suddenly check engine light (malfunction indicator lamp) started blinking and car went into the reduced power and acceleration. I had to tow my car to Hyundai dealership and its being repaired under Hyundai recall campaign 953.
Tl the contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to Hyundai of kirkland dealer (11706 124th Ave ne, kirkland, wa 98034, (425) 821-6611) where a software update was completed. The contact stated that when leaving the dealer while driving at 40 mph, the vehicle stalled as the check engine warning light and engine control system failure detected illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle speed automatically decreased to 10 mph. The contact stated they slowly drove back to the dealer, where it was determined that a new engine was needed. However, a week later he was informed by the dealer that the wire harness had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated spoken to the manufacturer via email and was provided a case number: 15658545. The approximate failure mileage was 3,713.
While driving my vehicle at nearly 70 mph on the freeway, my car suddenly felt like I hit a brick wall and my check engine light came on and began flashing. I was then unable to accelarate past 55 and felt my car had a very sluggish response when stepping on the gas pedal. I was nearly hit by another car because there was no warning (break lights) when my car immediately slowed down. I then had to have my car towed 50 miles from where I was to the dealership near my home. When I brought in my car they said they had another car with the same exact issue. I called after my car had been there for approximately three days to get a status update and they said they still didn't know what was causing the issue, but that a third vehicle had now been brought in for the same issue. Today a week later, I called to get an update and the other two vehicles they are fixing with a new wiring harness; however mine they stilll are unsure what the issue is. This is now the third issue I've had with my car in less than 13,000 miles. Previously my car was having trouble starting the dealer said everything was fine. Also my front running light burned out at nearly 7k miles.
Check engine light illuminated, code reading of p2565. Wastegate actuator. This is an extremely common problem on 2011-2014 Hyundais with the 2. 0l turbo that dealerships exclude from any extended warranties. The wastegate actuators are only available through Hyundai.
Had oil changed on 1/24/2019, they did the ecm update for the knocks senser and afterwards on the way home the car went into limp mode and check engine light came on. I also received an email from Hyundai blue link saying that an engine component had failed. Took back to dealership and they gave me a loaner. They said they would have to hear back from Hyundai in CA?? sounds like nobody knows what is going on??.
I had an oil change on Friday 1/18/2019 the next day I'm driving on the interstate using cruise control and my car cut my cruise control off and the check engine light started flashing and my car would not go over 20mph even with the pedal all the way down to the floor. The screen in my car popped up a message that said the engine control system had some type of failure. 2 days in at the dealership and no one knows what the problem is. It's not even a year old, idles fairly hard, and now won't accelerate.
I have a 2015 Hyundai Sonata with 24k miles. The check engine light came on and was flashing as I pulled into a parking lot for my daughter to pickup her car. The garage owner said to pull in my car. The diagnostic read out was p2600 obs-ll. Upon researching it the code said, coolant pump "a" control circuit?open. They provided me with the print out. They said try to drive it. I did & drove maybe 300 feet & it would not accelralte above 15 mph. I turned around took it back to the garage's lot. The next day I called Hyundai roadside assist to have it towed to superior Hyundai south, where I purchased the car. This occurred Thursday January 17th. The car is still at superior Hyundai waiting word from Hyundai motors. Dave the service manager said it either needs a wire harness or an engine. Not sure the relationship. Seems to me they should put on the wire harness, if that doesn't fix it replace the engine.
I was recently driving down a busy road and my car just stopped out of nowhere no warning signs no check engine lights nothing Hyundai is stating they have never heard of this issue which after doing research is an extreme lie and is refusing any help since I am not the original owner I'm also being blamed for poor maintenance since I don't get my maintenance done at a dealership but my maintenance is done on a regular basis I've had electrical issues that were swept under the rug having my brake lights melt constantly after having the harness changed multiple times the only way they don't is by using electrical tape and taping them so that they aren't safely turned in like they should be.
Tl the contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving at high speeds, the vehicle loss motive power and stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was pushed off the roadway with assistance from a bystander. The vehicle was towed to tustin Hyundai (16 auto center drive, tustin, CA 92782, (714) 647-2000) to be diagnosed. The technician determined that the communication wire between the battery and computer failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred 2 years later. The contact was informed that the computer to the engine needed to be rebooted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided the contact with a case number. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000.
After I had my engine replaced pursuant to the recall in 2017. Prior to 2017 I never had a problem with my car. Once they put the new engine in my check engine light came on, they replaced 4 different parts at different times and still my check engine light came on. They found that there was a small area in my harness wire that a mouse had damaged. I dropped my car off in October 2018 to have the front and back wire harnesses replaced. Since that time Hyundai cannot get the wire harnesses delivered to fix my car. I have been without my car for five months now and had no idea when they will receive the wire harnesses. I have to drive an elantra without lumbar support for the last five months, which has caused me back pain since I have had 6 back surgeries. Additionally my car has not been able to be registered since 2017 since it will not pass smog with the check engine light on.
Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving at 55 miles per hour there was a flash and the vehicle spontaneously caught fire in the engine compartment. The brake pedal was applied but failed to respond and went to the floor. The emergency brake was applied to stop the vehicle. The check engine light was illuminated. The air bags did not deploy. There were no reported injuries or crash due to the fire. The fire department extinguished the fire. A police report was filed by the ohio county sheriff department under case number 1810104. The vehicle was towed to an unknown tow lot. The vehicle was towed by the insurance company to an inspection location and deemed a total loss. The contact called the local dealer dealer bakersfield Hyundai 5300 wible rd, bakersfield, CA 93313 (661) 834-5300 where informed that there were no known fire recalls associated with the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 140,000. Ap.
I noticed as I was using my turn signal as I was getting on the highway at 5:00 in the morning that my headlights had appeared to go out. A few seconds later they came back on. I thought maybe I was seeing things but then it happened again as I was signaling to change lanes. For the rest of the 25 miles to get to work on a busy highway I stopped using my turn signal for fear that my headlights would not come back on. I took by car to the dealer to have the headlight issue and check engine light issue fixed. I was called while my car was still at the dealer that they could not replicate the headlight issue and that they replaced some part that had to do with the oil. Of course with the engine only being 2 years old I had to pay. I paid $458 and when I left the dealer the check engine light was off. I let my nephew borrow my car for a week and when I picked it up the check engine light was back on and was still having the headlight issue when signaling. I took it back to the dealer to have the same issues looked at again. A week goes by and I hear nothing but I do get an automated voicemail from the dealer regarding a great incentive to trade in my car for a newer model. No thanks!! I'm done with Hyundai. I call the dealer to check on the status of my car twice and get no answer. I drive to the dealer to speak to someone. Once again I am told they cannot replicate the headlight issue and diagnostic shows no issues but it could be the turn signal switch. Then the check engine light was on because the cam shift sensor went bad. Now I'm trying to figure out why this was not found the first time I brought the car in. So now I'm told the shop foreman was out all week and they are waiting for him to look at my car to see if he can figure out the headlight issue. I'm really irritated at this point and will be trading this car in and it won't be with Hyundai.
Tl-the contact owns a 2009 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving the check engine light would come on and off. The vehicle did not pass inspection because of the emissions and was taken to a dealer northtown Hyundai 3675 sheridan dr, amherst, NY 14226 (716) 992-6536 . The engine light was not on at the time but the dealer was informed of the issue. The dealer performed numerous electrical repairs to the dashboard but the check engine came on again and vehicle is currently back at the dealer. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 87,633. Tf.
Purchased car and have had 3 recalls already. Car has need at dealership for a month now and they are unable to update when it will be available and what will be done to it. Also I checked the VIN number on VIN check pro and it show the car as branded on 1/30/2017 in texas as salvage. It also shows branded on 04/25/2017 in texas as junk. They Hyundai corporate office says they do show this on thier records. Could you please help because at this point I do not feel the car is safe for my daughter to drive. After the last recall was complete , the first time the car was driven the check engine light started flashing and the car had little power. It has been a t the dealership since then.
