Two problems related to grinding noise have been reported for the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
A loud grinding noise was coming from the front. While applying the brakes the noise escalated repeatedly. Consumer took vehicle vehicle to the dealer for inspection. However, mechanic was unable to duplicate the problem.
Our 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee is 4 months old and is nothing but trouble; the transfer case was replaced, the car makes a grinding noise at highway speeds and the dealer thought the replacement of the transfer case would solve the problem. It didn't however. Furthermore the gear oil had to be replaced because the car would buck and even stall sometimes when I would make tight turn. Furthermore the transmission is sometimes clunking. Our power window needs a new motor. The car keeps on pulling to the right and that still hasn't been fixed. We have been very disappointed and wish the lemon law would be a little bit more protective of consumers than car dealers and manufacturers.
