Three problems related to brake drum wheel cylinder have been reported for the 1999 Jeep Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
1999 Jeep Cherokee - rear brakes occasionally lock up during/after wet weather. Not speed related. Rear brake cylinders replaced at 35k miles and 70k miles (June 2003). Remedy is to slowly pump brakes when stopping until locking-up no longer occurs.
Brake problems - rotors/calipers and wheel cylinders - all needed to be replaced.
Both rear cylinders had to be replaced twice within a month. Dealer notified, and kept replacing cylinders. Unable to locate cause of problem.
