1 Front Suspension Wheel Bearing problem of the 2014 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 05/15/2019

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Compass. When the turn signals were activated, the interior lighting inside the vehicle illuminated and turned off once the turn signals were deactivated. Also, while driving various speeds, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The contact had to release the accelerator pedal in order the engine to return to normal. There were no warning indicators illuminated. On one occasion, the engine completely failed. The vehicle had to be towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the wheel bearing and alternator needed to be replaced. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 82,000. The VIN was unknown.

2 Front Suspension Wheel Bearing problem of the 2011 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 09/14/2017

Vehicle is prone to cvt transmission overheating at high rate of speed in warm weather. This has happened 4 separate times now on the interstate highway system, the latest on interstate 95 south 50 miles north of the florida line in georgia. Car will stop any acceleration, transmission overheat light comes on and you cannot maintain speed with flow of traffic. Create a hazardous situation trying to exit the interstate highway, occurred at 70 mph. Jeep dealership cannot detect any problem when diagnosing from prior similar event. In addition wheel bearings in rear axles wear out on average every 35,000 miles I have replaced twice now plus ball joint in front needed replacement at between 36,000 and 40,000 miles.

3 Front Suspension Wheel Bearing problem of the 2008 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 11/21/2013

Took into have front end alignment and was told ball joints and tie rods were bad. Was without vehicle for over 10 days and the cost was $750. 00. Got vehicle back and within a week heard a rubbing sound which turns out to be bad wheel bearings. Waiting for service shop to contact me as to the extent of the damage with that. The vehicle has under 70,000 which is less than the estimated 12,000 per year. The vehicle is not used for any off road driving. I have put more into this vehicle since I purchased it than I did my old 95 bonneville, which I drove until I purchased the Jeep. The Jeep was purchased used from a dealer in 2011.

4 Front Suspension Wheel Bearing problem of the 2007 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 05/29/2013

The car began pulling in the front right tire intermittently. I was a half mile from home, so I turned around to go back home. As I drove into the driveway, the front right tire and entire front right suspension completely fell down (almost completely off) and the tire was pushed sideways and into the frame of the wheel well on the car. The car came to an immediate and abrupt halt. Had I been driving on the road when this occurred, my car would have flipped and I would have crashed and could have been killed! this is a huge safety problem and defect that I believe should be part of a recall. I have read many reports of problems with this model/year concerning the wheel bearings, lower control arms, and tie rods. I have great concern driving this vehicle in the future after it is repaired.

5 Front Suspension Wheel Bearing problem of the 2007 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 03/29/2013

I'm just going to list the problems with dates to make it easier to get a visual of the problem! 2009 4x4 indicator light came on - oil leaking out of some 4x4 box/bearings missing went bad 50,000 miles can't remember the exact name of the part, but could call the dealer and find out what it was, 3/7/12 - cv nut lock covers needed replaced - rusted out, left outer tie rod replaced, 3/17/13 - both control arms replaced, 4/3/13 - right tie rod (inner and outer) replaced, 1/17/14, front engine cradle replaced, 3/28/14 - right wheel bearing replaced, both controls arms replaced again, axle replaced, 5/16/14 - notified that right tie rod needed replaced again. This is by far one of the most poorly designed vehicles that I have owned. It currently has 80,000 miles on it and all of the things replaced should not have needed replaced and not have needed to be replaced twice to boot! I would never again purchase or recommend purchase to anyone. Parts going bad this quickly is a danger to any other parts that may go unnoticed until it's too late!.

8 Front Suspension Wheel Bearing problem of the 2007 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 08/05/2010

I recently had my 2007 Jeep Compass in to dealer to check out why vehicle was handling improperly . Found out I needed $3000 of front and rear suspension prts including control arms front and back wheel bearings x 4 ,ball joints the whole bit in researching this I find I am one of possibly thousands with the same problems on the same year Jeep Compass. I have been loyal to Chrysler even after owning a neon with many problems but this is definately the last Chrysler Dodge or Jeep product I will ever purchase. This vehicle is simply a lemon and should be recalled.
