1 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2006 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 07/22/2011

While driving down the highway the car shut off while going 60 miles per hour. I coasted over to the side of the road. The engine was able to restart. It was very dangerous though having the car shut off while driving 60 miles per hour on a busy road and trying to pull off the road safely. The engine lights stayed on after the car was restarted. I had the car towed to the service center for repair. They re-flashed to correct the codes.

5 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2006 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 01/03/2011

Jeep Commander gets hard jolt, as if being hit from behind, and engine "dies". No lights on dash, just won't go. Engine doesn't rev. Tach at 0 regardless of amount of accelerator. You can put it in park and it will start again. This has happened on several occasions, I have had it in the shop on numerous occasions, always with the report of nothing is showing on the computer report. I have spent over $1000 on various fuel systems services, tune ups, etc which they say may be the problem, but it is still stalling. Dealer says that the problem can't be replicated. With all these reports, and the obvious danger of an unexpected stall this is life threatening and needs to be recalled.

6 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2007 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 09/25/2010

We have a 2007 Jeep/commander sport thats really somewhat a proble since we bought it (used) and its been a problem since getting it. It has a serious problem with lurching forward while in park/drive and while you're pressing the brakes at a stop. It did it at the dealership as well they did nothing about it. We've replaced inner parts to the transmission that Chrysler refused to cover under the warranty. We've had some type of module replaced a couple of times because the truck started running rough( Chrysler covered that) each time it happened. Theres so much we caan complain about this truck and Chrysler doesnt wnat to cover non of the major things. There's definitely /always has been an engine problem.

7 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2007 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 09/24/2010

I have a 2007 Jeep Commander. Not the limited edition. In the 4 months that I have owned it, it has stalled while driving 3 times resulting in a new esm, suddenly lunged forward, on its own, while stopped in traffic, and now stranded our family twice with not starting. The first two problems are a safety issue and should be looked into and recalled immediately. Stalling while driving is beyond dangerous! with the suddenly accelerating on its own while I was stopped in traffic, had I not had my foot firmly on the brake, someone could have been hurt. My autistic son was in the car with me on that occasion and on the stalling occasions, all 4 of my kids were in the vehicle. I have lost all confidence in mopar products and Jeep needs to recall these hunks of junk before someone, or an entire family, gets hurt or killed. Please make Jeep fix these problems immediately to avoid disaster like Toyota has faced.

8 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2007 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 08/29/2010

Engine stall at random times, weather conditions and driving speeds the engine stops accelerating but does not turn off. Its as if the car is in neutral gear when it is in drive. The lights around the led gear display flash in unison after 4 15 seconds the car accelerates again. The engine light will turn on for a day or a minute and then shut off. The issue has occurred on several occasions over the last year the latest is listed below. The Jeep dealer cannot find any problem.

10 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2007 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 06/10/2010

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Commander. The contact stated while attempting to pass another vehicle at approximately 70mph, the vehicle made an abnormal clunk noise and the vehicle would no longer accelerate. The contact coasted to emergency lane and shut off the engine. When restarting, the vehicle resumed normal operation. The parking assist warning then illuminated on the warning panel. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. One week later while accelerating from a complete stop, the failure recurred. The manufacturer advised there were no recalls and would not provide any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. There was a previous investigation for the failure however; a recall did not originate from the investigation. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000 and the current mileage was approximately 38,200. The VIN was unavailable.

My check engine light came on in my 2006 Jeep Commander this is a common problem code 0700 failure of transaxle control module it was a recall for the 4. 7 but not the 3. 7 it can be lifethreatning for your truck to hesitate while you are merging into traffic something needs to be done.

After ignition the "service park assist system" warning comes up in the control panel, then the rest of the warning lights turn on, then after driving noticed that the speedometer was not working, then the vehicle would stall while driving, the accelerator does not respond, I was able to park on the side of the street, luckily it was not a heavy traffic street.

My 2007 Jeep Commander 3. 7l 6 cyl. 4x4 nearly comes to a stall when idling or coming to a stop. Recently, at idle, it actually stalls out. I took this to the dealer and they said nothing was wrong. I am now taking it in to another dealer for more testing.

15 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2007 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 02/22/2010

2/22/10 6:10 am - normal driving conditions 2007 Jeep Commander 3. 7 v6, approx 30-35 mph, loss of power, no power steering, engine light came on. Stopped vehicle, turned vehicle off, restarted, engine light remained but was drivable. This the 3rd time in a month this has happened. Highest rate of speed with loss of power was 40 mph. 2/21/10 - 4:30 pm - started vehicle, put vehicle in drive, no power, loud clunk under vehicle, no rpms from gas pedal, all lights within gear position panel all lit at once. Used manual shift into 4th gear, drive light came on, vehicle was now drivable. Called Jeeps 1-800 number advised them of problems, was told to contact Chrysler dealership for warranty diagnosis. Made an appointment for 2/23/10.

16 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2007 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 02/15/2010

Transmission stalling while driving- according the dealership service this is a problem with the electronic shift module. This has happened several times and is also a noted problem in these vehicles. This same vehicle has already been recalled for similar issue, but only for the bigger engine size. Chrysler has informed me that they will not investigate even though it is the same problem in a different engine size. The vehicle can be traveling at 70 mph on the interstate and stall without warning. It will not go any further without stopping, turning off the engine and restarting. This happens several times daily. I have tried to get fixed and work with the problem, but after almost being rearended by an 18wheeler on the interstate today, enough is enough. It is for 2007 Jeep Commander 3. 7lt.

17 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2007 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 01/31/2010

2007 Jeep Commander, 92,000 miles, stalls while driving without any warning. I was able to guide vehicle to side of the road and re-start the engine. This stalling problem has occurred on about ten occasions now, once with my kids on board, a scary situation to say the least. Sometimes before the problem starts the park assist will turn itself off and then the check engine light will come on. We have tried several times to get an error code from the computer system by turning the key 3 times in a row but it never returns a code. Sometimes the check engine light will stay on for a couple of days but eventually goes out and the Jeep will run fine until it happens again. The last time this occurred the ability to shift the gears from 1 to 4 was inoperable and when you pressed the gear shift right or left it remained in drive. I have called several dealerships and have been advised that they haven't heard anything of this problem and they want me to pay to have a diagnostic ran but can't confirm what the problem is.

19 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2006 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 10/05/2009

Driving my 2006 Jeep Commander on 635e in dallas, TX, the car just died going 70 mph with 6 lanes of traffic, and I was in the lane next to the hov lane and it had not shoulder, just a concrete wall. Rather that cross 4 lanes of heavy fast traffic with no acceleration in the car, I went into the hov lane which had less traffic and got rear ended but was not a serious wreck as it well could have been. I put my car in park and started it and took the next exit and reported the accident to the police. When I got home I looked up recalls for my Jeep and found the v8 engine had a recall on the front control module since the car would stall on the highway. My car is a v6. I took it to the dealership and they could not find anything wrong. I called Jeep and they said I should take it to another dealership 50 miles away to "see another doctor to find the problem" in the meantime I have to fix the damage from the rear end collision and thank my luck stars I am still alive to fix it. Your campaign number for the recall I referred to 08v059000.

20 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2007 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 09/07/2009

When the cruise control is engaged at highway speeds and the vehicle is traveling down a hill the cruise control will properly downshift to slow the vehicle and keep it at the set speed. If the vehicle is then shifted into neutral, the cruise control will disengage properly and the transmission will go into the neutral gear, but when shifted back into drive the transmission will re-engage and will slow the vehicle extremely abruptly as if someone slammed on the brakes with full force and will nearly lock-up the rear wheels on dry pavement. This will occur even if the cruise control is turned off before shifting back into drive. This has happened to me twice because of the placement of the shifter, and it was terrifying because of the speed I was traveling and the abruptness with which the vehicle slowed. If anyone would have been behind me I would have been hit and there is nothing that can be done to make the transmission not do that once the transmission has been shifted into neutral. The vehicle would become completely out of control if driving on anything but totally dry pavement.

This is the second time for a recall, and our car has been in there a total of 4 times for safety issues such as broken seat belts. 2006 Jeep Commander stalls at no particular time, rolls back on an incline after taking foot off brake pedal, vehicle will shut off at no particular time. Jeep has recalls for these problems but the VIN says none is available therefore dealer will not perform recall. Recall is for the v8 model but the vehicle has the exact same transmission and has the same characteristics even though it is a v6 model. Very unsafe to drive while having these problems.

28 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2007 Jeep Commander

I own a 2007 Jeep Commander at about 10,000 miles it started to stall and turn off. Dealer did not replace any parts only flushed the on board computer and updated the software. My 2006 Jeep Commander stalls. I purchased the vehicle 2 months ago and the Jeep has stalled around 10 times to date. I took the Commander to barton Jeep here in spokane. . . They said they "flashed" the computer. They said this should fix the problem. Nope! stalled 3 times in the last week (which is when we got the Jeep back from barton Jeep). 32 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2006 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 11/10/2008

Had cruise control set to 65 mph on the freeway. Out of nowhere the car began accelerating on its own to reaching speeds of 85 mph. If cruise control is turned on now it accelerates on its own and I MA not able to control the speed at all. Have taken car to dealership but they say nothing is wrong. Front windshield leaks and lets in too much air. I should not have to pay for repairs since it is a defect. Driver side window does not go down. Now rear passenger side window is starting to get stuck. Have replaced driver side switch and the problem still exists. Front passenger window goes down but the driver side which has controls to all the windows does not work for any of the windows. My car accelerates on its own on a daily basis. It can go from 35 mph to uncontrollable speeds. Taken to dealership several times but they never find the problems. Dealership cant even figure out what is wrong with the electrical windows.
