190 problems related to car stall have been reported for the 2006 Jeep Commander. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Our 2006 Jeep Commander has had a recurring problem of stalling at random times, while both driving and idling. Every day we start the vehicle but cannot drive it right away because it stalls out if we don't wait at least 5 minutes to "warm it up". Another example, we were driving on a city street and turning left in an intersection and it stalled out while in motion and lost control of steering and braking. I noticed that there have been recalls for thousands of 2006 Jeep Commanders, but our VIN # shows no recalls for our car. We are having the same exact problem with this truck as the other owners of recalled 2006 Jeep Commanders. It is currently in the shop for the third time and the mechanics cannot recreate the stall while moving issue and cannot figure out why it is hesitating and stalling. This is my 16 year old new driver's vehicle and I'm afraid for her safety.
I have a 06 Jeep Commander with the 5. 7 hemi. I have been having a problem tied the vehicle stalling at random time. Most of the time it is while the vehicle is in motion. A few times at highway speeds. Also and I dont know if its coincides but the Jeep will buck like you hit something and the traction control light will illuminate and stay on. (dry roads). Thank god no accidents but was told by countless Jeep dealers there is no issue.
This issue has happened three times now, I have been driving on the freeway at about 70 mph and all of a sudden there is a ding on the dash board and the car stalls, and the engine light comes on. Once you shut down the car and start it again the car works fine but the engine light stays on for a couple of hours, according to Jeep they charge for a diagnosis and I see online that this is happening a lot in my type of vehicle but Jeep has yet to acknowledge it. I think it is very dangerous since I have been driving on a freeway where people are driving as fast or faster than me and could cause a problem.
Tl the contact owns a 2006 Jeep Commander. While driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle stalled and the security warning indicator illuminated. The contact called gastonia Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (2339 e franklin blvd, gastonia, nc 28054, (704) 874-6000), but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the key was not programmed to the vehicle and the failure was similar to the failure listed in NHTSA campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 58694595. The contact was referred to NHTSA. The failure mileage was 158,951.
Vehicle stalls randomly, losing power brakes and steering. This is a major safety issue. Unfortunately, there needs to be solid a resolution as people can't spend tons of money on what the issue "might" be and then get back on the road in this death trap to only have it stall again.
2006 Commander stalls on highway and then starts right back up. Happens at any speed.

Jeep Commander 2006 limited 5. 7 l engine. The complaint is as follows: while driving, at random, slow and medium speeds, all the dashboard lights activate at one time followed by immediate loss of engine power. (at no time did my knee hit the key or ignition cylinder) this issue does not clear up on its own. The only solution to avoid an accident is to immediately put into neutral, pull off the road or highway as quickly as possible. (at this time, the car is sputtering severely or stalls) next step- turn the key to off position, wait a few seconds and re start the vehicle. It starts and runs normally. The loss of power and dash light activation is occurring every other day. Upon my own further investigation, many reports have been logged (with basically the same complaint) on carcomplaints. Com, with additional video proof on u tube ( just type in Jeep Commander dashboard haywire) with several videos of the incident. Chyrsler customer care claims ( as of today) to know nothing about it - told me to call local dealer, local Jeep dealer (car was purchased new) was contacted- they claim to now nothing about it. Told both agencies to get off their butt to look at car complaints. Com or just view the numerous u tube videos. With this many complaints, I find it surprising that Chrysler to not be aware of this issue. I have followed all recalls and had the ignition lock cylinder and reprogram the final drive control module completed many months before problem occurred. Any assistance in resolving this serious safety issue would be greatly appreciated.

My car stalls while turning or idling at stop lights. I know there was a recall for this however the dealership says my VIN isn't included however it has stalled 10 times this month.
2006 Jeep Commander 5. 7l stalls at low speed, city driving going strait.
My vehicle stalls and cuts off when stopped at stop signs and traffic lights. The engine also shakes and acts as if it wants to die while driving. I took my vehicle in for recalls after I left the service center it once again cut off at the first stop light I came to.
The vehicle stalls in motion on both residential and highway and loses power steering. Cruise control once you set it acceleration occurs on its own this occurred on the highway. Ignition bumps out of the on position into accessory or off on it's own.

I purchased the vehicle in 2010 and within a month some electrical issues were intermittently occurring. The dealer said the ignition had to be replaced and did so. These problems seemed to continue thought not often. The symptoms are as follows-first the lights start flickering and then go out. All of the dash components go out including the speedometer, fuel gage, radio etc. The ac fan also turned off. This condition did not stop the vehicle from running it just turned off the electrical components there was however a problem with stalling, a separate issue from the electrical issue. , a few times while in the vehicle was stopped it would stall when stopping or starting off again. This was true in reverse and forward. I was never really worried about safety until last night when the lights went out while driving on a dark curvy country road. It was only for a few seconds but it was terrifying. This issue needs to be dealt with. In 2015 there were several recalls issued and they seemed to be related to the problems I was having. I had all of the recall notices dealt with. The software upgrades and the ignition replacement. This didn't solve the problem. In fact it.
The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Commander. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 70 mph, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was repaired under an ignition switch manufacturers recall two years ago. The vehicle was not repaired this time. Stalling problems while driving. This issue has been going on for over a year now, I was told by Jeep to get p41 recall repaired and possibly fix the problem. I've had p41 done and the same problem keeps happening. Everything just completely shuts down and I am unable to steer and have to restart the engine. This has happened to me numerous of times including driving on the freeway. I've contacted Jeep customer service, I was told I was the only one they know of regarding this issue which is not true. Another problem is dashboard lights will light up on and off while driving. All light indicators will stay on for period of time until car is restarted again.
When driving my Jeep Commander it stalls. It happens when I am stopped and try to go or when I slow down then try and accelerate. My life has been at risk when this happens. One of the times I was driving on the interstate going 65mph and it stalled. I am extremely upset about this especially since I have a 2 year old son that is in the car with me.
Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Jeep Commander. The contact stated that while driving at 25 mph, the vehicle stalled. This is in response to the recall for the ignition switch on my 2006 Jeep Commander. My vehicle has had the ignition switch replaced at the dealership but you should know that the replacement does not cure the problems that it was meant to fix. The work was completed at 9:30am and the next time I drove that day,it did the same exact shutdown as it did before (with all lights on the dash flashing). The stalling and shutdown does not occur because of hitting the key with your leg as I am only 5'4" and my leg doesn't touch the ignition. The shutdown occurs because of a short somewhere inside the ignition. It occurs randomly and sometimes can be stopped by lightly turning the key to the left. I have also found that the shutdown occurs at extreme frequency when driving in heavy rain or extremely slushy roads, which tells me that somewhere, something is getting wet and shorting the vehicle out. It is very hard to get the lights to stop flashing in this type of weather and I have had to pull over a couple times because of the danger of stalling in traffic. I am stuck with this dangerous vehicle because of my financial situation and have fought for something to be done about it by the dealer starting 20 days after I bought it but of course nothing was done until the government got involved and sadly it still hasn't cured the problem. I hope you receive more complaints and make the dealership correct the problem the right way. Thank you for your time, tracy l. Field.
Jeep has total loss of power, control, and steering while driving. Car will no start unless in park or neutral, losses all power electrical and steering once you let foot off of the accelerator. I almost ran into another vehicle while heading hope and was nearly rear ended at another intersection due to stalling and no control. All of this happened within hours of ed voyles Jeep replacing the ignition switch p41 recall. Super super dangerous. . .

The dealer informed the contact that the NHTSA campaign number: 08v203000 (power train) for the year, make, model, and failure were similar because the investigation involved the 4. 7l v-8 engine. The contact's vehicle was equipped with a 5. 7l v-8 engine. The manufacturer was unable to provide a recall repair. The manufacturer opened a case on the contact's behalf regarding the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.
My vehicle constantly stalls while slowing down to almost a stop or a stops. It happens almost every time now. When slowing down for a light while traffic is slowly moving my Jeep stalls and I've almost been hit 5 times now. Not good.
While traveling at highway speed and after about 1. 5 hours of continuous highway operation, the vehicle stalled without warning. I was able to safely move to the emergency lane and brake to a stop. I placed the vehicle in park, turned the key to off, and re-started without incident. Since the first occurrence, this has happened almost daily, always at highway speeds and sometimes while on a curve. This occurs during my daily commute, which is approximately 20 miles, each way.

I was slowly pulling through a stop light (stop and go traffic up to it). Jeep suddenly lost power of all kinds - stalled engine, no emergency flashers, no radio, nothing. Tried to turn key & restart it a # of times but it was dead. Ambulance drove by, stopped & pushed me out of the road. As they were pushing me, electrical came back on. So I tried to turn key again and car started. **I am pretty confident that my knee did not touch the key- I am too short for that and also the car would not restart once stalled- I turned key many times to tr and get out of the road and car remained dead/powerless. All electrical was off. Once car came back on, radio stations no longer programmed, etc. Much like the battery had died. ** plz note, mileage is estimated- I need to go look inside car.
All of my safety warning lights flash on and off repeatedly. When this happens my car electrical things turn off including the ac,radio and everything else. The engine how ever did not. The car kept running but everything else stalled and turned off and on. . The first time was on the street but it continued even on the freeway going 60 mph. I took to dealer and they stated nothing is wrong. They could not find anythin. They even put in on the computer machine and nothing. I have only had vehicle for 2 months and im very worried. I have no other transportation and have to drive the vehicle to work and my kids around. I have a video of how the car kept doing that. If someone can contact me , I would be more than happy to send the vehicle video over.
