1 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2021

All the electrical stuff on my car flashes on and off or will just go completely blank for awhile while I'm driving this includes speedometer and all my lights and windshield wipers which is very much needed to drive safely it appears that the car shuts off but it continues to run and I've done research and it is my ignition switch I saw that there was a recall on it already and I called and they told me they wouldn't fix it I'm not sure how all of this works so I'm writing you guys for help. When it had first happened I was going about 60 mph down the highway in the rain in washington state I feel very unsafe in this vehicle now I can't take the chance of being on the freeway and this happening again in the rain the speedometer wasn't so scary but when your windshield wipers go out while it's raining and you're driving on the highway it's pretty scary and very unsafe for everyone. The video I have is another day it still continues to happen it was too risky to try and take videos of it the first time. So I guess I can't upload videos on here the picture it looks like I could be parked but I do have a video that I can send in to you guys if you provide me with an email.

(my state, zip code & tele no. Are wrong as I'm in the uk) on several occasions the engine dies in motion, on a motorway, street, main road etc. Instrument panel lights go off, loss of power steering & so far I've managed to pull over but was nearly hit by another vehicle yesterday hence this complaint. This problem is extremely dangerous & could quite easily lead to a serious accident. When my local Jeep fixed recalls I asked about the ignition switch problem that I've read about on the internet, asking if they had replaced it and they told me that they had reprogrammed the system so should be okay. Well, the issue is still very much alive and far from okay.

8 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2016

I made an appointment at paulding Chrysler Jeep Dodge in dallas, GA on 5-17-16. This appointment was scheduled one week prior to 5-17-16 to replace the ignition switch (p41) and to update a computer system (p73). I was told that the ignition switch was in stock. I brought my vehicle in for the repair at 0830 on 5-17-16. I received a phone call @ 1300 from one of the service managers (nate) telling me that the part was not in stock to replace the ignition switch and I would have to bring it back in when the part was available. When I picked up my vehicle that afternoon I was told that the dealership would contact me and reschedule an appointment for the replacement of the ignition switch. Since then, I have not heard anything from the dealership and my vehicle has lost power 3 times after I picked up my vehicle. I was backing out of my driveway when the vehicle lost power the first time and twice sitting at a red light. I need this resolved right away. I am a home health rn and I drive all day seeing patients.

9 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2016

Exterior headlights and interior dash lights flicker on and off speratically. This happens while driving, stopped and even when parked. I have to toggle the light switch on and off to try and stop the flicker or even to get the lights to come back on because sometimes the lights stay off even when the switch is in the on position. This is extremely scary when driving at night and I'm sure it irritates the heck out of anyone who see's my lights flickering. They think I'm signaling them for some reason. Really need a fix for this ASAP. Hope daimler/chrsler isn't waiting for death/accident toll before they fix this issue. I have already had the ignition switch replaced per the recent recall and the problem with the lights persists.

17 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 09/24/2015

I am still waiting for Chrysler to preform the p41 recall work on my car. Chrysler was found criminally liable for this switch. The recall has been in place since July 2014. I get notices that the part is not available. So far three notices over the past year saying that they don't have a new switch available. Really??? it takes one year to design, manufacturer, and transport an ignition switch, does no one work in detroit. I have had the car not start because of the switch, and when I crank again it starts. I took to dealer for this problem in 2008. I was told that this was normal, the car's computer was re-setting so that I can start. Dealer has gone bankrupt since and closed. I am tired of excuses from Chrysler. When will they do their job and fix this problem. I want this done because my family rides in this car everyday. I am also concerned about the gas tank, because car has been rear-ended three times.

I was driving at about 50mph at night when all electrical cut off including my headlights I was traveling in the darkness at that speed hardly able to see thanks to a car behind me and pulled off the road. Jeep has been stalling way too much as well as cranking for 3 seconds and running and then cutting off instantly the only way I can fix these problems is unhook battery every time and within maybe minutes it may occur again. . . . . This is all directly connected with the p41 recall ignition switch issues on these Jeeps that I was sent notice almost a year ago. What's the hold up on these parts!? let's get moving. . . . This is my only vehicle and I no longer feel safe driving or feel reliable about getting from point a to b. I've spent so much money on this vehicle so far because of these type issues. 26 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2015

Chrysler issued a recall for my Jeep in 2014 for a faulty ignition switch. This defect could result in a motor vehicle accident or cause serious injury to the driver and occupants. I have tried since October 2014 to have this recall addressed to no avail. At all time I have been told the ignition part is not available. On April 30, 2015 I filed a complaint with NHTSA detailing the above recall information. I was issued complaint ;number 10713710 and told a letter would be arriving within two weeks from NHTSA. The letter never arrived. I visited my dealership earlier this month (July) and inquired about the ignition switch. I was told that the plant that was manufacturing the switch had burned down. What is the correct answer and reason for this delay. Is it Chrysler does not want to make the repairs? why hasn't NHTSA forced this issue with Chrysler?.

Driving 45 mph and this happens in a turn in the road almost causing a major wreck due to the power steering and turn signals not working. There are multiple complaints about this issue happening and the consumer having the ignition switch replaced to solve the problem. This issue is a major safety issue yet Chrysler issued a recall that does not have a fix. We were told by Chrysler that it is safe to drive the Jeep with the issues.
