My vehicle is equipped with a dct, which causes the vehicle to slow, hesitate, fail to maintain speed, and stop without warning. Further, the transmission causes frequent rpm surges, regardless of speed or terrain or road type (it is most frequent when going up a hill, but also happens on a flat road). When merging onto a highway on a hill, I must use the slow vehicle lane to get up to speed before merging into traffic. Often, I will pull out to pass a car and the transmission will fail to respond, causing me to slow rapidly. I have taken this to the dealership on multiple dates during the year I've owned and have been repeatedly told that it is "normal" and that it will "learn my driving habits. The latter is untrue, it does not learn and I need to adapt my driving habits to the uncertainty of the transmission. This is unsafe and puts me and other drivers at risk. On multiple occasions the vehicles behing me, regardless of following distance, have had to swerve or brake due to my vehicles failings.

The car's transmission fails to power the car sometimes. When pressing the accelerator the engine will rev up but the car will not move. There was a recall for this problem but the work they performed did not fix the problem. When driving the car the driver does not know what to expect. Hyundai claims this is normal operation. This problem has been ongoing for the past 6 months. It's a very dangerous problem and something should be done to make Hyundai really fix the problem.

Since I bought this 2017 Hyundai Tucson in oct, 2016, I've had ongoing problems with the dct transmission, even after Hyundai installed their "software update. " I've visited the dealer twice to address the problem, and plan another visit this Friday. However, the last service rep I spoke to said, if I'm "still having these problems after the software update, there's really nothing else we can do at the dealership. " this ongoing transmission problem is a serious safety issue! this week, for example, there have been two instances where I almost had an accident due to the transmission failing to shift and stalling, causing delayed acceleration. (the current milage on car is 12,559. ) on Monday of this week, September 4, the car sat in driveway until about 3:42pm. (it was 74 degrees out and humid day. ) I pull out of drive way and the car jerks as I accelerate. I drove to intersection of old wharf rd. And rt. 6 on cape cod. Rt. 6 is a very busy highway, especially on labor day. I pull out of intersection to take a left, and the car transmission suddenly fails to shift causing me to lose significant speed. I barely get out in time as a car comes up on me from behind and almost hits me!! I could have had a serious accident! similarly, yesterday, September 6, the car has not been driven all day, the car jerks again as I leave my drive way and as I stop and turn onto old wharf rd. I go to a local store on rt. 6 highway about 1 mile away. As I'm leaving store, I accelerate fast get get on highway. There is a car coming. My car suddenly loses power again due to failure to shift and I am almost hit by the car as I get on the highway! I do not feel safe in this vehicle!! Hyundai's attempts to fix this dct transmission problem is not working! something has to be done about it soon before individuals or families get seriously injured!.
The 2016 Hyundai Tucson eco with 1. 6t transmission problem. Vehicle transmission will fail to move vehicle forward at times and has caused us to be stuck in an intersection numerous times even though vehicle says its in drive. Rpms just rev to redline but vehicle will not move until you let off the gas and let it idle back down to idle engine speed. Then you can try it again and it drives normal. One time had to shut entire vehicle off in the intersection and restart it to get it to move.
Tl- the contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that there had been a progressing failure that was intermittent concerning the 7 speed dual clutch assembly pertaining to the transmission failing to pick up speed while at a light and when needing to accelerate. The contact was uncertain if the failure may result in a catastrophic crash. The dealer downey Hyundai, 7550 firestone blvd, downey, CA 90241 (562) 314-4331 had provided a loaner vehicle but have they had been unable to provide a specific remedy from the manufacturer to determine a guideline for a permanent repair. The contact was uncertain if the vehicle may be repaired. The vehicle was unable to be driven and was still at the dealers. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, had not provided a remedy but was to respond pertaining to a buy back and the contact was waiting from 02/04/19 for a case manager to provide a response from the manufacturer. The manufacturer had not issued any transmission recalls but had issued 7 TSB. The approximate failure mileage was not available. Dyd.
The vehicle is Hyundai's new fuel cell model. On 3 separate occasions over 7 months the vehicle lost power while on a highway. The last occasion, November 7, 2016, I was in the left lane near the fast lane on the glendale freeway at about 9:30 am. The vehicle suddenly lost power and, since there is no left hand shoulder, I had to coast across several lanes of fast moving traffic to try to reach an exit ramp. After several minutes of not knowing what was happening to the vehicle, I gave the gear shift lever a nudge to the right. I heard a slight mechanical sound and the transmission re-engaged and I regained full power. The vehicle had nearly a full tank of fuel at the time. This same thing happened to me in the April/may time frame when driving on a highway in san diego county (about 1/2 tank of fuel) and then again in early July, 2016. When I was driving on the golden state freeway near griffith park (not sure of the fuel this time). Both times, without warning, the vehicle suddenly lost power. It coasted for several seconds but these two times -- after less than a minute -- the power reengaged, or self corrected, on its own. The November 7th incident lasted several minutes, and the engine did not self correct. On November 8th, I drove the vehicle to keyes Hyundai in van nuys. Since it had been over 4 months and several thousand miles since the second incident, I was not surprised that they could not duplicate the transmission failure. I do not believe the vehicle is safe to drive, however, and, since they have not been able to identify and correct the defect, have asked Hyundai to cancel the lease on the vehicle rather than continue to risk myself and my family in this vehicle.
Yesterday 8/10/16 while returning home from park and ride , driving 1/2 into traffic my transmission failed again for a few minutes leaving me in a traffic situation in the middle of the road where cars had to weave around me causing another dangerous position to be in. As a matter of record once again my safety driving this car was in jeopardy with no resolve from Hyundai. Hyundai states that my case is in escalation which has no true definition as to resolve. I have no choice but to involve every government agency that handles safety and any form of media to let them know that they will not be safe in vehicles produced by this company based on the handling of my case. This is the third incident I have encountered with less than 2100 miles on the car. It is important to inform all as to the danger it puts people in. In addition there are multiple complaints publicized with the same problem , dangerous unsafe positions people have encountered and no results from Hyundai. When safety is concerned , generic generated emails from Hyundai will not prevent unsafe situations that can result in serious injury and possibly loss of life. I am stating for the record, once again that I want Hyundai to take back their vehicle for full refund .
Transmission completely failed in drive. This is a known condition to Hyundai, diagnosed as dct failure. Hyundai has no known fix. Car was 6 weeks old with 740 miles on it. Cat was bought new with 65 miles. Dct failed in middle of intersection leaving wife and child stranded in dangerous traffic situation. Now at dealership awaiting anything from Hyundai. This car was almost not sold to us due to a active recall for the hood latch, but was happily sold with a known defective transmission issue.

The contact owns a 2006 Hyundai Tucson. Within a month of purchasing the vehicle, the transmission failed with less than 1,000 miles. The dealer replaced the transmission. The hazard and turn signal lights failed also and were replaced by the dealer. Two days later, the lights stopped working again. They were replaced a second time, but then failed again. The lights have failed approximately six times and have not been properly repaired. The dealer informed the contact that he uses his directionals too much and the hazard lights too long. The VIN, engine size, and number of cylinders were unknown. The failure mileage was under 1,000 and current mileage was 30,100.
