2 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2006 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 10/18/2007

Pulsating of brakes when applied to come to a stop. Asked dealership 2x to check. First time was told they were fine, second time they took out for a test drive and experienced the pulsing. Inspected the brake system and found that all 4 rotors were not worn down, but were warped. They explained that it was most likely caused by being heated up by frequently stopping short. I have been driving for 30 years and have had many vehicles and never an issue with replacing rotors after 2 years, not due to the life of the rotor, but warping. I have been in the same job for 23 years and driving the same roads. I do not frequently stop short or ride my brakes. If anything I utilize the feature of down shifting as not to apply the brakes as often. I was told that when I bought this vehicle there should not be any issues because it was a first model because it was based on the Jeep grand cherokee. I have noticed that there was a class action suit regarding the brakes on that model.

3 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2007 Jeep Commander

Failure Date: 03/09/2007

Braking capability -- seemingly in front end of vehicle -- is diminished by apparent warping of front brake rotors. This became first noticeable to me at approx just 15k miles. Jeep (daimlerchrysler) wants no part of repair (warranty exp at 12k miles, they say). Independent repair shop informs me that this is chronic problem with Jeeps. I complained to daimlerchrysler via latter in March; they declined to help via letter dated April 10, 2007.
