1 Transmission Gear Indicator problem of the 2007 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 02/24/2017

My vehicle would no longer accelerate in traffic causing me to almost get hit in the rear of the vehicle. I could do nothing but coast and brake. All gears became highlighted which were not previously. I am worried if this continues to happen I will be in an accident. This seems to be a common encounter among Jeep owners but there is no recall.

2 Transmission Gear Indicator problem of the 2006 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 12/29/2016

After driving for short amount of time ( 15-20 minutes) the transmission seems to lag into shifting. There is also a problem when trying to manually shift gears. Tried shifting into low gear at stop light, and the indicator on the dash stays in ' d' and will not engage in other lower gears. It also appears to lag when traveling at a stead speed, about 30-45 miles per hour.

5 Transmission Gear Indicator problem of the 2007 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 02/01/2012

On several occasions my car has stalled and all gear boxes will light up with a message saying "service park assist" sometimes the car will beep and other times it won't. Usually this happens when I am in motion driving but at times will also happen when first putting it into gear. The check engine light will also come on. I have tried taking it in several times but they can't do anything because it will stop doing it before I get to the shop. Sometimes if I am stopped at a light the car will switch back and fourth from stalling and then back into gear without touching anything usually to make the car return to gear you have to pull over and turn the car off and back on it can take a couple times of doing this to make it correct. Sometimes when it switches out of gear and stalls there will be a loud sound the car will jerk it sounds like something under the car is causing the problem. This has been an on going problem since I bought this car this is a very serious problem that could potentially cause serious injuries or death I have been lucky enough to be able to quickly pull over every time it has happend. This needs to be investigated and have a recall there are several complaints of the same problem all over the web.

6 Transmission Gear Indicator problem of the 2007 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 11/09/2011

My 2007 Jeep Commander that I have had for less then a year has been giving me issues for a few months now, the service park assist light will come on and then the gears will light up and vehicle will stall while driving, it will lose all power and shift like the trans is slipping, at one point I was going across traffic while leaving a parking lot and it stalled lucky for me there was no other cars coming my way. I have had enough of this problem and seems like others are having the same problem, why is this not being recalled for safety purposes, its only a matter of time before I get rear ended from this issue.

7 Transmission Gear Indicator problem of the 2006 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 07/04/2011

Suddenly out of nowhere my 2006 Jeep Commander v6 just start jerking and driving very poorly. It only stays in third gear and the mil light indicator is on. It also jerks and seems like theres issues with the transmission. I've read online hundreds of users posting the same issue but there is no recall on the vehicle yet. This is very irritating and this could've easily caused an accident. I do not ever plan on purchasing an american made vehicle ever again. The Jeep dealer will not address this issue. This is unacceptable. I still have the issue.

10 Transmission Gear Indicator problem of the 2007 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 03/02/2009

Vehicle stalls and driver loses command of accelerator, power steering and brakes. Happens at various speeds but obviously most dangerous at highway speeds. When vehicle loses power, all gear indicators light up on the dashboard and the vehicle information system display reads "service park assist system" and the check engine light appears. Recommended dealer repair is the replacement of the "electronic shift module". This temporarily solves the problem but recurs within a few thousand miles.
