Vehicle Shudder Problems of Hyundai Sonata

At great risk because the car would lose all forward power and reduce speed from60 mile per hour on a beltway where the traffic moves very fast and I would quickly go down to 20 miles per hour. The problem was diagnosed by 2 certified mechanics before taken to antwerpen where the 3rd diagnosis was proven a need to replace the engine. I am not sure if it was inspected by the manufacturer but the service dept. At antwerpen were in touch with the manufacturer because they approved replacing the engine. There were no-(none) check engine lights but it did say change the oil. I did change the oil even though it was only 1200 miles since the oil had been changed. The power failure occured two times prior to the final time and I took it to jenkins Hyundai in leesburg florida (where I bought the car) and they continued to report no problems. The problem 1st appeared within the first 30 days of the purchase on may 22, 2021. Upon receiving the car back after engine replacement the car was blowing black smoke (lots of it) I took it back to antwerpen and they found the turbo was completely destroyed (because the manufacturer had them -power clean?-the turbo. The manufacturer agreed to pay to repace the turbo. However upon closer inspection the cateletic convertor was ruined because of all the oil thrown . They agreed to pay for the converter but I had to pay for the labor (?) it took 2 weeks (while I had to pay for my transportation) to complete. I was to pick up the car on the 27th of April,2022 and I did. It is still blowing lots of black smoke. Antwerpen said drive it for a few weeks and the smoking will stop. I drove 13 miles and the car start trembling- all over shaking. No flat tire. The engine is rumbling and shaking the car. Antwerpen said don't bring it in. Was driving about 60 down paved road started hearing knocking noise under engine noise got louder when I tried to push gas because it fealt like I lost power and then suddenly car started vibrating and then turned off. And lost all power. Oil light came on for 1 sec and then turned off the the check engine light came on and then went out and t hen rolled to a stop. Car tried to start but would not start. Had to have it towed to my house because dealer was closed and then towed to dealership 2 days ago still have not heard back from them and I have no car to get back to work. My car has just turned 70,000 miles and should not be going through this.

After a period of driving, which is random at best, the check engine light will appear and the vehicle will start to shudder and lose its ability to accelerate. This happens when the vehicle is in motion and happens both on the freeway at high speeds, as well as on city streets in low speeds. The only way to get this to stop is try and get to a safe space of the road and turn off the vehicle. It is very scary and dangerous especially in southern California freeway traffic and in mountain passes as you lose the ability to maintain speed in the middle of traffic. This could very easily cause an accident. This has happened to me on 7 different occasions over the past 2 months at random times.

My vehicle is under 70,000 miles. I was informed by the dealer service department it needs a new transmission. The transmission is not shifting properly and has caused the vehicle to stall on the road on a couple of occasions. The vehicle is making a grinding/clicking noise when it shifts. The dealer is not honoring the power train warranty from the manufacturer.

After the wheel of my car started vibrating while turning as well as rolling back when on a slight incline, I decided to look the issue up and found other Sonatas with the same year had a recall. While my VIN# did not have the recall does not mean the car was not part of the recall. After visiting a dealer, he determined the axle was indeed the issue and needed to be replaced. Having dealt with recalls in my own company, it is 100% possible that a recall does not catch all of the vehicles with the issue. Hyundai called me on my concern and said they would make a note of it, meanwhile, I could very well have a fatal accident due to an axle separation from a known issue. This issue began when turning left and has now started while driving straight which clearly indicates it is getting critically worse.

In motion car surges and jerks forward randomly. There is a gas smell when driving and car begins to shake when engine is engaged. Backup camera will not engage at random times or car will not turn on with push to start system. Diagnoses engine and electrical issue but Hyundai won't include in their recall campaign.

Vehicle shudders and shakes and loses power (without completely stalling) when accelerating from a complete stop such as pulling out of a driveway or at an intersection. Dealer reset the computer and it helped for a few hours, then started acting up again.

I've had the car since July of 2017 and about 3 months into owning it I noticed a loss in power during acceleration. I also noticed that while it's parked, after it's been driven, the car makes a popping sound in the engine area. Recently I was waiting in traffic at a stoplight and the car shuddered and acted as if it was going to shut off but then smoothed out. It has happened twice more during idling since then. When accelerating from a stopped position the car doesn't shift smoothly.

Takata recall - car is blowing out smoke - in 700 miles it has lost 2 quarts of oil, it has under 50k miles, it is covered under 2 different recalls thru Hyundai but they refuse to replace the engine, when you try to accelerate - the car will hesitate and then all of sudden blow smoke out the back - so much that you think the car is going to catch on fire, we have had it in the dealership 3 times already - contacted them other times in between. Now when trying to accelerate at just 1 rpm smoke comes out the back car starts shaking like its going to stall out check enginge light comes on - a few seconds later big cloud of smoke comes out back and car will then move leaving trails of smoke behind. Check engine light went off. Hyundai said unless the check engine light is on - it wont matter. They just want us to do a oil consumption test - the engine is making a knocking noise. Hyundai has heard it too. We leave so much smoke that we cant see a car behind us. Bought this car brand new and at 20,000 miles it all started to go down hill. My car shakes & stalls hesitates bad loss of power almost causing accidents on a daily basis. I have brought it to the dealer 5 times for the same complaint even left it there for 9 days still not fixed I have a $398 payment for a car I am afraid to drive. I will not put my children in the car I am that afraid of getting in an accident. Hyundai does nothing no one can fix it & everyone has the same complaint I do all over the internet. These cars need to be taken off the road before someone gets killed!!! I pay for a car that I keep parked thats insane!!! my car is unsafe and a road hazard and no one is doing anything for any of these people that have the same problem as me. I have even brought video footage to Hyundai and they just update my computers which makes is worse half the time.

When in drive, at low speeds (between 5mph and 10mph) the vehicle becomes jerky when decelerating, vehicle shudders as if troubling to change gears.

The car is a year old. As the passenger was turning left traveling approx 25-30mph the car started to shake violently and then the wheel came off the front passenger side. The control arm assembly failed allowing the whole wheel/drive assembly to come off slamming the front right side of the car down, yanking the car toward oncoming traffic.

The contact stated that while attempting to shift from park, to reverse, the vehicle began to shake violently and the gauges on the instrument panel would not display readings. Bought 2005 hyuandi on 12/8/04. Experienced vibration on 12/9/05 took car back to dealership in cleveland tennessee, they said nothing was wrong, but they thought that the bolts that hold the motor in car needed to be tightened. Took car back 3 days later for the same problem vibration, they said that the bolts needed to be tightened again. Took the car back on three other occasions and they continued to tighten the bolts that hold the engine in the car. Finally a representative was called in to look at the car he had me to drive the car and told me that it was normal for the car to have a vibration when sitting still and that nothing was wrong with the car. Also, he said that the bolts needed to be tightened that hold the engine in.

The contact owns a 2000 Hyundai Sonata. While driving approximately 45 mph, the engine began to rev excessively high and the vehicle lunged forward unexpectedly. When the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle hesitated and vibrated. In addition, the automatic transmission shifted violently into gear.
