6 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 06/07/2021

Purchased a new 2022 SUV Tucson on 5/22/21. While driving on a busy street 6/7/21 during work traffic the vehicle just cut off without warning. With horns blaring I managed to coast to the right blocking traffic leaving one lane open for moving traffic. Vehicle after a couple of tries would start but would not move when gear was placed in drive or reverse. Hyundai roadside assistance notified vehicle towed to closest Hyundai dealership. This was dangerous vehicles were almost running into the back of my SUV while abruptly stopping. I exited the vehicle while waiting for the tow truck in fear of vehicle being hit placing myself and others at risk of an accident. Informed by asst. Service manager at Hyundai dealership that no one was trained to work on the 2022 Tucsons at the dealership. As a public safety measure at least some employees at each dealership should be trained to work on all newly released vehicles before they are placed on the market. Notified on June 15, 2021 that the vehicle has a limp mode/ limp node problem. June 16, 2021 I was informed by Hyundai dealership that the 22 Tucson has a mechanical defect, transmission fluid was leaking which now the transmission needs to be replaced. The newly purchased vehicle currently has only around 370 miles on it. I thought vehicles go through an inspection before leaving factory and after they reach the dealership before being sold. This I consider to be another safety issue anything can happen during transport. A repurchase/buyback from Hyundai wasn't approved. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Vehicle is ready and will be picked up from the dealership requesting an invoice of the repair work completed for viewing. This vehicle could have caused a catastrophic deadly occurrence.

9 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2005 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 12/15/2010

My wife's Hyundai Tucson (either 2005 or 2006) almost caused an accident today when the acceleration became erratic and then stalled while at an intersection. She immediately brought it into our Hyundai service center. I spoke with a service manager to tell him about a tps (throttle position sensor) problem that I have found out about specific to the 05-06 Hyundai Tucson. I also called Hyundai because this problem will not show up as a 'fault code'. I have included here one of many notes found on the internet concerning this same problem: after having our 2006 Tucson in the dealer's service shop for over three days, it was determined that the car needed a new tps(throttle position sensor). This was after they contacted Hyundai techline and after I suggested that they test the tps as a possible cause (came to this conclusion after reviewing many websites/autoforums. Some facts: you will notice a stuttering or jerking feeling almost as if you had a manual transmission, were downshifting and releasing the clutch quickly when the engine rpm was not matched to the lower gear, or as if you tapped on the brake twice while decelerating. This motion can be either very slight or rather violent (once caused us to be actually pushed against our shoulder seat belt. 1. Almost always occurs when either coasting or decelerating, never when accelerating. 2. Usually happens between 40 -45 mph. 3. No fault code ever comes up so don't even have the tech waste his time. The service department drove the car for over three total hours to try to get a fault code reading with no results. 4. Car will stall when coming to a stop 50% of the time. 5. Happens when the transmission is warm. 6. Feels like transmission is trying to figure out what gear it wants to go into when decelerating.

10 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2010 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 10/18/2010

I have had my Hyundai Tucson for about 5 months, about two months after owning the car the car made a loud clunk and lurched forward, like I got hit from behind or like I hit an animal. I pulled over to see if I did but nothing was there. This happened about three times before I took it to the dealer. They checked it and said everything checked out fine. They reset the transmission, they told me the transmission learns your patterns and something might have gotten confused. Its been about 2 months now since they "fixed" the problem but this morning it happened again and it slammed so hard it made my son and I lurch forward and the seatbelts locked. It is very scary when it happens. I have an appt. This week to get it serviced again, we will see what they say this time. I am very concerned about the safety of the car when this happens.

11 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2010 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 05/22/2010

Sudden downshifting with loud clunk and lurching of vehicle at 35 mph. Felt as if I had been hit from behind by another vehicle. Instinctively hit the brakes and pulled over to check for exterior damage, and found none. Continued down the road and experienced unusual increases in rpms. When I arrived at my destination, the vehicle would not go in reverse. Owned vehicle only 11 days. Incident occurred at 500 miles. Vehicle towed to dealership. Service center informs me that vehicle seems to be "performing normally," but they are "checking the codes. ".

12 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2006 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 03/21/2010

My Hyundai Tucson will stall each time the vehicle is driven steadily at highway speed for 20 miles or so. Getting back on surface streets it begins to suddenly downshift into 2nd or first when slowing or braking. Following this, the vehicle will stall if it gets slow enough or you come to a stop. I fear being rearended or left in a lane to restart with traffic bearing down. The internet has several instances of the same problem with no resolution from Hyundai. I add my information, in hope it will save someone and solve the problem. I have owned the vehicle 4 months and I'm the 3rd owner, bought from Hyundai lot.

13 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2010 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 03/16/2010

Transmission problems persisting. Causing very hard downshifts, making seat belt tensioners lock.

14 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2010 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 03/04/2010

No accident yet, but worrisome. Have a 2010 Hyundai Tucson limited awd. On several occasions now. When slowing down (such as a highway on or off ramp), without foot on the gas. Car violently downshifts. To the point feels like someone slammed on the brakes. Actually slowed the car down enough that I pushed forward in the drivers seats, and the seat belt tensioned up to keep me going forward. This has happened several times. I have asked the dealer about this, and they said there is no defect, and that it is 'normal' behavior. But I have never been in a car that shifts this hard and this violently to make me worry about crashing.

16 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2008 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 07/01/2009

Owner (Hyundai Tucson 2008 GLS) Hyundai customer service and representative is the worse. My vehicle has been cutting off without any warning. I've taken my car to the dealer numerous time indicating the car cut-offs without warning. In addition, I took my car to the dealer in 2009 complaining about the cut-off and not picking up speed. The dealer ourisman Hyundai (laurel) service representative indicated there is a value that allows the air flow intake for the vehicle not opening up properly. Needless to say; they have done nothing. Again the vehicle went back in for check engine light and cutoff. Their explanation, the gas tank was not tight. In 2010 the vehicle cutoff with warning and now is cutting off without warning. To date the vehicle has cutoff without warning more than 10 times to include August 16, 2011 (speed 10 mph), August 17, 2011 (speed 15 mph), August 23, 2011 (speed 20 mph) and August 29, 2011, (speed 60 mph) without warning. Each time, ive taken the vehicle to the dealer; however they cannot replicate the problem. As I mentioned to them, the vehicle cut-offs when it wants to without warning. The cutoff without warning is an accident waiting to happen. The August 29, 2011(at 60 mph) 7:45am cut-off was fortunate the vehicle in the back did not rear end me. The vehicle cutoff, again on August 29, 2011 at 5:45 pm. The vehicle has been with the dealer each time, however they cannot duplication of locate the problem. However, they want me to pay to replace the mass air flow sensor with may not be the problem. The July incident was the first time. The vehicle is back at the dealer trying to determine the problem. Updated 09/08/lj.
