While driving, the vehicle turned off on 2 occasions. On several occasions, it lost power, and then recovered, but twice, it literally turned completely off. The "slip", "vdc off", and "service engine soon" lights all appeared. I took it to my local Infiniti dealer who said it was subject to a recall for earlier-produced models, and subject to a bulletin which described exactly what had happened. The crank position sensor and bank 1 and 2 of the cam position sensors had to be replaced at a cost of $563. 03, and Infiniti says that without NHTSA telling them to pay for it, they refuse. This car is a 2003, however, it is in mint condition with less than 55,000 original miles on it--always dealer maintained.
Engine stalled while driving, check engine light came on at the time of the stall. The engine kicked back on within seconds. Within minutes, the car stalled again sitting idle at a light but did not kick back on. Hard restart. Car was brought to the repair shop where it was found that the crankshaft position sensor was bad. Paid $400 for parts and labor to replace.
Was maneuvering a gentle right hand curve on a 4 lane city street. The car just simply died. Without the engine running the power steering was nullified and the vehicle wanted to continue in a straight line. Approximately 200 ft. Ahead there was an area with a driveway belonging to the water dept. Which I was able to wrestle the vehicle onto, out of traffic. The car would not restart and aaa was called. It was towed to the garage where the mechanic informed me the cam position sensor was faulty and the vehicle was repaired with a new one. About a year later the same thing occurred again as I was turning a corner. Without power steering or brakes I collided with the vehicle waiting at the light. Fortunately, my speed was 10 to 15 mph and damage to both vehicles was minimal. The cam position sensor was again, the culprit. Last wed. 4/29/15, there was another occurrence then again today 5/3/15, yet another. With the last two, the car was quickly put in neutral and restarted. Research revealed malfunctions with both the cam position sensor and the crankshaft position sensor were cause for a recall with Infiniti but it seems everyone that had submitted a thread concerning the problem reported the VIN number on their vehicle was not on the "list" that qualified for any action from the manufacturer. What??? if this life threating occurrence is happening to literally dozens of Infiniti owners, why is there a qualifing list???.

I've recently been having issue with the engine where the car stalls. The car start fine when I do a cold start but when the car warms up the car stalls at times. I've been hearing a lot of the stories from other people on different forums where this is a common issue for this model. The culprit are either the trottle body which I had already replace three years back, the 2 cam position sensors and crank position sensor. I recently found out that there is a recall on the cam position sensors and crank position sensor. I'm hoping that that my VIN# is part of that recall. The second issue I have been having with this car is the radio and temperature control. That I recently had changed with the factory radio attached to the temperature control. The radio would stop working. I have no control over the temperature control and the ac unit would turn on by it self. I recently just installed an after market radio. With everything after buying what was required to do a double din conversion and installation. It cost me a good amount of money. Another issue this car has is the seat belt issue. It doesn't retract properly and the passenger side it's a chore just trying to put on the seat belt.
The auto a/c pops on all by itself, disabling the entire dashboard controls. The radio lights and buttons no longer work, the fan or temperature cannot be adjusted, and the defrosters cannot be used. The dealership concluded that the entire radio needs to be replaced, a problem that is so common on these cars that the rebuilt radio part to fix it is often backordered. Once again it appears that good 'ol Infiniti/Nissan has issued an inferior TSB for the problem that does not include the scope of vins affected by this problem. So if you don't die from your defective crank shaft sensor stalling you out at 65mph, be sure to watch out from crashing from the fog on your windshield because your defroster won't work.
