My front brakes locked up while driving on the freeway the first time 11/4/10. I was told from the dealership that they could not duplicate this issue, but got an error from the car that said the front right wheel was going faster then all the rest of the tires and the abs activated and locked up the front wheels. This happened again 12/15/10 and the abs, slippery when wet, esp, bas, and service 4 wheel drive lights came on. The dealership tested it again and got the same error message. They replaced the sensor on the front right passenger wheel, and stated that this may have fixed it, but that they are not 100% sure how to fix the issue. I believe this is similar to recall 06v493000. I have also filed a claim with Chrysler. No one will help me. I am afraid for my safety as well as my families in this car. I can not afford a continuous rental or to purchase a new car. I am now out time loss at work, car rental, towing, and costly repairs. Please help me.

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Commander. While driving 55 mph, the brake pedal extended to the floor. The contact smelled a burning odor coming from the rear brakes. The vehicle still managed to stop, even though the pedal dropped. There was no fuel leakage. The dealer stated that the brakes were locking, but was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 06v493000 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock:control unit/module). The vehicle reaches 11 miles per gallon. The failure mileage was 5 and current mileage was 4,600.
I purchased my 2006 Jeep Commander in oct. 2005 from mccune Chrysler Jeep in national city, CA. Initially, I started noticing my brakes shimmying as I came to a stop. I reported to my dealership a few times but no good came out of it. Then, last Thursday, sept. 13, I noticed my dashboard lights (electrical system, brakes and transmission lights) flashing on and off as I accelerated from a stop and headed uphill. It felt as though the Jeep wanted to stop and go at the same time. I reported it to my dealership and brought in the vehicle the next week. The dealership quoted me $190 to analyze it (since my Jeep was about 8,000 miles beyond the warranty period). Then, they told me that it would cost me over $400 to repair the vehicle even though they did not know what was wrong with it. I began to research the internet about recalls on this make and model and found that Chrysler had issued a recall on Friday, sept. 14, 2007. I printed the article and brought it to my service rep at mccune. The rep insisted that it was not my problem and that his dealership had not heard of a recall on my make and model. So, I called Chrysler's customer service department in oak ridge, TN. The representatives there insisted that there was no recall. Frustrated, I accepted the dealerships offer to repair my vehicle. They quoted me a $100 deductible to place the vehicle under warranty. As I drove off, the same thing happened all over again. I called the service advisor and explained what had happened. He insisted that he test drove the vehicle and the lights never came on. I didn't believe him. I feel that he mislead me and that his dealership never repaired my vehicle. I will bring my vehicle back to mccune Monday morning (9/24/07) and I will see what will happen. I paid for a rental vehicle last week (over $100 and the dealership never offered to cover my expenses. I am so frustrated.

Brakes failed twice since purchasing vehicle in April. Once with my wife driving and once with me which I will describe here: driving uphill at about 35 mph and traffic light at top of hill turned red. Removed right foot from accelerator and pushed on brake pedal. The pedal felt very stiff and did not travel the normal distance. Brakes did not engage regardless of how hard I pressed on pedal. Had to swerve to shoulder. After about 3 seconds the brakes kicked in my locking up all 4 tires.
I have a 2006 Jeep Commander and I am having problems with the brake system. Everytime I turn my vehicles, and switch pedals from brake to gas, my car just locks in place. This has happened twice as I am going into a major intersections and I almost was involved in an accident (rear ended) because of this. Basically the vehicle has the same problems described on the Chrysler recall press release but on their website I checked the VIN number and it says that there are no recalls for my vehicle.
