At slow speed while accelerating from a stop, the transmission shifted abruptly and caused the vehicle to jerk. In addition there is a loud crunch. Bang or clunk noise that made me feel like another car had rear ended me. The dealer updated the computer but it did not fix the issue.
Several times within the past 2 months, including today; when driving more than 25-35 miles there will be a "service shifter" notification and the associated 'ding' noise notification that comes on. This notification blocks any action on the screen between the speedometer and rpm monitor and only successfully goes away when turning the Jeep completely off. This happens while in motion, particularly on highways, and seems to happen more often if I have used or am using cruise control on the trip. It also illuminates all of the lights on the shifter (pnrd +/-). It seems that this could potentially cause a more serious issue with shifting, cause me to become stranded, or become dangerous for myself and other drivers.
Car has 22,000 miles on it. Was driving and the car made a beep noise and a message popped up on the screen saying "service shifter" and if you look down at the shift, all of the gears are lit up red indicating that all of the shifts are on. However I have noticed it typically only comes on whenever I have my air conditioning on. I have had it do this around 17 times starting when the car hit 20,000 miles. It does not affect driving abilities.
Driving about 25 mph and the vehicle shut off. No noises, no warnings just shut off. My dash stated to "shift to park or neutral, press brake + select gear" also my drive light was flashing red by the shifter. I was lucky there was no traffic and I was able to safely pull to the side of the road. Put the vehicle in park and attempted to start. Heard noise as if everything was turning on except the engine. Waited 5 minutes and the vehicle started up again. I drove the vehicle straight home and have not tried to drive it again. It is a Sunday and the dealership is not open so I have to wait until Monday to call and request service. A google search of my Jeep showed lots of complaints with transmission as well as a video of a trailhawks dash doing exactly what mine did.
