Transmission Not Engage Problems of Jeep Compass

While driving on freeway this morning the vehicle drivetrain disengage and was not able to accelerate with warning message showing place car in park - select mode - something to that affect - this the second time this has happened- first time on freeway- thank goodness traffic was next to none I think this is very serious!!!!!.

Transmission shift locked in reverse, when this happens engine will not shut off,shift will not move or disengage, have to hold brake peddle down or have accident. No shut down, had to have someone pull fuse under the hood to shut car off. Was in motion in reverse in a parking lot, almost hit car behind me. The vehicle was stopped at a stoplight on a city expressway and when the light turned green the stop/start system failed to restart the engine. It engaged the parking brake in the middle of the road and would not allow me to immediately restart the car. After several attempts to restart the car with traffic flying by me I was finally able to restart the car and disengage the parking break. This has happened multiple times and my dealership says they will not fix it because they are waiting to receive a stop start battery from mopar. It has been on backorder for a month and they dont have a date when it will be fixed. This keeps happening at least once a week and they do nothing to correct the problem. The problem is with the start/stop system made to conserve gas. The system should not leave you stranded in the middle of busy roads where someone can slam into the back of you.

Upon starting vehicle and shifting into drive, vehicle has started rolling in reverse on the incline eventhough the transmission is in drive. Upon inspection of the shift indicator, the "d" drive position indicator has been flashing and transmission is not engaged, and the vehicle is freewheeling . Per dealer, computer shows no indication of the problem or code information about it. Returned fron dealer service on 09-01-2018 at approximately 10:30 hours. This has happened on at least three (3) occasions.

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Compass. The contact stated his transmission would not engaged after he had stopped at a stop light and then began to accelerate to move his vehicle. The contact took his vehicle to the dealer and they stated there was no problem with the transmission. The contact stated he has not called the manufacture as of yet. The failure mileage was 10,000.
