Jeep Compass owners have reported 4 problems related to brake loud noise (under the service brakes category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
When I adjust the forward collision preferences settings it show me "selected" and I can back to the main menu and come back again to this option to check and continues selected, but when the ecu sleeps (turn off the vehicle) and I turn the vehicle back on after 30 seconds the forward collision preferences are showed set in the default values, my custom values are not saved, so it is very dangerous to trust this security function. Also at the time of starting the advance in the morning, when the vehicle is cold by the ambient temperature, the front brakes produce a loud noise when braking gently, as when the abs is activated during a sudden braking, but after a few minutes of normal driving and braking this stop happening.

Every time we back up there is a loud noise that comes from the brakes. More than 5 times, my wife has asked the Jeep dealer to fix it over the last 2 years. They say the same thing every time that nothing can be done and that it is a defect with the way the brakes work on this Jeep model. We are frustrated to hear this noise with no way to fix it.

Vehicle purchased from larry h. Miller car sales, on February 2nd,2014. A new Jeep Compass 2014. The third day after purchase I took the vehicle in to report problems with the vehicle. 1: a loud noise in the rear brakes. 2: rear windows in the vehicle went down by themselves when driving the vehicle. 3: front passenger door could not be unlocked with the key. I took the vehicle in three times for these repairs. The only thing that was repaired was the front passenger door lock. The windows going down were never even looked at, they said they could not duplicate the problem. The loud noise in the rear brakes was checked by the technicians, three times and their answer for the problem was there was nothing wrong with the brakes and that was just a characteristic of that model (Jeep Compass). I asked to be put in a different vehicle, because I am and were concerned about the stability of the vehicle. I am very disappointed in the service I received and in the vehicle that was sold to me. The noise in the rear brakes is of great concern to me, as far as the dependability and safety. I do not want to keep this vehicle. I believe it is a lemon.
I've had brake noises from my 2008 Jeep Compass since about 500 miles. I've taken it to the dealer over four times, and they have done nothing to fix the problem. The engine or transmission also makes a terrible noise/vibration when stopped for a light or other situation after it is warmed up. . The dealer said this is normal. I'm approaching 22,000 miles, and I bet they will find the problem when it hits 30,000. We will see if the extended warranty covers this stuff.
