Three problems related to front suspension hub have been reported for the 2007 Jeep Compass. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I bought this vehicle and put $423 into the front end replacing rotors, brakes, wheel bearings, hub assembly and control arm bushings only to take it to a garage to find out why it was still impossible to drive safely. I was told by two different garages that it isn't safe to drive because the struts and whole front end is damaged beyond repair that would cost more than the vehicle is worth. Also the car dealership has removed the airbags and now made it nonstickerable. You can't drive it without the vehicle feeling like the front end is gonna fall out and is unable to control the steering.
I had a rear left wheel bearing and hub assembly removed and replaced because of the very loud noises it produced. Then he also told me at that time, I would also need a right rear wheel bearing done, and rear brakes. I already had my front brakes replaced. In addition a tie rod replaced as well and also lower left and lower right control arms replaced. Not to mention a wheel alignment to boot because I just put on 4 new tires. Now with everything I have heard I'm worried about my ball joints, will they be next? I am afraid to drive the dumb car, I don't go for any trips or anything, I am a senior who hasn't much money but I would like to be safe. Why aren't they making Jeep do a recall on these cars? I also received in the mail a silent recall for corrosion on the cross members, now they are giving me a hard time about that as well. Please, someone help us out!.
The bearings melted into the hub assembly and it wore out the brakes and ruin all four tires, now the lower control arms are going out. I have only 43000 miles on the car and the warranty has ran out at 36000 miles. This should not have happen with such low mileage. Alignment will not stay because of the tires and the lower control arms. There has not been a recall but the hub, bearings are not able to geased. So these parts wear out sooner than normal.
