I own a manual 2018 Jeep Compass with around 14,000 miles. This has happened twice now. I noticed, and not sure if it is a coincidence or not, after the car has idled a bit. Each time the car makes a terrible rattling noise. The car loses power, has no pick up, goes limp. It is a manual, and when I put it in 1st or 2nd gear, it will not go above 2rpms on the dial. I usually shift when it gets to 3. No warning lights of any kind come on. I managed to get it not to stall on the highway, but both times I have not had to stop at a light or anything. Both times I let it sit overnight, and it was fine in the morning. After the first time I took it to the dealership and they found nothing. I have contacted Chrysler and have a case number.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Jeep Compass. While driving 70 mph, the rpms increased to 3,200 and a whining noise was heard underneath the vehicle. The vehicle started to lose power when approaching an exit ramp. In addition, the emergency and transmission temperature warning indicators illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to drive going through an intersection at 2 mph. The contact was able to coast the vehicle into a fuel station. The contact checked the owner's manual, which indicated to allow the vehicle to idle and place the gear shifter into neutral. The contact performed the steps, but the failures recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who added transmission fluid to the transmission. Afterwards, the contact continued driving and the rpms increased to 2,700. The vehicle was coasted over to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to reineke motors Chrysler Dodge (located at 1045 e wyandot Ave, upper sandusky, OH 43351, (419) 549-9284). The mechanic called the contact two days later and diagnosed that the cvt failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and informed the contact that the vehicle was out of warranty. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.

2011 manual transmission with 115k miles. Hit a pothole and began making noise in engine. Took to repair shop. They found metal fragments in transmission fluid reservoir. Still shifts ok.

The vehicle has been in motion every occurrence and happened on a highway. The Jeep has shut off while I was driving. I had the automatic off turned off and when I stopped at a stop light the Jeep powered down, dash and lights went crazy, and my Jeep would not start back up. It took over 5 minutes to get the Jeep to come back on. There is also a popping noise and a very hard shift at times. When this hard shift occurs it pulls my Jeep to the right, I have had it in the shop several times this year and they cannot figure out the problem. They thought changing my shocks would help but it has not. There is still a popping sound when I hit a certain speed and then it is still shifting extremely hard randomly and jerks the whole Jeep when it happens. It has almost caused me to wreck a couple times especially when I am in a right handed curve and this occurs; it caused me to go off road when I took a right handed curve and it occurred. This has been happening since April 2018, and I have had it in the shop several times. This has been an ongoing thing now I do not have the files with me today at work, but I do have them at home. I can upload the documentation at a later date. Unsure of exact date.

It makes a humming noise and it sounds like when you are slowing down it's almost like it's shifting down. Been doing since I picked it up from the dealer on 01/19/2018. I have had it at the dealership they say the noise is normal . I disagree. I have had a symbol twice come up that looks like this (a)! . My main concern is that humming noise and where is it coming from should I be concerned with the transmission? it happens around 25 and higher speed.
Automatic transmission, at times, makes a clunking noise shifting from 4th to 5th gear. Noted times are when cresting a hill (stays in 4th gear at higher rpm's until car levels out over the hill) and also when cruising at low speed (30-35mph) when rpm's are low. All other gear shifts are smooth. I have had it in to the dealership twice and it has been checked for upgrades via computer. One upgrade was made but did not change the transmission problem. I was also told that another 2018 Jeep Compass was taken for a test drive and it did the same thing, giving the impression that that is how it is. this is nonsense and should not happen with standard driving practices.
Traveling on the highway at a constant speed 65-70 mph the power train was making a whining noise. After 30 to 60 minutes of highway travel in 80 degree weather the transmission warning / overheat light came on and the vehicle began to slow down. I pulled over to the side of the road and put the transmission into neutral and let the engine idle for about 15 - 20 minutes. The transmission warning light went out. After 5 minutes I continued on my trip at 60 mph and the light did not return. The vehicle did exhibit a slight rough feeling in the power train and was not the normal smooth engine & shifting.
Cvt transmission started making noise and not shifting at 42000 miles. No accident occurred but since Jeep/Dodge service departments are not authorized to perform maintenance on cvt transmissions it had to be replaced. Due to issues with Jeep/Dodge a new transmission would have been on backorder for a minimum of 30 days. I was not able to wait that long so I found a low mileage transmission in a salvage yard and had the service department install it. Because I purchased my Jeep approx. 2 weeks before the lifetime powertrain warranty was initiated I had to bear the entire cost.
