Jeep Compass owners have reported 5 problems related to brake sensor (under the service brakes category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
According to techs at Dodge dealership bot front anti lock brake sensors are bad. This vehicle is only driven on paved roads. This vehicle only has 27203 miles on it. Light has been coming on and going off for a month. It is hard to understand how 2 sensors could go bad at the same time unless the sensors are of poor quality. These sensors are original sensors. Safety equipment should not be subject to cost savings. This vehicle is well within the mileage for warranty and only two months out of time warranty. How do 2 sensors go bad at once? researching these problems online and it seems to be a common problem with Jeep.

Faulty or defective camshaft/crankshaft sensors shutting down or stalling the vehicle while in operation and motion, without warning. Driving, up to 70mph, in heavy traffic on a busy highway, vehicle engine stalls and results in loss of power steering, power brakes and forward momentum. When this happens, the driver is thrust into a very dangerous (and possibly deadly) position of trying to manually (w/o power) steer and/or brake the vehicle at high rates of speed in fast and dense traffic.

Tl the contact owns a 2016 Jeep Compass. While driving and shifting into second gear, the vehicle lost power and would not accelerate. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the shoulder, waited a few seconds, and the vehicle began accelerating normally again. In addition, the brakes failed and the abs warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to homer skelton Jeep Chrysler (7661 us-51, millington, TN 38053, (901) 872-0195) where it was diagnosed that new brakes with sensors and pad locks needed to be installed. The brake failure recurred. The acceleration failure was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 51,117.

My Jeep is currently back at the dealership for the second time because the esc turns off/on own its own. The first time this happened, the abs and check engine lights came on and stayed on. The dealership said it was a faulty sensor and replaced it. Now a few months later it is doing the same thing again, and now the windshield wipers come on when I use the left/right turn signals, turn the headlights on, and sometimes just driving down the road. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. The dealership service manager stated to my husband that its not safe for the vehicle do this. However, the dealership says that the vehicle does not display an error code, and they cannot recreate these issues. Vehicle also makes a grinding noise when turning and the steering feels very vague and bouncy. These issues happen randomly during both city and highway driving. My Jeep is a 2014 Compass, fwd, 5-speed manual transmission. It has been at the dealership for over a week this time. The esc issue is a safety issue, as well as, the wipers. It seems to be an electrical issue and makes me wonder if the airbags, abs, cruise control, etc. Are at risk of failure to operate properly.
