4 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2006 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 05/19/2015

I have getting intermediate message since may saying "transmission over temp" in dash area. I have taken to the dealer on may 14, in which they took an educated guess to change my transmission fluid. I agreed to the service which did not solve the problem. I took to back the dealer again on June 1, for the same problem. This time the dealer technicians worked along with Chrysler by opening a case. The corporate Chrysler techs recommend to replace the solenoid, I agreed to do that. Since may I have spent over $1320. 00 at dulles Jeep and I still have the same problem. Please advise how can you help me? thank you andrew.

5 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2007 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 09/02/2014

During commute to work, vehicle shifting in a jerky manner and rpms are high and erratic for speed of vehicle. At 10:00, when driving to a meeting, when first putting Jeep into gear, the gear display "d" disappeared and "4" was in its place, concerning me that the overdrive went out (I've already had a solenoid pack replaced due to the overdrive "going out" - happened about 2 years ago). Vehicle did not want to move forward as I was attempting to pull out onto the street. Fortunately, it moved forward and I reached my destination. During commute home, about 5 miles into my drive on the toll road, the check engine light came on and the engine stalled. Had to pull over to the side of the road, place in park, turn off ignition switch, turn back on, and resumed my commute home.

8 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2006 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 06/14/2008

I own a 2006 Jeep Commander. I got notice for a recall on it, recall h19 about bad software programmed into the powertrain control module. I took it in and 2 days later my transmission locked into 3rd gear. I'm not a mechanic but I do know that the transmission is powertrain. I took it in to get check and they said I need a new solenoid which gets its signal to switch gears from the powertrain control module. They won't cover it though. I called Jeep and they also said they won't cover it. I ask the garage if they could change it back to the way it was before the recall and they said no. My Jeep was running fine before I brought it in for the recall. Anyways after arguing with everyone about it I gave up and decided I'll pay for it, but come to find out, a transmission solenoid pack for Jeep Commanders are on factory backorder and don't know when they'll get the part. So that goes to say that alot of Jeep Commanders transmission solenoids are going bad. I was driving when the transmission locked into 3rd gear, the vehicle gave us a jerk when it shifted down to 3rd gear, from then on it wouldn't go into another gear.

9 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2006 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 12/01/2007

I bought the 2006 Commander used in August of 2007 with 13,000 miles on it. It ran great, no complaints. In the winter-time, I noticed when I started it after it had been sitting for several hours, then put it in gear, stepping on the gas pedal would do nothing but rev the engine. A few seconds later it would kick into gear and go. I contacted the dealership who said it just needs time to warm up, it's winter and the car is cold. When spring rolled around this was still occurring. One day I was traveling down a hill, heard a big clunk and then the gear shift would only register 3, 4 and 5. No 1 or 2. I brought it in and they replaced the solenoid. The problem didn't come back right away but came back eventually. I've had the problem ever since December of 2007 and on Monday I'm taking it in for the 4th time to drive with yet another technician so they can guess at what the problem may be. Problem is, I'm at 35,400 miles. Once I hit 36k I'm sure they'll discover the problem and then I'll have to pay for it.
