The Jeep Grand Cherokee ( 2005 ) with the 4. 7 v8 will stall intermittantly. It is very dangerous to lose all power brakes etc when stopping. I have 2 small children and am scared to have them in the vehicle. Accident almost caused!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
I purchased a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited w/ a 4. 7l v8 engine in early 2005 from hunter Chrysler in charlotte, nc , now owned by metrolina Chrysler, south blvd, charlotte,nc. Since the vehicle was brand new it stalled on numerous occasions - sometimes when I was at a stop, and other times when the vehicle was at rated speeds! I took it to the dealer at least 5-6 times for this problem, and they have finally admitted that Chrysler was aware of the problems on this engine, but no one could offer a solution. I have talked to several Chrysler representatives, who were always very courteous, but no one has offered a solution. The last chrsyler representative said the only thing he could do was to recommend to me to trade the vehicle in. When I explained that I would take a loss on the trade-in value , less than two years old but 48000 miles he suggested that a Chrysler district manager would be in contact and could maybe help soften the financial blow. It has been two weeks and I have heard nothing. Meanwhile the vehicle kept stalling and I was afraid that I will get into an accident and get hurt or worse. My wife will no longer drive the vehicle. Please help.
2005 grand Jeep cherokee laredo stalls on turns. I lose power steering and brakes. It has approximately 45,000 miles and has a v8. It has stalled a few times a couple months back and I had taken my Jeep to a Jeep dealership and they could not find anything wrong. When it stalled a few days ago I almost hit a building. It stalls when I am braking and making a turn. Each time I have almost been in a series accident. It is very scary and happens randomly. I am calling the dealership once again. If they can not do anything I am contacting Jeep.
2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee purchased brand new - vehicle stalled while driving down the road. (I was in the process of slowing down for a red light). Had no control of vehicle on December 13, 2006. Vehicle stalled again after making right hand turn into a parking lot. Loss of power on December 29, 2006. Car restarts after turning key off and then back on. Called dealer. Said they had never heard of this before. Took car into dealer. They put it on the machine to see if the computer recorded any codes. It didn't and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Was told to bring it back if it happens again and would have to leave vehicle at dealer.
During stop-and-go driving as well as driving that includes accelerating and slowing repeatedly, my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee w/4. 7l v8 stalls out. This has resulted 2 instances of me almost hitting an electrical box in from of my work while trying to pull into the drive and the vehicle stalls and I lose power steering, and 2 instances of almost being hit from behind as a large trucks approach from behind and I try to accelerate away from a stop light and the vehicle stalls.
2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee purchased brand new. Vehicle stalls while making sharp left turn (1st occurrence). This left me with no control of the vehicle. In March of 2006, vehicle stalled while making same left turn. Took vehicle to dealer for diagnosis and repair. Dealer could not find a problem and was told to "bring it back if it happens again". On 11/14/06, vehicle stalled while driving straight. Again I had no control of vehicle. Returned to dealer, vehicle was inspected by mechanic and regional manager. Called by service manager and was told "vehicle will not duplicate problem, come and pick up vehicle, car rental will not be covered at this point". Told him I will not pick it up until something is done to correct this problem. I am very uncomfortable putting my family in this car, it's too unpredictable. I was then told it's out of his hands, it's a manufacture problem. Contact Chrysler direct. I have contacted Chrysler and filed a formal complaint. I was given a reference number and was told I would be contacted in 3 business days. I realized this was right around thanksgiving holiday and a lot of people are on vacation. The following week I contacted Chrysler and was told my file is with the dealer and they should be contacting me to arrange an "exit strategy" . My husband was present when the service manager called the regional manager via cell and overheard the regional manager state he knows nothing of the problem. He was then reminded that he inspected the vehicle in person on 11/17/06. The regional mangers comment was then "OH, that car, it's still there"? he then proceeded to say "this is just a case of buyers remorse, they are just trying to get out of the vehicle". I am still waiting on a response from someone.
My vehicle just stalled while driving - no reason for stalling. Power windows, locks, and navigation still worked fine. Car restarted once I turned the key. . .
The consumer owns a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee which stalled after only being driven 450 miles. The stalling only occurred after cold starts or when the vehicle has not been driven for a long period of time. This occurred at reduced speeds when the consumer applied brake pressure. The engine would simply shut off. The vehicle will immediately restart on the first try. Afterwards, the vehicle will run fine with no other problems. This has happened at least six to eight times. The consumer has taken the vehicle to the dealer three times. The dealer was unable to duplicate the problem and offered no explanation as to why this problem occurs. The dealer did perform a diagnostics test which produced no fault codes or failures. The last visit to the dealer did prompt a replacement of the crank shaft sensor, but the dealer did not say why this correction was necessary. Since the replacement of the crank shaft sensor the vehicle has not stalled. However, there was a slight miss in the engine when brake pressure was applied. The consumer planned to contact the Jeep manufacturer at this time.
The vehicle stalled on its own while driving. Driver was unable to restart vehicle. Driver had the vehicle towed to the dealer for inspection, but mechanic could not duplicate the problem.
