42 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2014

I was driving at highway speed when I accidently touched the key in the ignition switch. The engine died and I coasted to the roadside where I restarted the engine. I had received the recall notice sent by Chrysler and had followed the directions contained in the notice, so notified them of the incident. About a month later the same thing occurred but this time I did not touch the key. This time it happened while I was stopped at an intersection and started to accelerate into a turn. The vehicle had just began to move when it died. I restarted the vehicle and completed the trip. I again notified Chrysler who directed me to have the switch replaced immediately. The dealer that I was using told me the old model replacement switch was not in stock and unavailable as the new parts had not been produced and he would not attempt to find a replacement. I located a dealer who ordered the old designed part from Chrysler stock and replaced it for me. They also instructed me to return when the new parts are available as the work did not satisfy the recall notice. I contacted Chrysler some time back to see when newly designed parts would be available and they still had not received them. They also said they had no time frame for the replacement parts. This is the one year anniversary of the problem without resolution, far too long.

43 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2014

Already the subject of a Chrysler recall # p41/NHTSA 14v-438 ignition switch received recall notice 9-18-14 but no part available to fix per letter. Visited local Jeep dealer today (3-19-2015), still no part. In fact "0" vehicles have been fixed by Chrysler. This is not good. Somebody is going to get killed. The car will suddenly light up every light on the instrument cluster, there will be a relay clicking on of on off sound behind the instrument cluster and the car will shut off while rolling. Has happened several unexpected times, low speed and highway speed. Very scary and unsafe. Suggest Chrysler, now that this is a verified defect, immediately requisition parts and get owners into the service departments now -if not sooner!!! six months is waaaay to long for a simple part.

54 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2014

I am having issues with the recalled ignition switch in my Jeep Grand Cherokee. The recall number is p41. While I am driving the entire dash lights up with every possible warning light possible. My gauges stop working and the lights flash on and off. Sometimes my check engine light will stay on for a day after this happens. It is really scary. The first time it happened was in may and it only did it maybe 5 times from may through July. At the end of July it started happening a few times a week. In September we received the recall notice. I took the car into Jeep to verify that the problem is the ignition switch. . . And it is. I don't have the money to temporarily fix it until the part comes in. Meanwhile I feel unsafe driving my car. I've called the corporate office and they treat me horrible and don't care. The customer service reps have no information and tell me to wait for the next postcard. I'm really frustrated and don't feel like this company cares at all. The recall notice "says" they care about my safety but they sure don't show it. Meanwhile I have to drive a car with my child in it that feels unsafe. It has now been 6 months since the recall notice was sent to me and they still haven't fixed the issue. How is Jeep not held accountable? I feel like I have no options and nobody cares.

We did not have an accident, however, we have received a recall notice from Chrysler two years ago regarding the ignition switch which could cause the vehicle to loose power if it is not replaced. We have been calling the dealership button motors in kokomo indiana as well as the Chrysler toll free number to get this work done but they tell us they are waiting for the part. I am very concerned that something might happen before this work gets done. It's amazing that whenever we have work done on this vehicle that we have to pay for the parts are always available within a day or two but when it comes to recalls it takes two years??? seriously. Can you please helps expedite this before a serious accident develops. The recall number is p41/NHTSA 14v-438.
