The lift gate latch will not lock. It is a safety concern because I'm having to drive it while the rear gate is not secured. My battery died because the warning light for the lift gate would not go off. When this first happened the car was running but in park. The lift gate was opened and never locked since.

Less than a year into the purchase of a brand new 2019 Jeep Cherokee, the auto start-stop failed completely during daily rides (before then, it used to work perfectly -- at the red light for example). Took it to the dealership service center where I had bought my car from, they told me the feature functions on a separate battery and that they could do nothing crazy but manually (temporarily) recharge whatever battery they were referring to. The service manager also cluelessly told me to give it a few hours after each ride until the battery responsible for the auto start-stop functionality recharges itself. Although I followed their instruction, I got zero result. Today at the time of writing this complaint, it is getting close to two years after my purchase and there occurs another annoying bug: the main battery keeps dying on me every time I want to start the car. Also, the front display shows an "engine temperature hot" message as the battery fails to start the car, although I do not believe the message is relevant since my car had been sitting in a fairly cool spot for at least 10 hours - no reason for any parts of it to get hot while the engine is shut down.

5 out of the last 6 times when I am leaving the house, the engine shuts off when I make a left hand turn. When I restart the engine sounds like the battery is dead. It takes a few seconds, but then the engine finally restarts. I only have had this problem in the morning.
The vehicle was stationary, the battery died we changed it to a new one and it gave an error. The gearbox gets stuck once in n, when its in n it wont change to d or r.

Since 2015 when the Jeep was purchased I have had several times when the rpms would go up to 3 or 4 and I was not accelerating the gas when it happened. It acted like transmission problems . The Jeep dealer could not fine anything wrong and would update the computer, it would last for several months and then the same thing would happen. On Saturday February 8th 2020 I parked the car in a parking lot and returned 3 hours later to a car that would not start , lights would work and the battery appeared dead. I got a hotshot to try to start the car. It did start but there was no power steering , no power brakes, the engine was running rough and the lights were clicking off and on. The code stated service transmission restart in park with vehicle at zero speed. And would change to service park brake. When I turned off the car it would turn on again and it was towed to the Jeep dealer and they will look at it on Monday Feb, 10th. I will know more at that time.
On oct 29 at 19991 mileage, the cell did not start at all and found the battery dead on Jeep Cherokee latitude 2. 4 l 2019 model parked inside the garage. I used the battery charger overnight. On oct 30, I had to call mopar service for jump start as my charger did not work. After jump, the engine clunked and run but flashing all interior light and several warnings such as ,electronic stability control, service 4wd,power brake on dashboard. When I tried to pull out a car from garage and shifted the gear to the rear,"the service transmission restart in park with vehicle at zero speed ' displayed and engine stopped again. Then car was towed to Jeep dealer. On oct 31 the dealer called me and said the car is ready to pick up. At the dealer, they explained the one cell in the battery was bad and replaced to the new battery. Although I asked to explain why the battery damaged so quickly and it there was any vehicle electric system. But they said the the technician checked all system and confirmed all ok. But no explanation was provided why so many warning s displayed on the dashboard.
Car has been stutter starting. Once it finally starts I get an error code that says service park breaks service transmission. Then when putting Jeep into gear the transmission will shift hard and you can feel the car jerk and hear a clunking sound. Once you stop and turn the car off and back on a couple of times the error messages will go away and Jeep will drive normally. Two days ago Jeep had been driving normal. I stopped to get gas. After filling my tank I returned to the car to start it and the car would not start after inserting and turning the key I would not get a click or nothing. I also had no lights, not on the dash or out side of the car. After trying to jump start the car unsuccessfully I ended up having the car towed home. Once home the battery was removed and taken to be tested. I was told the battery was bad so I replaced the battery and Jeep started up fine however after starting I received the error message service park break and Jeep again would shift really hard. Error message went away Jeep started ro drive fine. Drove to the doctor and when I pulled into parking space Jeep got stuck in neutral. Finally got the Jeep to go into gear and went to drive back home and Jeep would not shift right and again jumped into neutral where it got stuck. Finally got home and parked Jeep waiting to get it into the dealer now. Jeep has 95000 miles on it.
My 2017 Jeep wouldn't start on September 22,23 2018 while parked in driveway. It made a sound like the battery was dead and didn't have enough juice to start. After attempting to start multiple times and trying to turn off radio and headlight. It finally turned over, but after returning home from running errands, the following morning on the 23rd it wouldn't not start until I received a jump. There was a p code on the dashboard of car. Ive also experience issue with it not wanting to excellerate even with excessive amount of pressure to the gas peddle.

Vehicle battery died while driving. Has happened 3 times. Happens at low speeds. Power steering is turned off and you must turn car off and turn back on. Very danergous because you can't turn your steering wheel when it is dying so easily could be hit.
First we weren't able to take vehicle home the day we signed the finance papers, 8/19/18, due to battery being dead. We then picked up car on 8/20/18. Kept vehicle till around the 23rd. The Jeep Cherokee turned off in traffic and went into battery protection mode. We had to put car in park and restart. We were almost rear-ended. I then called dealership to talk to salesman and he was busy so I asked for manager who then told me that the salesman would call me back. When I told salesman about the incident I was told to drive with start-stop function off and to wait till next day to see if it did it again. The vehicle didn't start in the morning and then tried second time and it turned on in battery protection mode so I took it in to dealership and was given a loaner. We then picked up Cherokee on or around 8/31/18. We were told the battery was recharged. The Cherokee then started to turn off again in traffic so I took it back on 9/5/18. I was given another loaner. I was then told to pick up Cherokee on 9/18/18. I was told that they didn't find anything and couldn't recreate the incident. Ever since we received the Cherokee back on the 18th we keep the start-stop function off. Now the tire pressure sensors keep coming on and off and the gas is going at a faster rate then before. Not sure if sensors are working correctly. Took car back to dealership on Sunday 10/14/18 and was told to call service the next day because they had no loaners. Today 10/21/18 vehicle turned off while driving out of parking space. Car restarted but do not trust driving this vehicle with my family inside. There has been several times the vehicle didn't accelerate while stepping on the gas pedal.
I've had the Jeep less than 2 years . Only 14000 miles on it . The transmission started jerking and lundging when it down shifted or started off from a stop. My daughter and I where coming back from the human society. While driving at about 50 mph I had to slow down for on coming traffic. The Jeep shifted to a lower gear and lunged so fiercely I thought the transmission had fallen off the vehicle. The vehcle immediately shut down. I was at a complete stop. Lights started flashing service transmission. I had no power to move. Im on an over pass with traffic and theres no where to go in the middle of traffic. By chance the Jeep was able to start and accelerate to 5mph and get to a safe place to pull over. It was a very serious hazard for me and my daughter and other drivers we basically glided to a complete stop in the midst of traffic while doing 50mph. Than starting it up and only doing 4 tmph. This was clearly a very dangerous situation. I dont feel safe or confendent. I paid a premium price for a vehicle that should be dependable and safe. Now the Jeep wont start. The rear button to close the hatch has quit working. The start button will not start the car at all. When it started to malfunction. It would hesatate as if the battery where dead. When it did start the settings 'climate control would be set to defrost. The a would show up on the face without being pressed. And eventually the screen would not react to touch at all. And the radio wouldnt play. But all elise seemed to work without a problem. The windows worked fine the lights where bright. There wasnt a problem with the battery. I am applauded that Jeep would think this is acceptable for a new vehicle im the comsumer. I paid for a product that has to and is a to certain expectations.

Problems with the lift gate results in a dead battery! the vehicle had been taken to dealer ship explaining that the lift gate would close. Service dept indicated that irregardless of the tail gate not closing that the battery shouldn't have been affected because the lights turn off automatically. Not true, yet he insisted they were to able to find anything wrong with the lift gate and reprogrammed the vehicle. A week later the same problem occurred and we scheduled yet another appt only to find the dealership needed to order a part and it would be in the next day. Woke up this am only to find the vehicle would not start because the battery was dead because the lift gate would not close. This is a reoccurring problem and it was difficult to convince the dealership to fix it. I would like to know if any other owners are experiencing this problem. The vehicle also revs high and upon making a complete it lunges forward when you take your foot off the gas. Dealership says they can't find anything wrong with the engine. It seems all they ever do is reprogram the vehicle and feel thats all they need to do. Do I have to wait until theres an incident before anyone will look at these problems? please help.
The vehicle was brought to the dealership for several issues at one time on 5/16/2017 (mileage 32779). The vehicle was purchased, new, 5/2016. The service shifter message had been coming on and going off and the dealership told me that they did not know why and could not do anything about it unless it was on when I brought it in. The dealership stated that the problem may come from the battery being bad and that they would not cover the bad battery. After a call to Jeep customer care, Jeep agreed to pay to have the battery replaced by the dealership at no cost to me. This was 7/12/2017 and the shifter issue was noted again on this service order. 4/2018, a technical service bulletin was put out about this issue, but I was not aware of it until 12/2019. After research and the discovery of the technical service bulletin, this is a common problem with many of the Jeep Cherokees produced between 2015 and 2018. There has been no recall. I brought the vehicle to the dealership 3/12/2020 to get another issue fixed and asked them to repair the service shifter problem, now that they knew how to fix it. They would only fix it if I paid for it. I, again, called Jeep customer care for assistance, but have been told this time that the mileage is too high and it is out of warranty, even though I brought this to their attention during the battery ordeal in 5/2017. They are refusing to cover the cost of the repair, even though this has been brought to them during the warranty period (as with the battery). Originally, Jeep techs did not know what the problem was or how to fix it when I brought it to them in 2017. But Jeep is now aware of the problem and how to fix it but won't unless I pay for a repair they weren't able to do, at the time, but are able to do now.
I have a 2008 Jeep grand Cherokee diesel limited two wheel drive. I bought the vehicle with 92,289 miles. At 93,290 miles the check engine light came on which according to the Dodge dealership indicated that the eeg valve and battery was bad. So I replaced the gr valve in the battery. Periodically since then the check engine light would come on and then go off. On a trip to ohio the engine light came on and the car died on the freeway during a rainstorm. It was towed to a local Jeep dealership for diagnosis. The dealership told me that the airflow control valve was bad, but they needed to pull the battery out and disconnect the powertrain control module to get a true reading and make sure it was the airflow control valve. The powertrain control module is located underneath the battery. Upon pulling the battery and box the mechanic noted that there was battery acid on the power control module and on the wiring harness that connects to the power control module. I was told that in order to get proper readings the power train control module would have to be replaced as well as the engine wiring harness for a total cost of $2091. And they also indicated that after this was done they would be able to check to see if there were any other problem. I believe all the problems may have been false readings because battery acid had eaten through the powertrain control module and damaged the wiring harness connector, causing false readings when hooked up to the diagnostic machine. I do not have $3000 a month to invest in this vehicle to continue to find additional problems. Please help me!!!.

Have submitted a complaint before but the problem continues and has gotten worse. My Jeep loses all electrical power and shuts down and restarts itself while driving, occasionally doesn't accelerate past second gear and other times accelerates very slowly, numerous but problem began recurring only days later. Only now my Jeep is additionally at times acting like it wants to shut down but instead is just faltering shaking the whole vehicle violently accompanied by the struggling to accelerate. - electrical system on five occasions all of dash lights came on and went off while I was driving, two of these times the engine stalled and restarted itself. Took vehicle to dealership and was told no problem was found. Numerous electrical issues. The most dangerous have been the prnd lighting up and vehicle not going over 1st or 2nd gear while driving. This has happened to me 7 times now, 4 of which have tried to be diagnosed by the dealer without success of this and gave it to the dealer when they told me 'nothing was wrong' according to their diagnostics. Photo proved otherwise. Also the vehicle has shut itself off twice while I was driving on a busy road. The windows also get stuck and will not work. Have to operate one window to make the other one work. The battery failed and 'transmission over temp" error happened at the same time. Manufacturer's service agent said it was a false readout due to battery failure transmission. This has been a problem since firs started yesterday on 04 /10/2011 I need help my car is in newark NJ.

Battery died. Yh.
The consumer noticed that the key can be removed without turning the ignition switch off. The key can be moved from any position and has caused battery failure many times. The vehicle could be started with any key, screw driver, etc. (this could be the reason why Jeeps are easily stolen and insurance costs are high).
