Complaint in regards to NHTSA recall number 18v137000 Hyundai has failed to remedy this safety recall for my vehicle in a timely manner. Campaign 174 is dated Feb. 27, 2018. I called Hyundai recall hotline at 855-371-9460 on may 2, 2018. I requested a rental car until remedy is provided. I was told nothing can be done, and I should contact my local dealership. Local dealership said they have no information or remedy and told me to call the hotline. Dealership said if I wanted a rental car, I could rent one myself, as nothing would be provided for me. Recall remains incomplete as of June 29, 2018. This recall is a serious safety concern and places myself and my family at a great risk of injury or death. Hyundai has acted in bad faith by providing no remedy or solution to my requests over this matter in a timely fashion. While there are no airbag warning lights active on my vehicle, you won't know the airbags and seat belts properly function until you crash. That's unacceptable. I have a case number from my initial contact with Hyundai regarding my concerns over the vehicle. Case # 11225055. Honda provided free rental cars for their airbag recalls. How can Hyundai sit idle and offer nothing? I am requesting NHTSA to please pursue this complaint to help expedite a remedy from Hyundai for this recall.
Airbag indicator warning light stays on after turning the engine on.
Driver-side air bag light is illuminated at all times showing that there is a problem, but no solution presented. No matter what we do, the warning light is engaged. Concerned that the airbag system will not work properly in accident, or that the airbag may deploy while driving.
Air bag warning light on dash while driving down street, although approximately 2 weeks prior I had to stop hard suddenly for a car in front of me that decided to just stop. I had already taken my car into the dealership for the seat belt recall and have since received another notification for a seat belt recall. Air bag light was turned off when purchasing used car from Hyundai dealership in 2016. Called dealership and told no recall on air bags, and they don't know if it has takata air bags in it. I need to pay $69 to have it diagnosed.

During routine use, while a passenger was in the front seat and I was driving on the highway, the airbag warning light illuminated. The error code was b1448, which appears to be associated with a malfunctioning occupancy sensor. While there is a recall of other 2008 Sonatas for similar problems, the dealer and Hyundai claim that my vehicle is not covered under the recall. I am concerned that Hyundai has incorrectly excluded vehicles from this recall. This malfunction appears to result in the passenger airbag being disabled, which could increase the risk of injury to passengers. Please advise if there is anything that can be done to correct this issue for myself and others similarly impacted by the malfunction. The warning has not gone away, and reappears after being reset.
I had a warning light turned on my display and when taken to the dealership, they charged me 240$ for the repair. Now I see that the part they replaced was on the recall campaign which started 4 months prior to my servicing. Are they supposed to charge for the parts which are in the recall?.
Air bag warning light has come on when car is started. If system is normal, warning light comes on only momentarily and then goes off.
Airbag warning on dashboard, steering wheel components such as volume, cruise control, reset mileage and the rest of the tabs do not function on the steering wheel, rear left side brake light bulb has to be replaced every four months, front right side/driver's side head light bulb wont' come on after replacing the light bulb, inside the cab the above night/passenger and rear guest lights won't come on, after an overall tune up such as oil, filters, liquids and plugs the engine warning light comes on for two days/48 hours. The vehicle engine starts and runs normal every day. The problem is more electrical by the above information. The local Hyundai dealership would like for us to take the vehicle in to check for the problem. About a year ago or less we had a vehicle recall on two specific items. After taking our vehicle to the dealership to see about the two recalls. One of the recalls was looked into and fixed. The second recall was never fixed and the car engine was running in the worst manner, the engine would run and stall, at a stop light while the engine was running, the engine would misfire. We were at the dealership and they wanted us to leave our vehicle so that it could be checked by their technicians while in the process we were told that we were responsible for the problem or vehicle misfiring/stalling of the engine. We called the 888-327-4236 for assistance and our problem was solved. By having your group contacting the dealership and having our second vehicle recall fixed and solved. That's the main reason for not going back to the dealership, apparently they are the only ones in town. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. If we have to go back to the dealership, we'd go back but only with your assistance. Thank you. Email ccalvillo3@hotmail. Com or cell 915-472-5131.
The airbag warning light will not go off. I read a number of other Hyundai owners with the same complaint.
The "air bag" warning light on the instrument panel has suddenly stayed on after the engine has been started. It will not shut off at all when key in ignition whether the car is in motion or not.
Air bag warning light is on and will not turn off. Common problem due to clock spring in steering wheel, or sensor. Airbags will not be functional with this problem. Hyundai will not cover repair costs.
Airbag warning light is illuminated.
The last week of October 2016, my Sonata''s air bag warning light came on and has stayed illuminated for the last two weeks. Simultaneously, the right passenger seat's seat belt warning light has stayed on even when no one is in the seat. Also, the "passenger seat air bag off" light has come on.
The air bag warning light (remains on constantly) and passenger side seat belt warning lights remains on even with a passenger above the weight limit. The air bag warning light will not turn off and the passenger side seat belt light will not turn off even when the seat belt is hooked up. There is a recall for faulty sensors, recall notice, 08v161000, for 2006 - 2008 Hyundai Sonatas but my 2007 is not covered? I feel like my Sonata has many of the issues in past recalls but for some reason isn't included in them (outside lighting, esc light periodically kicking on, brake sensor failing numerous times, continuous issues with rear brakes, etc. ) I think Hyundai should expand this airbag recall as I hope we aren't being put in harms way with an unexpected airbag failure when we need it most.
The air bag warning light and passenger side seat belt warning lights come on when I start the car. The air bag warning light will not turn off and the passenger side seat belt light will not turn off unless the seat belt is hooked up. I understand that these may be issues associated with faulty sensors. This is particularly disconcerting because I've reviewed the issues on-line and it's possible the air bag system may not be operating properly. I've seen that other Hyundai owners have tried to deal with these same issues and gotten little or no satisfaction from their Hyundai dealership. There was an extended recall notice, 08v161000, associated with the passenger side air bag for 2006 - 2008 Hyundai Sonatas but my 2007 is not covered? is there a way to find out why that is?.

The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the clock spring needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. Airbag warning light came on and will not go off.
The airbag warning lights stays on.
I had been driving and everything was ok. I got home and had no dashboard lights on. I started the car up 10 minutes later and my airbag warning light was on. I took it to the dealer and they wanted like 70 dollars to diagnose and then more money for labor. This is a safety defect. I couldn't afford it. Honda diagnoses and covers stuff like that 100%. They say Hyundai has the best warranty but so far no problems I've had has been covered. A mechanic and neighbor of mine says they've seen many Hyundai airbag lights and are surprised there's not a recall.
The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while at a stop sign, the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to restart however, the failure was persistent. The contact also mentioned that the air bag warning light constantly illuminated. The vehicle was repaired previously under NHTSA campaign number: 15v568000 (engine). The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000.
I have been having problems with my airbag light. Initially when I would start my car up the airbag warning light would come on but then it would go off after a couple of minutes. Now it has come on and will not go off. It has been on for about a month. I called the dealership and they informed me that it was not under warranty. I have been looking online and seeing a lot of complaints about the air bag light. Is something going to be done concerning this problem?.
The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 52,000.
The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. While driving 45 mph, the air bag and check engine warning lights illuminated. The failure occurred whenever the vehicle was operated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the air bag module failed. The cause of the check engine warning light illuminating was not found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 24,000.
I was in a parking lot with the car turned off and used the keyless entry fob to open the trunk. The trunk flew up so quickly that the hydraulic hinge support, that props it open, broke off at the top. The abs & esc lights stay on when the car is running. Sometimes while I¿m driving those 2 warning lights will flash off, then back on a few seconds later. When that happens my brakes don¿t work correctly, and make a rubbing sound that I can feel through the brake pedal. The automotive instructor at the college I work at looked at the brakes and it¿s the calipers sticking. The dashboard srs warning light stays on, and the passenger safety belt light flashes constantly when the car is running. It doesn¿t matter if there is someone in the passenger seat or not. The tpms malfunction indicator is the most recent warning light to come on and stay on until the car is turned off. Seems like Hyundai produced nothing but lemons for quite a stretch and not much is being done to help the consumer¿.

Airbag warning light remained on after starting the vehicle recently. Vehicle was diagnosed on August 31, 2015 by local Hyundai dealership (where purchased) . Results of diagnosis stated on service description "code in acu for OCS module. Recommend replacement of passenger seat bottom". It was stated that with the airbag light on ,the service department could not guarantee airbag would work. So we immediately ordered recommended airbag parts. ( front passenger seat bottom) at a major cost of $1,246. And labor cost of $165. Parts came in and were installed on September 9,2015. Airbag light is off . This safety system needs to be investigated for root cause and corrective actions. With only 81,319 miles , this falls way short of long term performance. . With safety of my family at stake with this issue I had no other choice but to get this issue fixed . Plus it would not pass state inspection. Last I have seen several other reports of airbag lights on for Hyundai Sonata 201, same problem.
