1 Engine Rattling And Whining Sounds problem of the 2004 Infiniti G35

Failure Date: 03/01/2010

I purchased a 2004 Infiniti G35 in 2008. It all started after an oil change that I received in 2009 less than a month and a half later about 2000 miles of driving looking at my odometer. I heard a rattling noise coming from the engine, and while I was slowing down to come to a complete stop I notice the oil light flicker. I quickly pulled over and checked the oil dip stick, and to my surprise I showed that the low was very low, so I added 4 quarts to the engine. When I got home I checked the drive way to see if there were any oil spots in where I park my car, and there wasn't any oil on the ground. This situation of adding oil at about 2000 mile had went on for my next two oil changes. After which the problem has gotten worse to the point that I am now adding 4 quarts of oil every 1500 miles since the beginning of 2010. Nothing has been done to correct the failure at this time seeing as how I have 108k, and the warranty has expired. After doing some research on the problem it seems as though its a common issue with the G35, and that Infiniti is reluctant in correct or admitting to the problem.

2 Engine Rattling And Whining Sounds problem of the 2006 Infiniti G35

Failure Date: 05/17/2007

When my leased 06' G35 coupe hit around 6,000 miles it started making a rattling sound from under the hood. When I brought the car to the dealership to be checked on they advised me that my engine was consuming too much oil & that the engine would have to be replaced. They replaced the engine but than at around 7,000 miles the same noise came back. I have been to the dealership 4 times in the last 3 months and everytime I go back the car is 2-3 qrts oil low. The problem is that the engine that they replaced my old engine with has the same issue & it will continue to happen unless I am given a new manufactured engine - which seems to be unavailable. This is a major safety concern for my family & I want them to take back the vehicle or provide me with a new engine. I have complained to Infiniti consumer affairs who are aware of the situation but I feel I am getting nowhere. Ininiti consumer affairs states that the case is being researched. This is unacceptable for a leased vehicle & it needs to be addressed.
