The contact stated that the accelerator pedal was then applied but the vehicle would not accelerate. The contact stated that the check engine and the hybrid engine warning messages illuminated on the instrument panel and advised to safely stop and do not drive. The contact was able to pull over and turned off the vehicle. The vehicle was able to restart and the contact parked the vehicle in a parking lot to let it sit. The contact then stated that when she started the vehicle, the check engine light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine control module(ecm) needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer awaiting parts for the repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.
