My vehicle struck another vehicle straight-on, broadside in a "t-bone" accident at approximately 40 mph on a two-lane, 45 mph roadway on a clear, dry, sunny day with no time to apply my brakes and neither the steering wheel airbag nor the driver's side side air bags deployed. The speed of the other vehicle then caused my vehicle to be dragged across the oncoming lane and up a five foot embankment. Only the passenger's side side air bags deployed on impact. The steering wheel air bag later deployed when my vehicle was being towed. My vehicle is a total loss. The other vehicle's two driver's side doors were pushed in past the frame of the car. The air bag recall for my year allegedly doesn't apply to my VIN.

In motion going 20 mph passenger side air bag deployed without accident. Air bag busted on my head, back, and right side of my face. With a powdery sharp film on me. Air bag recall was not fixed by the dealership. I reported it to Hyundai which lead to countless email with no repairs made. Seat and door panel is ruined with a crack in the windshield that has spread. Engine had been stalling and producing white smoke from the tailpipes. While in motion car completely shuts off and will not come back on. Dash board lights up goes off comes on displays key not in vehicle when the key is in the armrest plugged in. Brake pedal freezes up preventing the car to start. Radio does not work check engine light blinks on and off when car is in motion. Reach out to Hyundai webb on route 30 in merrillville, in. They had the vehicle for a month due to the engine recall and turbo recall. They forced me to pick the vehicle up after having it for a month. In motion from the dealership the car cuts off. I get it back on a big cloud of white smoke produces and cuts off again while in traffic. Prior to picking the car up the manager of the shop called informed me to come pick it up and bring a battery due to the battery in the car is dead. The car is at the dealership. . . They did not have the courtesy to charge to battery to test the work that was done. I take a battery up there they keep the car for another week or 2. When I pick it up the armrest is broken they put a screw in the positive cable post to hold the post in place; I guess. There are ashes on the floor as if someone was smoking in the car, put different color antifreeze in the antifreeze reservoir; meaning they mixed the fluids that would cause more problems. I called the manager again immediately and told him the car is doing the same things. Told me to drive the white smoke out, car is not safe to drive don't stay running.
Two vertical cracks on either side of the passenger side airbags showed up this morning. The car has not been in any accidents. Due these cracks I am afraid the airbag will deploy without cause when my grandchildren are in the passenger seat, or deploy while I am driving. Please advise on this as soon as possible. Thank you. Cindy l.

Hyundai motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2011 Sonata vehicles. In the event of a crash, the air bag control unit (acu) may short circuit, preventing the frontal air bags, seat belt pretensioners, and side air bags from deploying. If the seat belt linkage detaches from the seat belt anchorage, it can not properly restrain the occupant in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury. There is no fix, but they would like to put a sticker on my seatbelt. . . . .
The steering wheel makes clicking noises. When ever I'm driving, going over bumps and turning. The driver side airbag stays on.

Recall for the air bag control unit still has not be completed. The recall was issued in February of 2018 and still no remedy available. In the event of a crash, the air bag control unit (acu) may short circuit, preventing the frontal air bags, seat belt pretensioners, and side air bags from deploying. It is unacceptable that a solution has not be found at this time. Hyundai should have to buy back all 2011-2014 Sonata's as they are a danger to the owners.
Months ago, I received notice from manufacturer of side air bag defect with statement that "no remedy"yet available. I've waited patiently, driving car as seldom as possible. I am increasingly frustrated and get no assurance from dealer. What is the manufacturer's responsibility here?.
The srs light on the dash turned 'on' and disabled the driver's side airbag. Most likely caused by a defective clock spring in the steering column.
Airbag b1382 side airbag front passenger resistance too high.

My son was in an accident in which someone pulled out of a side road into his path of travel. The front of the Hyundai from just past the grill on driver's side to entire passenger side hit the front driver wheel forward on the other car. Neither the steering wheel nor the passenger side airbag deployed in my Hyundai. He hit with such force the steering wheel was bowed and steering column was broken along with the bottom of the dash where his knees hit.

The dash board cracked around the airbag. Dealer stated it happens sometimes if the dashboard becomes too hot from the sun and no correction is needed as the airbag will still function. There is a light 'film' on the windshield and front, side windows. When I explored further I was informed by 2 separate mechanics when the airbag gas to push the bag to open (when needed by impact) enough to crack the dashboard, the airbag is no longer functioning. The film on my window (windshield, front sides) is from the expansion of the gases sticking to them. I have reviewed several forums, my problem is shared by many owners. It is over 1000$ to fix- which few people have, and should be 100% covered in full by the manufacturer. Second issue, my passenger side airbag monitor only works intermittently. My granddaughter is 75lbs the airbag 'on' light may or may not turn on. I have read this is may have been addressed in a recall which only ended with the 2008 Sonata. Mine is a 2010. Obviously, both are huge safety issues and need to be repaired ASAP. I cannot afford to do so. Currently my front passenger seat is not safe to use. Hyundai should be held accountable for both issues before someone else is misinformed and counts on their passenger airbag not to be injured, maimed or killed. These issues are not dependant on the movement of the car. Thank you, joanne wright 3223 mill creek dr. #5 kalamazoo, mi 49009 269. 806. 7580 I did not purchase this vehicle until January 2016. It cracked during the summer of 2015. Picture are dashboard inside and 2 outside.

Eventually, the front passenger side air bag sensor light would also flash off and on when a passenger was not present. The check engine light also illuminated. After shutting the vehicle off and restarting the engine, the vehicle operated as normal. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. No additional information was available. I was traveling down the road and a 1999 chevy silverado pick up truck ran a stop sign coming from my left and struck the left side front door and fender of my car. The left curtain side airbag did not deply. My shoulder hit the door.
The passenger side airbag deployed without reason. The tremendous force and flying debris caused the driver to react and brush the front passenger side wheel against the curb. Plastic pieces were thrown throughout the front of the car. Luckily, there were no injuries. Earlier that same day the car had been serviced by the Hyundai dealer for a radio issue.
My car (Hyundai Sonata 2006) was traveling the intersection with a green light. The other car was traveling the intersection with a red light, and did strike the driver side of my car. The other car caused the severe damage to my car and I got injured. My car's side air bag was inflated, but my driver front air bag was not inflated so that I got permanently injured in my eyebrow and chronic back-pain. I strongly believe that if my driver front air bag was inflated, I do not suffer from chronic back-pain and do not have a permanent scar in my eyebrow.
