All the lights on my instrument panel started flashing and I lost the ability to see my speedometer, the fan was not blowing and this continued until the lights started flashing. The check 4wd system came on and has stayed on. The check 4wd system light came on not long after I bought it and I took it back to the dealership and I was told that it is because there are aluminum parts that get stuck and you can ignore it. That it was working fine. I rarely use my 4wd system and the check engine light would go off normally after I turned the car off. This started happening more frequently and now the lights flashing on my instrument panel is happening all of the time. The check 4wd system light has stayed on for the last few months.

Car has on 2 separate occasions jumped from drive into neutral. Contacted Chrysler as they have a recall on Jeep Grand Cherokees for this issue. However, they say that this vehicle wasn't included in recall as it was not manufactured at the same plant where the other vehicles were that mandated the recall.

The car will not shift into 4wd low or into neutral for towing. Chrysler error code is c140f and it is even listed in the reprogam instructions. I did not have this issue prior to the n23 recall.
I had the n23 recall done on my Jeep and it no longer shifts into 4 low. Chrysler isnt putting out a real fix to this problem that they created.

Sequence of events: this has been my sons car since I purchased in 2008. John matthew williams who was at college in greensboro, nc. Matthew phoned me one evening, April 17, 2013 and stated that his Jeep would not “go out of 2nd gear” and “all lights came on and named the “engine light”, “bas”, “traction control” etc. He also stated that “it jerks when accelerating and stopping”. He parked the car and my husband/james called cottman transmission in greensboro the morning of April 18th. We were told that nothing showed on the diagnostics and they needed to take out the transmission to assess. The cost would be $450. After taking out the transmission, we were told that it needed complete replacement. They proceeded with the transmission replacement and my son picked up the Jeep on April 24th. I paid $2,185. 77. As cottman stated the “power train control module” was the original cause of problems with this vehicle. I never received a recall notice for any part on this Jeep, possibly because the dealership I purchased it from closed several years ago.
Traction control light flickers causing loss of power and the vehicle would surge even on incline, check engine light appear at random times and turns off on its own it gives codes u404 and another code witch I cant recall off the top of my head. Accelerating from the start will hesitate and feel limited to power . Transmission hard shits at time and clunks forward when deaccelerating then accelerating .
While driving my 2006 Grand Cherokee the vehicle will switch into neutral on it's own. This has occurred while stopped at lights, while driving at 70 mph, so on and so forth. The check engine light reads "shift control module" and this has been replaced twice and has not been cheap. When this occurs, the dash board lights light up around all gears (park, reverse, neutral, and drive. ) I have had to pull off onto the side of the road and turn off my vehicle and restart it before it would switch back into the correct gear. I am wondering if the new safety recall 13v175000 is covering this issue. As I read, it seems my vehicle is not the only one with this problem. My next step was to replace the entire transmission as the person working on the vehicle did not know what else to suggest. This is very dangerous, especially with having to share this vehicle with a teenage son.
The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the vehicle decelerated and shifted into neutral independently. The contact had to shift to park and then drive in order to resolve the failure momentarily. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The failure was reported to manufacturer. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign 13v175000 (electrical, power train), however the VIN was not included in the recall campaign. The failure mileage was 117,000. The current mileage was 127,000.
The Grand Cherokee stalled at a light on a hill. Restarted it and but it back in drive but vehicle continued to roll back almost rolling into car behind. Stalled 4 more times but in parking lots and non busy roads. Took it back to dealer where they updated software on computer and said it was fixed. Then stalled on a busy highway and was almost rear ended because vehicle stalled and wouldn't go into gear. Then parked it in parking lot and it stalled in park.
While driving on a highway, I noticed my car slowed down and even after applying the gas pedal, it didn't help. After pressing the brakes and pushing the gas pedal again, then it started accelerating. The engine light would blink and lately it stays on. The check engine light stays on and off but once I noticed that when I started the car again, the check engine light was off but I lost one front headlight. I was told by the dealership that I needed to replace a spark plug which cost me almost 300. 00. Now the check engine light is on again and I suspect as other owners have shared it in the forum that it's the ignition switch that's faulty. I just wish NHTSA would do something about this ASAP. The letter came the mail stating there is a recall on my car but nothing is being done to correct the problem. Are you waiting for severe accidents to happen before you really force Jeep to correct this issue??? do people have to lose their lives before you act on this problem?.
While driving my vehicle suddenly shifted gears and coasted as if it were in nuetral while rpms shot up to 3,000. It then suddenly lunged forward and picked up speed. The check engine light came on. After a day or so, the light would go off. Within the time frame of approx 3 weeks, this had occured at least 3 times. It was very scary to have it change gears and not be able to maintain speed and suddenly speed up again while traveling with vehicles in front of me and behind me. You essentially have no control of the vehicle in that moment, nor do you have any warning that it is about to happen. Drivers around you also have no warning that your car will suddenly slow down or lunge forward. Took it to the dealership to be looked at. Was told that it was my electronic shifter module and had it replaced. Although I have a power train warranty, it was not covered and had to pay over $900. Did research online and came across numerous others with the same issue. I feel that if this critical part fails on so many vehicles it should be made a recall. When this part fails, it has the potential to cause many accidents.
Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, all of the lights on the gear shift illuminated and the vehicle independently decelerated to 20 mph. In addition, the vehicle would not respond to acceleration attempts. The contact purchased an electronic shift module from the dealer and had an independent mechanic repair the vehicle. The failure recurred the following day. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure and current mileages were 77,000. Kmj.
Upon acceleration, the car uexpectedly shifted into neutral.
While driving my vehicle suddenly shifted gears as if it were in neutral while rpms shot up rapidly to 3,000. It then suddenly lunged forward and picked up speed. The check engine light came on. After a day or so, the light would go off. Most of the time I have to pull over and put the vehicle in park and then back into drive for it to work. Happens at any given time, whether im going 5 mph or 65 mph. . Even on highways. Can be very dangerous.
The transmission has been struggling changing gears and this has been happening for many years. You may look back and see where we made this complaint initially and the problem had been occurring long before this and continues to get worse. I know the 2005 Jeep cherokees were recalled for having the very same issue from the many mechanics who have driven my car to see what the problem was. One of the mechanics where I took it to was Chrysler Jeep in asheville, n. C. The mechanic said that I did have a 2005 transmission which had been on your recall list. I would like to get this problem resolved as I have been traveling with this issue for quite sometime with no resolution.

The failure was located at the gear shifter module. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 100,000 and the current mileage was 170,000. Kmj.
The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the gear automatically shifted into neutral. The abs, and traction control warning lights illuminated. The independent mechanic borchert motors located at 18295 faribault blvd faribault mn, 55021; (507) 334-7271 was contacted where the mechanic stated that there were several recalls for this year, make, and model. When driving transmission has not been properly shifting into proper gears. The transmission is sounding as if it is struggling to shift into the gear it should be in. This has been happening for many years. This happens in all driving areas, hills, flat roads, short trips, long trips. Began 2011.
2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Consumer requests reimbursement for recall repairs. The consumer stated the costly repair of the shifter assembly did not successfully address the real defective part, the final drive controller module software, which was finally made public in 2013. In early 2010, the vehicle unintentionally shifted from drive into neutral, while the consumer was driving. Luckily, she was able to coast out of the roadway into a parking lot. The dealer mistakenly diagnosed the condition as a defective shifter and replaced it. At the end of may 2011, the vehicle once again shifted from drive into neutral on its own. The consumer no longer owns the vehicle.
When driving and you hit a bump dash light flash, car shuts down sometimes I've taken all keys, rings ect. Off but that don't help key still moves when driving, in June 2015 took it to have 2 recall orders fix which was flash final drive module and the final drive controller module every sense then car is worst off now,now transmission problems pop up that never poped up before this was done at ray laethem. Had to buy and older car cause half the time to scared to dri the Jeep I paid 15,000 dollars for I just want this Jeep to run right and safe or buy it back I'm still waiting for the new ignition.
2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee after starting and putting into to drive the vehicle revved and took off with out the gas pedal being depressed. This has happened three times, with the last incident leading to a severe crash and injury. After the crash and the car stopping the engine was still revving. The incident was witnessed twice by the same person aside from the driver.
As driving the vehicle would switch into neutral on its own. I have seen there is a recall for this issue, but it does not include our particular vehicle (for whatever reason) but it should. The recall needs to be extended further.
