Unfortunately, at 50,000 miles my car began having major issues. It has been less than a year, since I bought my used car, and it is having major mechanical issues. Every time I go from parking to drive, or drive to reverse, my car jumps. While on the highway it jumped in motion. After that incident I was afraid to drive my car again. My mechanic told me it was the transmission. A new transmission costs over $3,000 dollars! I am a student and do not have that money, nor will I have it anytime soon. The dealership that sold me the car, gettel Hyundai of charlotte county florida, never advised me that Hyundai's have been know to have transmission failures. I invested money into a car that I cannot drive because it was faulty when sold to me.

While driving in traffic car began to jerk and lose speed though the engine was running. The car stopped in the middle of moving traffic. Transmission fluid spilled out profusely. Transmission was replaced but started to slip again the same day I picked it up after new (remanufactured) transmission was installed by the Hyundai dealer. Prior to this transmission issue, the alternator in my car failed while driving in the middle of moving traffic. This complete transmission failure occurred shortly after a new engine was installed because the original engine seized and failed prior. Alternator was replaced. The newly installed alternator failed again. A new alternator was once again installed. I am now having similar electrical problems yet again and there is a current concern that the vehicle may possibly stop suddenly and hazardously again while in motion.
While driving my new 2011 Hyundai Sonata GLS sedan with 200 miles on the odometer, the transmission failed completely when a transmission hose blew off releasing all the oil out of the transmission. Once at the dealership they showed me that hose clamp for the hose had never been attached correctly at the factory! the car is at the dealership for repairs. It is not know at this time if the transmission has been damaged due to the loss of oil. We were not hurt and didn't lose control of the car. This incident occurred on a flat piece of highway, should it occurred in hilly terrain or passing another vehicle the results could have been much different since the car became inoperable. Very disappointing since the car had only 200 miles on it!.
The contact owns a 2006 Hyundai Sonata. While driving 60-70 mph, the speed would decrease to 20-30 mph without warning. The vehicle would not shut off, but it would jerk repeatedly while it decelerated. The failure occurred without the brake pedal being depressed and has taken place numerous times. The vehicle was taken to three different dealers. Initially, the transmission was replaced, but the failure recurred 1,400 miles later. Secondly, the dealer stated that the cylinoid needed to be replaced. The repairs were completed, but the failure recurred 1,600 miles later. The third dealer stated that there was another cylinoid that needed to be replaced and the repair was made. Two weeks later, the vehicle continued to jerk at speeds no greater than 70 mph. The vehicle jerked back to 20 mph automatically. The dealer test drove the vehicle and the supervisor stated that he had never before experienced this type of transmission failure. The dealer stated that the electrical harness needed to be replaced. The repairs were completed; however, the dealer stated that they could not guarantee the failure would not occur again. After the repairs were performed, the instrument panel failed. A police report was filed. The failure mileage was 38,000 and current mileage was 188,000.

Transmission failed causing semi to almost rear end my vehicle due to a faulty sensor. Manufacturer refuses to fix problem although it is warranted. Similar failures will cause deaths. I have notified and requested assistance through hyundia's consumer complaint department to no avail. There will no doubt be a death caused by this malfunction in the powertrain.
