The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the ignition failed to start the vehicle and an abnormal sound was heard. The vehicle was taken to larry h miller Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram (1800 w. 104th avenue, denver CO, 80234), but the cause of the failure could not be determined. Prior to having the vehicle repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system), the failure had not existed. The vehicle was not repaired. I purchased a 2007 used Jeep Grand Cherokee from kelly Jeep on 3/11/2010, with an odometer reading of 24,758 miles. This vehicle has stalled randomly seven (7) times since the date of purchase. It has been returned to the dealers service department three times and each time they have not been able to duplicate the cause of the stalling. The stalling occurs after a stop and then attempts to proceed into a turn at low speed. It occurs more frequently when a right turn is being made. The engine stops and all electric energy are lost, just as though the ignition was turned off. Braking assist and power steering are lost. I have provided the dealer a document listing and observation of each of the seven events. Several have places me in a comprising position and if traffic had been heavy could have resulted in a serious accident. The vehicle always is able to restart after it stopped, the ignition turned off and placed in park.
